Not really seeing how it looks like iOS 7. I just wish they would go with the stock android look.

If it joins the tablet UI, it'll be a spit of Windows 8.

I wouldn't be so sure. If it was so concerned about trimming the fat, I think they would have got away with 2gb ram. Seems to me when Sammy throw more ram at something it's usually because they haven't optimised anything.

Let's see what happens. Hopefully, it's as smooth as the GN3

4k looks better on tv's because of the size. On a 5 inch screen 1080p vs 1440p makes zero difference. Samsung should stick with the 1080p and give the S5 a non pentile arrangement instead.

But how do you know? People said the exact same thing with 720 vs 1080 on phones.

We don't know for sure, but it's been fairly well documented that there's a point at which the human eye cannot distinguish a difference, and these ever increasing pixel densities are already past it. This just sounds like typical Samsung including a spec bump because they can and can say they did it first, not necessarily considering if they should.

If you play 1080p content on a 1080p or 1440p 5 inch phone, naturally you won't see any difference. But if you play a 1440p video on a 5 inch 1080p phone or an a 1440p phone, then you will see the difference.

Yeah, it is smooth now, but in a year...

My SGS3 was smooth with 4.0 out of the box. 4.1 came and it became slower... 4.3 was just released and even slower it became...

Yeah, thats a samsung issue. Their skin has gotten more bloated with each release. My galaxy nexus was the opposite. It got smoother with each update. Same with the moto x.

Samsung ideally would just ditch the skin altogether. I don't think anyone is buying the phones for the skin. The highest rated phone on att.com right now is in fact the moto x by a huge margin. I think that proves that you can add features to android without doing a full skin. In fact that usually is a much better approach.

Seriously? You can't even tell?

It's Samsung's M.O. - break out the photocopiers whenever it's time for a new release.

The new UI looks nothing like iOS 7...Except for the colour blue, I really dont think there are any icons at all, nor does the wallpaper resemble anything in iOS 7.

Nothing looks like ios7... he's just regurgitating apple fanboy garbage.

I thought the lockscreen to be a little iOS 7 inspired, but I wouldn't go farther than that. Its an improvement for Samsung but some of those icons are weird... it seems like something an amateur skin maker would put together and upload for GoLauncher or something to use. That message and magazine icon? Weird.

It looks good. The specs definitely look like a step up from 2013. Seems reasonable. Ui looks much better.

Umm...no. It doesn't look like iOS at all.

The colors totally look like iOS. No the icons or layout do not, but the color scheme is the same. It sucks on iOS and I don't get why Samsung is so intent on copying those too.

At least the font is nicer.

Plus I use nova launcher so it doesn't matter too much as I'll just use the kit Kat theme. I just hope they actually optimize it, the current version of touchwiz somehow still manages to slow down my note 3 while my moto x runs much smoother with lesser hardware.

Meh... everything as before, only bigger and more.

I bet the entry level capacity will still be 16GB... should be 64/128 by now.

That 5.2" screen is way too much, unless the buttons are on screen(as they should be), it's just too big. That resolution is also ridiculous.

It should definitely have Snapdragon 805, or else it's simply old news. Plus Snapdragon does not have a hardware H.265 decoder and it needs to push the absurt amount of pixels.

3GB RAM is kind of awkward. Give it either 2 or 4.

That 16MP camera pictures are going to be a tiny marginal improvement over the S4's. Definitely won't come close to Nokia 808 PureView and won't even match Lumia 1020 or the N8.

External microSD card is good.

Faux lether... no comments.

Never buying another Samsung device until they stop spitting in the face of enthusiasts. Knox is the biggest e-cockblock I've ever encountered and it's gotten so bad that there are now active bounties into the thousands of dollars for somebody to find out how to disable Knox/revert back to OTA.

I thought Knox was just a flag, that told samsung the device had been rooted, and didn't affect anything else.

It seems like something Apple would do.

It permanently disables OTA and permanently voids any kind of warranty, even for hardware-related defects. Even if you Odin back to stock ROM. Imagine Apple never letting you update an iPhone and voiding your AppleCare just because you jailbroke once before. It's pretty much like that.

I think this will be GS5 exclusive and not for phones that are going to be updated to 4.4 because apparently the 4.4 update for the S4 will look like this:

That is not what Knox does. It is security and encryption software to enable a device to be used for Enterprise/Business and for personal use. It would encrypt and protect the Enterprise/Business data while letting someone use the device for personal use as well. This way you would only have to carry one device around for business and personal use. I have it on my S4 and on the Note 3 when I had that phone. I rooted both devices and never had a problem getting OTAs or support from my carrier AT&T. I rooted the Note 3….installed roms then returned it to stock. then returned it. Never had a problem. My S4 also can get OTAs with no problem. But i have heard of people having trouble with Knox but I never did have a problem.
