For anyone wondering of a easy way to tigger AppleScript actions with shortcuts you can download “Remote for Mac” https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/remote-control-for-mac/id884153085?mt=8

I setup one that starts playing music on my iMac which is in my room and then turns the display off.

Just curious: Couldn't you just append those digits to the end of the person's phone number in contact entry with a "," or "#" symbol and then dial directly from there? If you wanted to make that a shortcut, then just use the following:

I want to create the shortcut to switch on and off my car's pre-heater, which has a GSM-interface.

Therefore I first have to dial the phone number of the pre-heater, wait until the connection has been made and then sent the digit code, e.g. 99#1 to turn on or off the pre-heater. If I sent it in one row, then the digit code would probably lost.

I understand. There are codes that you can insert into a dialing sequence to have it pause or wait for input. Insert a comma for a 5 second pause (or multiple commas to add 5 seconds each). To have it wait for your input, add a “#” (with no quotes).

I had something like this you don’t need the shortcuts app. Just out the pauses or the waits in so every time it beeped you just acknowledge the next step it would be on the lower left of the screen during a call. I would put it on speaker so I can listen to it. This was with the earlier iPhones I tried doing the automatic and it wouldn’t register all the prompts. Of course it’s come a long way now.

Thx a lot for your assistance so far!

The shortcut know basically works, nevertheless I have to further questions to optimise it:
1. How can I use the Replace text function to replace a leading "0" within a phone number (only the leading "0") with a country code, e.g. "+49"?
2. How can I end a call within a shortcut automatically?

Best Regards

Thomas

Hello,

I would like to make a shortcut that does two things when I'm listening to music. (1) First, add the " artist - name - album" info to a note or reminder list, then (2) like/love the song on apple music.

I managed to do the first part, but I cant find any setting/action to love a song. I.e. what I mean is, in the music app, its possible to tell AM that you love a song, I guess to improve future music recommendations. I know that its possible to tell Siri "hey siri I love this song", but its a bit annoying for my colleagues if I'm saying that the whole day.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hello, I'm automating a shortcut where you can Tell Siri to remind you of the expiration dates of products you open without touching your phone. Is there a way to convert text to a date ?;

I can input it but if you say like in one year. It will quit because it can't automate that.
If I can't format it is there a way for Siri to ask again instead of giving an error ?

Also is there a way to avoid the running your shortcut and the done, okay ?

Thanks.

Hello,
I would ask for help on a simple shortcut that is driving me nuts.

With the phone locked (I need to use this shortcut when I am in the car and I am approaching home, saying "Hey Siri ....") I need:

- to send a message (to disable alarm)
- to trigger one Home scene (to open the main gate)
- to wait 30 seconds
- to trigger a second Home scene (to open garage door)

I have drafted this shortcut:

- send a message
- execute first home scene
- wait 30 seconds
- execute second home scene

The problem I have is simple, either Siri says "you have to continue on the app" or it says "you need to unlock your phone".
Please help!
Thanks, dan

Go to settings, Siri & Search and make sure Allow Siri When Locked is on;

Already done but no success!
Under those options do all the apps you are implementing into your HomeKit Scene have Allow on Lock screen access ?
Stupid question but I actually got stuck here, does the shortcuts app itself have access ? In Privacy under HomeKit does Siri Shortcuts have access ?

If this is all set I'm afraid I have no more ideas :/

Things like garage doors (and potentially gates) have security settings (for want if a better term) that require you to unlock your phone to activate them. This is to prevent inadvertent triggering of the scene that could catch someone in a door or gate. Overkill in my mind but the lawyers for the vendors are not going to let this one go.

Hi!

All my attempts to figure it out by myself failed, so I need help.

I use the Save file action and after my file is uploaded I’d like to get it’s public link. The issue is that file upload runs in background (or at least looks like so), and if I try to get public link on the next step I get an error, as file upload is not complete yet. I tried to insert a delay between these actions, and it works. But I can’ rely on that, because the delay depends on file size and network speed. So is there any solution to continue the shortcut after the upload is finished?

Otherwise I’ll have to use something like imgur, but it limits file type to images only, and I don’t want to use any extra account.

I've got a shortcut that i nicked from elsewhere that gives me a speed dial sort of set up with the shortcut showing on the widget screen. You set the entries up in the shortcut and then when you run it you get a menu of the contacts and you can choose who you want to call. I'd like to amend it so when i run it I choose the contact and then get a choice of whether to call or text them. I'm struggling with the messaging part as all its doing is composing a text with no recipient that just lists the phone numbers of the contacts i've added to the shortcut.

Is what i'm trying to achieve possible?

Cheers...its along the lines of what i was doing and i just need to figure out the best way of choosing the recipient than passing it over to call\messaging accordingly. Was playing with a completely over engineered Call Center shortcut i found via Reddit in the hope i could hack out the bits i wanted to use but i gave up in the end.

The contacts i want to have on this speed dial are already set as favourites so i suspect the best way forward would be to somehow get it to list my favourites, then ask if i want to call or text and then do the required selection.

I found it surpisingly unobvious how to get your favorites in a shortcut. The easiest way is to create a group for these contacts. I think the reason is that native Favorites feature doesn't just mark the whole contact as favorite, but marks the exact phone number and way of communicaton, e. g. you add to favorites not just Sam, but sending a text message to Sam's work phone number. And that's why standard contact search can't just find favorite contacts.

Yep i'm finding the same and as i typed my previous response it came to me what you've mentioned....ie when you set a favourite you pick a contact and then the number and then a contact method to add.

The current speed dial does this by letting you add the contacts phone numbers which it lists then calls the one you choose. Sadly this doesnt work for messaging. I'll keep digging.

Hi Guys, I'm newbe so if I make some mistakes (or it already was that kind of ask - please show me).

I want to create pretty difficult (for me) shortcut for my work.

I need to create couple of this there:

- On Mondays form 8 a.m to 6;30 p.m I want that from 8;00 will start countdown timer and open spotify,

- Tuesday from 8;00 a.m to 17;30 p.m - rest the same (countdown and spotify),

- Wednesday from 8;00 to 15;30 - rest the same (countdown and spotify),

- Thursday from 8;30 to 17;00 - rest the same (countdown and spotify),

- Friday from 8;30 to 17;00 - rest the same (countdown and spotify) :)

Is it a difficult one ? I'm asking because programming for me is really new and undiscovered place :)

It's slightly complicated, but you could do it.

- You make a regular shortcut that has the actions:

Start Timer based on (Shortcut Input) minutes,
and then Open App (Spotify)

- Then you need to make the multiple personal automations that use Time of Day, and you repeat it Weekly, set the days of the week. You might want to turn off Ask Before Running just so they don't go off if you don't go in. The actions in these are:

Number with the number of minutes you need the countdown to last for
and Run Shortcut, and under Show More, pointed to that number

i am trying to setup shortcut automation. The one where when you plug in your phone Siri will talk. Everything looks correct and when I plug in phone the message says running shortcut automation but Siri doesn't speak.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
