Man I love that form factor! :) Brings back memories.

Hoping to buy a house shortly, and also hoping that in my pool (table) room, I'll have space for a long bench to display my (Art) Macs. I'd love an original compact Mac to go at the start of the collection...

My software collection. Only missing a couple of Classic Mac OS boxes (System 5, System 7 Pro). Most are sealed, and all of them give me great nostalgia and memories of my computing life (and take up a lot less space than all of the Macs I've owned since 1994!)

That's a great piece of a book shelf :apple:

I don't think I've never ever even seen or used system 5. If I remeber it right, it was from 4.2 straight to 6.0.8 for me. But on the other hand, my memory doesn't serve me like it used to.

I've got some disks in the drawers and somewhere, system 7 obviously, and I've got HyperCard 2 too.

edit. and now I can see I haven't read my wikis thorough enough. I was actually system softawre 5.0 I have been using atthat time. We called it system 4.2 though with my friends.

Release notes

Towards the end of 1987, Apple introduced a package titled "Apple Macintosh System Software Update 5.0".[23] For the first time, the Macintosh operating system was offered as a distinct retail product that included four 800K disks and three manuals, at a cost of US$49. The software itself was still freely available through user groups and bulletin board services. While the product box presented this update to the operating system as "version 5.0", this number does not appear in the software itself.

:) I have HyperCard 2.3 boxed on my shelf next to me. Seem to recall I upgraded to it as it offered colour, however in reality it was not a great colour implementation... didn't really help me out. And it was a pie-in-the-sky Stack I was working on anyways... But boy, I love(d) HyperCard! Totally destroyed me when I went to university and struggled to think in non- mouse on / mouse off methodologies...

HyperCard was the software that really made me fall in love with computing (and eventually web design.) So much fun to play with, and nothing since has really been comparable. I always wonder how many future developers HyperCard inspired to create new products.

The first version I used was 2.0 or 2.1. The later versions with color support always felt like a hack (and I'm pretty sure it was just a hack.)

HyperCard was like an early internet, just without internet connection to it.
Yes - I'm pretty sure Bill Atkinson, creator of HyperCard, is on record as lamenting that he didn't think of adding "WAN" capabilities to the program, as that would have basically made it the first web browser.

@thomasjpr I'm not sure what version I started on... would have been in 1991 when I got my first Mac. I remember being amazed when my friend showed me on the computers at school how you could make the free but limited HyperCard app into the full version.

And two new additions!

Two Powerbook 230's with accompanying DuoDocks.
The docks have Quantum 240MB harddrives (only one of the two works though), extra video ram, the 68882 FPU coprocessor and some Graphics nubus cards.
Apart from the one Quantum HD which refuses to show up, both docks seem to be in tip top shape, the motorized system works smoothly.
Loads of software on them, including a flight sim, photoshop 3.0 and lots more...

This is my main machine. It was originally a 128k made in 1984 however has been upgraded by Apple to a Plus. I purchased the machine in 2020 in an already restored state having been recapped, retr0brited along with the floppy disk drive disassembled and relubricated.

I only really use it for visiting Bulletin Boards which I do via a WiFi-232 serial modem. I also have a FloppyEMU attached so that I do not have to bother with any disk swapping.

I also have a spare Plus along with a fully working SE but both are in storage. I would love to pick up an Apple II one day but there aren’t many of them in my country.

A couple pics of the rest of my collection as it stood in the spring. Company and building sold, so the h7 a sized diorama of computers from different decades (2000s, 90s, 80s and a few from the 70s) had to pack up, along with me. The iMacs have made it to the new office through frosted glass, so look nice in their new home. It did take a while to pack up and dismantle. Fun while it lasted, but sad that we had the space too.

That is a beautiful setup. And when you say main machine, you mean that this is the computer you use when you use a computer?

Thanks! Haha, well, it’s kinda my default main machine as I do not have a desktop computer. I get by using my iPads and iPhones. I think I meant that it is my main vintage machine as I have several other compact Macs along with a TRS-80 Model 102 but they are all presently in storage.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

My personal vintage Apple collection is small:

iPhone 3GS (32GB)
iPhone 4s (32GB)

But at work, we have a decent collection (I work in a movie prop house):

Apple IIc (non-operational)
Macintosh SE (2 Of them)
Macintosh Plus (2 of them)
iBook
Power Book G4
iMac G3 in Orange with matching keyboard and mouse
Image Writer printer

Here are all of my old Apple things, specs for some of those are on my about page.

Laptops
- 2011 13" MacBook Pro
- 2009 13" MacBook Pro
- 2010 13" MacBook
- 2006 17" MacBook Pro
- 2003 15" PowerBook G4 (1GHz A1046, in dis-repair (horrible condition and bottom RAM slot failure) and used as a parts and screws machine)
- 2003 12" PowerBook G4 (DVI 1GHz model)
- 2002 TiBook (867MHz base model)

Desktops

Subject to finance and a building inspection... in about 40 days I'll finally own a house again, and the room that will be my office should be big enough for me to finally set up some of my computers... in particular the TAM, and Cube. :) Think I need to find a Mac Classic...
