Out of curiosity (and I don't know so please be kind) would the rating have anything to do with the bands as well as the watch itself or is it just the actual watch piece? I know Apple specifically mentions about the leather bands but maybe water damages the bands in general more then it does the watch. Just an observation. After seeing all these tests people are posting, particularly the one on the main Macrumors page with the swimmer and submersion, I was thinking maybe the watch is better off then we all think and that the concern is more for the bands. Anyone else have thoughts or can clarify?

Apple certainly built the watch better than advertised, so they don't have to cover water damage. However, the watch itself does have its limit. Resistances deteriorate and while the first attempt to submerge the watch 140ft of water will succeed doesn't mean the seal can hold a second time. Do so at your own risk. As for the bands, only the ML, Link, and sports bands can handle the water.

I probably won't shower with mine but it's nice to know you dont' have to take it off to wash hands vigorously.

I am not say you can't!

I am saying why would you?

Showering will not hurt your socks but you take those off before you shower don't you? People here get so defensive.

No one is defense. You can use a watch in the shower. A socks serve no purpose. Common sense

How exactly are you using it in the shower? It's too loud for Siri, it's too wet for the touchscreen, so all I can really do with it is see the clock face.

If you phone rings and you want to answer it you cut the water off. :D

I find the touch screen fairly responsive overall when wet.

Someone here doesn't have an :apple: watch. :p First off Siri doesn't speak on the watch for purposes of speed. My touch screen works just fine in the shower.

I never said Siri speaks, I said it's too loud for Siri. Siri can't interpret my speech reliably over the noise of the shower.

I have to dry my hands before I have success with the touchscreen. If a water droplet on my hand meets a water droplet on the screen of the Watch, it seems like it conducts the touch to the location of the droplet on the screen, not where I was trying to tap. Am I the only one with this problem?

<snip> Why don't you wear glasses while taking a shower while you're at it. <snip>

Wait wait wait wait just a minute!

Wearing glasses while showering? Genius! I'll finally be able to find the soap easily and see if I'm really clean while I'm still in the shower! Love this idea! Thanks!

You, my friend, have a very load shower.;)

In the event you receive any type of notification, as those who don't have an apple watch would do with their phone. You can view it.

More access to info.

I haven't had a real need to use other than to ask it to set a timer. Understood and acted perfectly.

Ya I can see that command working as it is only a few words. I wore mine in the shower so I can ask Siri to play songs, the song titles are a bit longer than a timer command so Siri would always get the wrong song. I just found it too hard to use in the shower so I stopped wearing it.

I should give it another try since a lot of other people are saying the touch screen works fine for them. I would definitely wear the Watch in the shower if I was expecting an important call or text, but the chances of needing to be reachable at 6am are slim.

If you can't use your touchscreen, simply blow it. If Siri can't understand you, hold your mic closer. I did also give a command to open Pandora so I can play music in the shower, and that worked too.

I use my Apple watch in the shower ever morning. I have a Bluetooth speaker and can change music while I shower it's pretty awesome. Its nice to check stocks, see my calendar, and emails while in the shower. Plus I don't have to worry about missing important calls. Watch can handle water but if something happens I have Apple care. Not going to baby this watch like some of u do.

Even without a drought, I don't like to waste water.

My goal in the shower is to get clean and get out of the shower as quickly as I can. OK, occasionally I'll give myself an extra minute under the water when I done cleaning but before I turn off the water.

No way will I spend time looking at stocks, calendar, etc. I can't wait the few minutes it takes to shower before doing this? My lord, what do you miss by waiting a few minutes before doing these activities?

And if you are concerning about getting that very rare call that can't leave a message, etc, leave the watch, or iPhone for that matter, just outside the shower and reach out to get it if the call must be answered, perhaps turning off the water first.
