Yup I totally agree...
who are the 6% of MacRumor members that want Steve out of apple?
If they want Steve kicked out, then they're not passionate about apple...

They probably think they would be worth Steve Jobs' salary themselves...
(Which is $1 per year :D)

wow...this is totally absurd!!! Without steve there would be no apple today!! What are you people thinking!?!!!?

Not to defend the OP (because I think his logic was very, very wrong), but Jobs' past performance does not have any relevance to his current performance. Hitler was a loyal soldier during WWI, but that doesn't make his actions during WWII good.

Whoa, too many unsavory comments can come from this one. I am not gonna touch it.

Ok, Heil Jobs! (couldn't resist)

Even with your little joke, you prove my point. Past actions do not determine current or future actions. Hitler was just the first example I could think of. Perhaps OJ? Lindsay Lohan? Nixon? How many would you like?

OJ was never convicted, and he lost the book rights. :D

But he was found liable in a civil case. Either way, he went from Pro Football/smal movie career to "not guilty of murder" guy.
I would hate to mess up this thread with the comments about my opinion on civil cases. But I do agree with the latter point, the" not guilty of murder guy"

Good, then we can move on and agree that Steve is doing a great job and that this thread can end now.

That's stupid... I shouldn't really credit this thread with an answer, but look how far the company has come since his return in 1997...

I'm sure most of you with a brain cell would agree he hasnt done a bad job really

Oh, yeah, I think Steve Jobs is doing a wonderful job, I never once disagreed with that, or likely ever will. What he has done in the past has shaped my view on him. There probably isn't much he could do now that would change that. He may have a fall from grace sooner or later, but that is almost expected nowadays, but I do not wish that on him.

I'm sure there are many companies that would love a "fiasco" like the iPhone on their hands

Whether the iPhone will be deemed a success, only time will tell, but I'm certain that Apple aren't going to drop it like the cube.

I think that sort of says it all. Steve jobs starts at Apple, shares are worth $3.50

Ten years later, shares are worth $135.

And you think Steve jobs has led Apple wrongly?

Too Early to Judge iPhone

Look, if we were discussing the iPod a few weeks into it's launch with the same thinking we would all be calling it a flop and a fiasco, and look what happened there. iPhone could not have had a better launch, probably the most successful of its kind ever. But it is too early to tell if it is a hit like iPod or a flop way ahead of it's time like newton, the technology of which ended up in other cheaper PDAs and made other manufacturer's big money. We'ill see....

No, Steve Jobs should not resign. He should be sacked. When he came back to Apple it was a hugely successful company and he has turned it in to a complete disaster that no-one has heard of. I don't know anyone who has or wants any of their products.

I agree! Wholeheartidly!

Although i'd go as far as to say he should be crucified... upside down!

Then again i didn't actually know the iPhone was a flop... Must have missed it during all the news about how it was the fastest selling mobile phone ever with queues at every store...

My current contract here in the UK with Orange is £35. I get 900 anytime minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data (not that I use it!) and I never go over it. Plus, I'm not tied in to any contract!

UK contracts are much better than US ones, the iPhone has a fairly cheap tariff in the US for what it is.

Some forum members here might think so.

They're trying to make the point that "Apple is greedy" by getting into a contract with AT&T where (analyst guesses are that) AT&T pays Apple a few hundred dollars for every iPhone customer (instead of passing that money back to the customers in the form of a less expensive iPhone), increasing Apple's revenue, and undoubtedly adding value to stockholders.

You are full of crap!
The iPhone is not a flop (yet)
Going with AT&T only may be why it would flop,
Going with Version could of been why it flopped!
How is verison the best? huh?
They would of got the iPhone and turned off every feature it had, just so the user had to pay verison extra money to use them!

There would be an even louder upcry from everyone if they went with verison!
lets not forget they have to make 2 versions of the phone if they went with verison! because the rest of the world is GSM!

The only way to get around the problem of a provider, is to open it up. There are obvious reasons why apple did not make an unlocked phone!

And the AppleTV isn't a flop either!
You need to get your facts straight!

Let's face the facts here folks.

Apple's exclusivity to At&t will be the iPhone's downfall. Apple went with them for pure greed. To get the $300 kickback that the consumer should have gotten and by taking a percentage of the monthly service fee. If Apple wasn't so adamant about getting a piece of the monthly pie then I am sure Verizon would have went with the iPhone. Still they should have went with more than one, but if you are going to only go with one, go with the best--Verizon.

This is the sad truth that us fanboys don't want to admit (me included).

This will also hurt the Mac. A kind of negative Halo Effect. This hurts Apple in so many ways beyond the iPhone and will reverse any Halo Effect seen from the iPod.

And let's not forget AppleTV. That's 2 flops in a row.

Thanks Steve!

How can you call the iPhone a flop, its been on the market for less than a month.

This is hands down one of the most ridiculous posts I have read on Macrumors.

Yogi Berra would have said it better, there isn't a company on the planet that would like to fail as badly as Apple has under Steve Jobs.
Stock price, market share, street cred, product caché, per square foot sales in the Apple Stores, etc. etc.
