They messed up shortcuts. Now none of them work unless the phone is unlocked. Even the simple ones like starting a music playlist. To me the shortcuts widget is now useless.

It used to work before 2.1

For stuff like this, it would be very helpful if you could post screenshots of your Shortcut. Otherwise, we’re just guessing.

Also, are you on Shortcuts 2.0 or 2.1?

Sorry, here it is:
Version 2.1

Thanks. I just built this same Shortcut (using imperial measures rather than metric). I dictated a measure with a decimal in it and it logged into the Health app with the decimal intact. Using 12.1 and 2.1.

Try deleting and re-adding the Log Health Data action. Who knows, that might reset things.

No difference sadly..

I am able to run shortcuts with the phone locked (with ver. 2.1).

Some simple stuff like the tip and sale calculators work. But like Apple Music stuff, Shazam, weather, Waze, and the reminders app. All used to work prior to 2.1 and now none work

thanks for sharing your Shortcuts.. it's a good starting point for someone getting started.
I tried the Flashlight shortcut and it gives an error. It's not complicated - Flashlight and then options to set it On, Off, Toggle.
Also is it possible to view the Shortcuts on the web browser like before in Workflow app? The new Shortcuts prompts you to open it in Shortcut app only. Viewing the Workflow logic was simple and fast in the browser even if you cou;dn't run it there.

All my shortcuts are here for everyone to download.. https://routinehub.co/user/Adamgbiggs

Hi and thanks, the new V2.1 Shortcuts App update made the flashlight shortcut break, I’ll have a look see if there’s a fix, as for the opening in safari I have no clue, i have only just started to put these shortcuts together and never used Workflow before.

Just a followup.. I solved this by converting the , with a . in the dictated text as in the screenshot.
The healthapp seems to only accept numbers with a ”.” even though it displays datapoints with a ”,”. Must be some regionalsettings”bug” or something since the last 12.1 or 2.1 update.

There is a 2.1.1 update today. Among the fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where entered decimal numbers may not be recognized properly in locales that use a comma as the decimal separator

Shortcuts app latest update 2.1.1 fixes the issue with flashlight and it works now.
Thanks again... it's a simple Shortcut but handy since the only way to turn on the flashlight is through Control Center if you have customized it, now we can have one more way to turn it on when needed.
Interestingly, Apple removed URL schemes for the System app in iOS11, otherwise it was possible to create all these handy shortcuts using Launcher and URL scheme. Maybe, Apple was planning for this functionality in its own 1st-party app and didn't want 3rd-party apps like Launcher offering the same (though 3rd-party apps were the first one to introduce it).

Glad Apple fixed the issue, I didn’t know Apple had removed stuff from iOS 11, I’m sure as you say they did it as this Shortcuts App was being built.

I tried using the Speeddial shortcut found in the gallery. It works just fine when you manually run it, but if I invoke Siri, I get an error that the app had an unexpected error?

Shortcuts app was originally a 3rd-party WorkFlow app which Apple bought and integrated it with Siri but the overall UI and functionality is from WorkFlow. And while doing so, Apple removed URL schemes for Settings app in iOS 11.

I actually thought about that but (wrongly) assumed that they had localized Shortcuts/Health. I would report this an issue, if you can.

Anyone able to run any apps using Shorcuts with latest update? I keep getting error. My shortcut is just to simply open an App. WTF Apple??

Ran a Shortcut today that launches two apps with no issue. But earlier version of Shortcuts, one of the apps would crash while starting (work-around, temporarily replaced with different app with similar functions) and the second app started, but gave a warning message about how it started. Not sure if it was Shortcuts or the apps themselves (did not pay close attention to when Shortcuts got updated and or the apps themselves).

But, yeah, Shortcuts are a work in progress.

Not much experience with this but Im trying to set up a small "database" using the Dictionary action. Using for example Keys Color and Shape, and under colors I have green, yellow etc and under shapes; circle, triangle etc.
I want to have a list where I click on the "Keys" and get a submenu of the associated values to the key and then click that value for further use (adding to a note). I can populate a list with all the key values but then populating a new list with its associated values in a new list I can't manage todo... Any ideas?

I am trying to do a simple edit of the stock 'heading to work' shortcut. But instead of it starting a playlist, I want it to start a podcast. But the podcast app isn't listed as something I can sub in there - how can I make that an option that I can replace playlist with?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have just downloaded the shortcuts app and am exploring it's capabilities. I have a particular shortcut I'd like to program, but I can't figure out how, perhaps someone can help.

What I want is a shortcut that will allow me to listen to music through closed ear headphones and when someone needs to talk to me, I could open the microphone without removing the headphones. There used to be an app that essentially did that, it was called "Awareness" by "Essency". There was a button on the main page of the app that paused the music and opened the microphone. When you were done talking, a press of the same button would close the microphone and resume playing the music from the paused spot. It worked perfectly under earlier versions of ios, but doesn't any longer and the programmer appears to have given up on it.

Essentially, the button still toggles the mike on and off, but doesn't pause and resume the music. So it requires going to the music app and pausing the music there. What I would like would be a shortcut that would pause the music and open the mike at the same time. The "open app" activity will open the "Awareness" app, but I can't see any way to "press" the button inside the app.

An alternative way to do this would be to have a shortcut that would switch on "Live Listen" from the native ios, but I can't see how to do that either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

On a related note, while I see a "pause" activity, I don't see a corresponding "play" or "resume" activity. There is a play current specific to the music app but that goes back to the beginning of the song, and wouldn't help when listening to a podcast.

Thanks.
