This thread is a place to post your photos and specs of your early Intel Macs to celebrate the creation of the new forum. I'm excited to see what everyone has!

Here's mine: 2009 Macbook A1181, running 10.12 Sierra, 240GB SSD with 4GB RAM

It's my daily driver for web browsing and light email/writing.

This is an old picture, but I don't have many more than this. 20" Core 2 Duo iMac, and a Core Duo MacBook. Some iPods from the era are pictured with it too. I have many more early Intel machines, enough that I cannot fit them into one picture.

Spec wise the MB is the BTO one with the 2.0 processor and 2GB RAM. iMac has 3 gigs, stock 2.16 otherwise.

I still have two 2009 Minis.

An early 2009 C2D 2.0Ghz 120GB HDD BTO with 4GB RAM now booting El Capitan off a FW800 SSD.

A stock late 2009 C2D 2.53Ghz running El Capitan off the internal HDD (plan to start booting it off a FW800 SSD hopefully sometime this year).

Sadly my White MacBook from the Early Intel era died some years back.

Here are some images of my Early 2015 Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro. I've been holding off from buying a new MacBook Pro until they release an M1 mac with more ports. I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us!

I have a handful of early Intel Macs. :p I've gotten a few white (and black) MacBooks over the past couple years and they're a delight to use. The keyboards are some of my favorite, and they still do some tasks really well for me.

I've got a 24" iMac Core 2 Duo as well, and this thing is awesome since it's the largest computer screen I own. I use it for website work sometimes for extra screen space.

Not pictured is a 20" aluminum Core 2 Duo Early 2008 iMac as well, and technically it was my mom's, but I have since basically claimed ownership of it, a Core Duo Mac Mini. That one is my YouTube-while-exercising machine. I'll get specs posted for them all soon hopefully. :)

Ooooohhhh I should ask my mom to get a picture of hers. It's my original core duo (the one that wasn't even fully 64bit). Got me through school and later I sold it to my siblings. I do believe my mom was still using it for light web browsing. The battery died a long long time ago and they replaced it with a 3rd party one....which is also dead so now the macbook needs to be plugged in at all times

If it can run mavericks, what's stopping you from going up to Yosemite/El Cap? Is it possible or does acceleration break or something like that?

As of right now there has been no hack for Yosemite/El Cap to enable full graphics acceleration. It was not possible on Mavericks until this last summer. Hopefully he or someone else is able to port a similar kext to those newer OSes. There may be other problems that I'm forgetting about, but at this time anything newer than Mavericks is an absolute drag.

That's cool that mavericks can run on those now. I had always kind of avoided the really early intel macs because I figured they were stuck in the "too old for new programs, too new for community support" zone. Good to know that's changing.

It is worth noting though that as of right now you have to have an ATI GPU for this to work, so no 24" iMac or GMA chipsets will work with it. You can still install Mavericks, but without graphics acceleration which makes it much less pleasant.
