I am hoping for a high-res screen option and better hard drive CTO pricing. The money is in the bank just awaiting.... :D

When I sell my g5 imac I am seriously considering just getting a macbook pro and having that with my macbook. One stays at home more thats all lol

Should I order a new Mac Book Pro this week or should I wait for a processor upgrade? I currently don't have a computer.

What should I do? If I decide to wait, how long am I going to have to wait?

You definitely want to wait until Macworld. MacBook Pro updates or announcements are very likely.

I'm in the fortunate position of having no choice but to wait.. I don't have enough money to buy one before macworld anyway :)

i'm really excited to buy a macbook pro, its my first mac, and i'm waiting since the first rumor of an upgrade in the MacWorld came out.
I am hoping for penryn 2.5 and 256 GPU in the low end
and pleasee apple ship it in the same week, i'll be really pissed if shipping starts near February!

I suspect it will 2.4 in the low and 2.6 in the high end. And I'm really excited to purchase a MBP as well. I've been holding out for a while now...

Hi all, another newbie here, coming from PC. I tried various Linux distributions and of course all Windows versions, but after Vista I decided gonna make the jump :D
I am also planning to buy a macbook pro, 17", gonna use it for my work as a webdesigner. I also can't wait for Macworld expo... checkin this site on rumors evry day..

i ordered an 2.6/250 the other day. They "might" get an update but for the business uses that i'll have, it'll be more than efficient. I'll probably kick myself but oh well.. Such is life with technology

Apple will need to keep up with the competition. New MBP may be announced but shipping could be a short while later.

Though, I'm concerned that if Apple do release an ultra portable laptop they may not announce a MBP ( especially if its a new enclosure design ) in fear of overshadowing this or other new hardware announcements.

Only buy if you really, really need to... no one knows what Apple will announce in 2 weeks time.

because at least the refurbished one would have less or maybe no more defects and bugs

whereas the new one definitely will have some problem(s) when it comes out

which makes some ppl think that its better to buy the tested version rather than become the tester of it and its worth more to buy

although, there will be the rev for the new stuffs, but again, how long again did you want to wait for every rev? :D

technology never ends :D

Have a backup

I am looking forward to the surprises at MacWorld like many, but they may not have what you are lookng for with some specific upgrades. Since you are interested in a MacBook Pro, my suggestion is to get a low end MacBook for now if you really need one for email and general tasks. Amazon has one for $1100 and there's no tax.

Later, when the MacBook Pro comes out and rumors have said that a Blu-ray drive may be a very good possibility for an option. This will cost you much more than a regular MacBook as you probably already know. And you never know how long it will be ready for shipping.

So, if you decide to get the MacBook and later see a great MacBook Pro, you may want to get that, also. You now have a great backup in case either computer needs to be repaired and is will be gone for a period of time. I have just had my MacBook hard drive replaced through Applecare and after hanging up the phone, it was back with me in 3 days. :) I use .Mac to sync my Macs and the new Leopard can sync email, datebook, address book, computer settings, even dock settings now.

Whatever you do, have fun.
P.S. If the MacBook Pro comes out with the Blu-ray drive, I guess I will then have something really special to look forward in getting very soon.:)

I was just looking at Windows laptops for my friend, whom I cannot convert, and I was quite surprised at the specs of a Dell for half the price; (not in any way condoning purchasing a Dell or Windows PC).
2MB Webcam, 120GB Hard Drive, 2.0GHz SR and 2GB RAM.
Now, for something under £500, that's not bad.
Just made me even more confident that the MBP will be updated :D!

If you buy it through the internet you get your 14 days buyers remorse. I have a new 17" arriving or my wife tomorrow. I am not that fussed about new stuff coming out as I will get it in time anyway.

17" MBP or your wife arriving tomorrow? Tough call.

You really must live a great life in you can always get a new one (which am I referring to ???) as new stuff comes out.

That's a welcome laugh today! I'd imagine he's rich if he can keep getting newer and newer models.... :D

The greatest thing about the post was how many directions it could have gone.

17" for his wife arriving tomorrow.....would most people be expecting him to be referring to a computer???

Thanks for the tip. There was one direction that I had missed...
