Would you wait?

I would wait for the update. Why?

Because there is such an ubiquitous issue with the new keyboard that makes the keys stick when heated, which may be fixed. Also, the KL will have much better graphics performance with along with it being faster.

Also, its right around the corner!

I'd wait. I don't do anything that's graphic-intense, so I now have a Late 2013 15" and a Mid-2015 15"; both with discrete gpu. Both are indistinguishable performance-wise to the mid-level 2016 15", and neither have the keyboard/trackpad of the 2016

Well, yeah, when you don't use the capacity of the machines you won't see any difference. But the 2016 will easily smoke the earlier models in dGPU-intensive tasks, and do it with less heat and noise.

Not ubiquitous, not even close. But it may be that the keyboard will be updated.

If you continue to wait fkr updates you'll be waiting forever. Then again it seems like a lot of people are justifying waiting on things that aren't promised, just mere speculation

First iterations from apple is always riddled with issues. This is why I returned my tbMBP and went with an established 2015.

So rather than wait for the issue to be fixed you went back two years model wise? Sounds counterproductive

Exactly - Counterproductive? I'd say no. The new Apple Touchbar is as counterproductive and counterintuitive based on my needs as it often times required of me to take my eyes off the screen to accomplish certain tasks which a keyboard shortcut can do. Now if Apple put out a 15" without the TB, I would have been all over that but for me it feels too gimmicky.

Plus the additional battery consumption because of the TB, tasked the battery even more thus reducing portability seems to make it even more counterproductive. But again these are just my two cents and others may disagree but to each and one's own when it comes to practicability and function. I do agree with Apple making the leap with USB C forcing third party accessory makers to follow suit in effort to shake up the industry. I would love to have one cable to charge and transfer data between devices but having a USB3, TB2, and SD card reader when we still rely on these makes me more productive. While the TouchID I admit is somewhat productive if you use it. My AW series 2 does this without having to unlock with my fingerprint.

The battery life of the 2016 15" is better for what people typically use the battery for than the 2015. The touch bar doesn't seem to be a power hog.
