Amazon. You will get your iPad quicker, you will have a 30-day return an an "absolutely no questions asked" return policy, you will still get your standard statutory 2-year warranty and you can still get a warranty extension (Apple Care) from Apple directly if you want. And if anything goes wrong of course you can take it to an Apple Store and they'll look into it for you. On top of that you might get an extra discount by taking the Amazon credit card and if you're esigned up to Smile, part of your money will go to charity. And your package will be easier to track if you're already bought in the Amazon / Echo ecosystem.

What two year warranty are you talking about from Apple? And what do you mean they "replace beyond that"? Genuinely asking. I bought AppleCare+ specifically for 2 year coverage. Should I not have bought it.
in the EU (and in the UK, still, not sure for how long), the standard statutory consumer warranty is two years, not one year, despite Apple's best effort to communicate otherwise to try and sell more Apple Care. That is one of the reasons why APple products are slightly more expensive in Europe than in the US even after accounting for VAT vs Sales Tax and currency fluctuations.

You’re not the only one that said that Apple offer two years warranty. But I’ve yet to find anywhere that they confirm this. Can you put me in the right direction please?

They have some info on their website:


The advice I received was verbal and by the store manager. I’ve had a few iPhones replaced in the second year of ownership and they’ve always been accommodating.

I’ve had iPhones hit issues (hardware) in the second year of ownership and had them replaced with no issues. I’ve never bought AC and personally wouldn’t. The example I gave was my wife’s Apple Watch Series 2 that wouldn’t power on. It was more than 2 years old and Apple said had she bought it directly from them, they’d replace free of charge. That’s great customer service for me.

You can also get AppleCare if desired.

I'm an Amazon prime member and on their website said we'll deliver tomorrow but on apple website delivery dates are 28 Jul - 4 Aug.

Has anyone bought iPad pro from Amazon? Do they arrive the next day?

Is buying from Amazon okay or you guys think I should go with Apple directly? Price for the iPad I'm looking to buy is the same on both websites.
Definitely go with Apple as Apple has a much better return policy and great customer service.

In what way is it much better?
If the OP decided she didn't like the color, storage size of the device, or just because, she could easily return it to Apple with no questions asked, without fear of a restocking fee or having to deal with subpar callcenter cs reps from Amazon. I believe the shipping quality is much better with Apple than with Amazon (a lot of the time).

This 2 year warranty thing is a myth, at least in the UK. UK consumer law provides for 6 months of what you might call a warranty, after that you have to prove the device was faulty when you bought it, which can be difficult. That protection, such as it is, last for 6 years.

Right, so to clarify and remove any (my) confusion, in the UK, when purchasing directly from Apple and forgetting any form of Apple Care, apart from the Apple Watch Edition, we only get 12 months warranty on Apple kit? Not two years as has been suggested in earlier posts?

Yeah it’s great that they’ll replace a 19 month iPhone if it goes faulty and can’t fault my experience with them over the years.

It seems some managers have been either very generous, or very keen to make a sale but the warranty above states employees are not authorised to offer extensions, so you’d have a battle if trying to claim on a verbal/hearsay extension to 2yrs. Having said that, I’ve had 5 replacements I wasn’t strictly entitled to and 1 refusal.

Beyond one year but within two, is not so much a ‘warranty’ - you may have to push a bit to get the assistance you need, but indeed you are currently (‘til brexit completes?) covered but only by the retailer who sold you the product, hence buying from Apple would be better as you’d be dealing directly with them for the whole 2 year thing. A different retailer might cover repair costs from a random repair shop or something rather than Apple themselves and/or repairs and servicing could be far more of a head ache.

Of course, hopefully your device won’t break down within 2 years anyway! We then get to the UK’s 6 year law, but under that it’s much more difficult to get service as you have to prove the fault existed at purchase so I wouldn’t rely on it.

Example: I recently asked at an Apple store if I could get a replacement lightning cable for my iPhone (beyond 1 year, within 2 years of purchase), and the staff member said only if I’d bought it from Apple he could (and definitely would). I didn’t bother contacting Curry’s as it’d probably be a complicated process to go through just for a cable, I just happened to be in the Apple store for something else.

Consumer rights apply not only to Apple.

There’s no added risk for op to buy iPad Pro from Amazon if some savings or easier delivery.
Obviously do check that seller is Amazon and not an unknown 3rd party, and that item is being sold as new.

When I looked at a new iPad Pro on Amazon.co.uk, it was on the Apple Store UK. And they offer AppleCare+ as an option.

I'm not 100% clear whether you would claim against Apple or Amazon if the need arises.

No, the two years thing does not exist in UK law (it comes from a misunderstanding of an EU directive), nor is there a one year thing either. It’s six months by law, and it’s not a warranty exactly. Apple cover the first 12 months voluntarily under their own T&Cs, as do most companies who stand by their products.

After that 1yr warranty you still have some legal rights for a further 5 years, but it’s not automatic. You have to have a good case the device was faulty when you bought it, and the compensation may not cover a full replacement. But many people do get replacements by quoting the law in store, especially in the product’s second year.

What are you thoughts on getting Apple Care? is it worth it? I'm planning on buying Magic Keyboard and I feel like i might end up dropping my iPad while using it with magic keyboard. It doesn't seem that iPad attaches with the magic keyboard very strongly...

There is no two year thing in the UK before Brexit or after. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 is the UKs implementation of EU Directive 1999/44/EC but it gives UK consumers six years of limited rights instead of the minimum two required by the directive. The terms of the EU’s 2 year rights are no better than the 6 years in the UK.

Mine is hard to get off it’s so strong. I have AC +, i replaced a 11” 2018 for $65AUD with it few months ago so well worth it imo.
