I tried doing a swap from the black to the white band for my SGS but stupid guys at Apple said that the white band wasn't compatible with my watch. I'm pretty upset right now because they even said if I bought another band of any color and if I had any problems they wouldn't be able to do anything warranty wise because it wasn't compatible with my device to begin with. I was like WTFF MAN?! That's ridiculous!!! So, I'm having my husband pick up a couple bands for me tomorrow. I love your combo btw.

Their wording may have bene wrong, but Apple will only swap bands to make watches match actual ones you can order (so on my silver Sport, I could swap a blue Sport Band for a white, green, or pink, but not black). Since the Space Grey Sport only is available with the black band, there isn't a swap option. For the regular Apple Watch, I think you might only be able to swap black for white, as the blue/green/pink were not offered as order-able combinations.

As for the warranty argument, I think the person you spoke with was just plain wrong. Even though there's plenty of "wrong" combinations (stainless steel lugs on aluminum watches), Apple allows the mixing & matching.

If it were me (and as many others have said), I'd have done a built-to-order option for everyone and eliminated a lot of the hassles (although the band and watch itself would probably be shipped together, but in separate packaging).

Just asking out of curiosity. Why did you take your package to the Apple Store?

Glad you got your watch and love it as much as some of us, here, do! :)

I picked it up from my local UPS that morning and was very close to my local Apple Store, wanted them to help me set everything up for me, even though I could of done that myself lol. Just to be safe

Picked up a blue sport band for my SG sport yesterday at the apple store :D

That looks good, may have to go score a blue band tomorrow.

Thanks, I thinks it makes for a great contrast. It makes the watch very BAMM!!:D

You know what color I would love and I can see them adding it at some point is a RED band, I think that would look cool with the SG watches. At least it would match some of my BRED Jordans, lol.

Thanks for the pic with white band. I think the 42 would be a more natural fit for you.

It's really a personal choice. I tried it on in store and much prefer the 38mm. Photos can be deceptive. Take a look at some of my older posts for more photos. 38mm fits me perfectly and is small enough to be discrete. I def made the correct choice.

You can't say the 42mm would look better. 38mm is sized correctly for my wrist given the size of it. 42mm would drown m wrist.

Well its your choice and if you are happy with the size everything is fine.
For my personal taste it looks way too small and more like a kids watch on you.

You are prob the same kind of person thinks white is feminine so it's pointless discussing this.
Many men here are wearing/buying 38mm. As you said it's a personal thing, but a kids watch it ain't. Statements like that are untrue. Without seeing my whole physique and the watch size in relation to it it is impossible for you to say. Anyway, hope you are happy with your larger watch.

Girlfriend's 38mm SG just arrived in the post! Still waiting for mine and she won't even let me touch it!

Not that you would, don't listen to Mapple66, he is totally anti-38 and quite frankly is getting very annoying with his constant 38 mockery. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but he has made it clear a 100 times that he doesn't like the 38 and he needs to give it a rest. Secretively, I think he's trying to justify the fact that he made the wrong choice buying the 42.

Well i had both Modells here and tested them side by side out. On both wrists one watch.
The 38mm alone is maybe not too small but in comparsion side by side i felt like that.
And is I wrote some posts above its a personal taste.
The 38mm does not look like a kids/women watch on a wrist up to 170mm, but on a wrist of 190mm+ it starts to be too small in my opinion.

And at least: Im not dead set on the 42mm.
For my small wrist the 38mm maybe would be the better choice, because all straps would fit without problems.
I can not wear a 42mm with sport strap on my 150mm wrist for example.
Milanese and leather loop are a little too long but still work.
The watch size is not the problem, only the band lenght.
Because of that I do not understand why someone with 30mm bigger wrist still want a 38 #

They're getting a bit tiresome really. Having looked at the pics mapple66 posted, I think his small wrists suited the 38mm better, but if he prefers the 42mm I'm good with that and happy he likes it. I have the 38mm SS WSB - I don't think it looks too small or feminine, so it matters not to me what others think. It's an excellent gadget and if I wanted the larger one I'd have paid the extra £40.

Maybe we should start a thread commenting on how peoples iPhones look in their hands - my 6+ looks huge because I have small hands!!

My wrists are 180mm, where does that leave me?!!

That's fine Mapple66. But could you please stop putting people down for choosing the 38 because that's what THEY like?! I'm sure for some people it's very disheartening to hear someone tell them their watch looks like a "kids watch" when they shelled out some good money for it. If someone ASKS for an opinion then you can simply say I like the XXmm better on you, if you need to comment at all. But the negative comments to people whom are just "showing off their watch" you need to keep to yourself.

I try to explain: a normal watch for a man is a kind of jewelry - in Germany it actually is the only jewelry a man can wear beside the wedding ring (at least for "business men"). Due to this jewelry aspect, there are some unwritten rules that apply to watches - and therefore to smartwatches too.

These rules are not written in stone, so they may change because watches only will last a few years because they are no electronic things.

One unwritten rule is, that a watch is part of the owners personality, small scratches and dings show the story behind a watch and because of this they tell the story of the owner of the watch. This is one of the reasons why people buy new watches (the new owner creates the "story" of a watch with every ding or scratch), or want watches with a "history": A used watch that shows the story of a previous owner (Look up Rolex COMEX, or think of an inherited watch from your father).

Although I'm in the "why does anyone care what someone else does" camp, I found this an interesting read.

I am woman who hadn't worn a watch in decades and didn't understand why people still wore them for just the time with clocks and cellphones so readily available.

I started with the Milanese Loop

and later bought the Classic Buckle

I'm loving both bands, but right now I think the Classic Buckle has the edge. It's very light and nice looking.

Thanks!! I never read his older posts so didn't know this. You are probably right! Each to their own I believe. :)
