I remember there being a few. Let me check what I’m using and I’ll updated this post.

Ok. So I used homebridge-chamberlain

https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-chamberlain

I remember now selecting this one because you don't have to mess with ApplicationID and it's just a little simper to set up than home bridge-myq as a result.

Testament to how stable all this is: I couldn't even remember the directory I installed it in on the Pi. I just never have to touch it!

I had to go with a Liftmaster config as the Chamberlain one didn’t recognize my openers. Installed it and it recognized and set up both of my garage doors automatically. Awesome!

I have mine running on my iMac. I’ve set mine so the screen sleeps only. Works great as long as my parter doesn’t sign me out when she signs in. Then I run a launchagent so it autostarts after crash or reboot.

I did this last night. A bit painful on the launch agent side, but successful.

Thank you both!

Now to see if I can use Shortcuts to chain any of this.

yeah it was demo'd to send the message in the background. Here's the link to the WWDC demo - relevant part starts around 6:40

Just came to say I found the relevant bit too and yeah, I'm pretty hopefully this will be the final functionality now.

Is there anyway to set up a shortcut that would automatically turn off my WiFi when my iPhone connects to my car (indicating that I am leaving home). If so, could someone walk me through that? This type of thing is a bit above my pay scale in terms of technical knowledge. TIA

Unfortunately my understanding is that shortcuts can only be triggered explicitly through Siri, share sheets, the Shortcut widget and the homescreen, not background events like location change, bluetooth connection etc.

Thanks. Is there any way to do it if I were to use a Siri command or widget?

Yeah, turning Wifi on/off is an option in Shortcuts, so you could link that action to a Siri command like "I'm leaving home." Then you just need to say "Hey Siri, I'm leaving home" on the way out/in the car. I can't walk you through that though as I don't actually have the app - just avidly following news about it!

I believe you can just ask Siri to turn off Wifi too. That’s a native Siri command.

Good point! They’ll have to add another step to it just so they have the excuse to use Shortcuts :p

:)

Hey, any excuse to use this new frame work works for me.

I can't wait to get the third party donations going. I don't run beta software, so I still have a couple months to go before I can play with this.

If you have any HomeKit stuff, you can include a step to turn it off? Or send a text to your partner to say you're leaving? Start a playlist for in the car? Open the maps app? Or Waze?

That’s what they demoed. HomeKit stuff not there yet. But you can do the other things in Shortcuts now.

This screen short right there already makes me not wanna use it. Too much going on. Ain’t got no time for such a learning curve anymore lol

Which is why Siri will suggest shortcuts for you depending what you do on your phone.

If you want to do something specific you open the shortcuts app.

iOS 12 bricked my iPad. Had to restore to 11.4.1. Shortcuts was there and ran successfully. So not iOS version dependent. I think we knew that but interesting to see it in action.

But since the shortcuts app is still limited, it might not use the really new links to Siri. Maybe newer version of the app will stop to work under iOS 11. Interesting stuff! Cool you found that!

Not a Dev so I'm waiting for a public beta of the app :-( Or when devs get some codes to share and someone would be so kind to share it here ;-)

I'm a dev, requested way back on the dev portal when it first came out, still waiting. Ugh.
I wonder at this point if they will send any more invites out

No codes to share. If you have Developer account, applied and were accepted, you can download from TestFlight. However, as I’ve mentioned before, the current version is very similar to the current version of Workflow. Polish your skills on that and you’ll be ready for Shortcuts.
