Even without a drought, I don't like to waste water.

My goal in the shower is to get clean and get out of the shower as quickly as I can. OK, occasionally I'll give myself an extra minute under the water when I done cleaning but before I turn off the water.

No way will I spend time looking at stocks, calendar, etc. I can't wait the few minutes it takes to shower before doing this? My lord, what do you miss by waiting a few minutes before doing these activities?

And if you are concerning about getting that very rare call that can't leave a message, etc, leave the watch, or iPhone for that matter, just outside the shower and reach out to get it if the call must be answered, perhaps turning off the water first.

^what the heck? Rare call? I get a ton of calls and it's nice to see who's calling instead of rushing out the bathroom to pick up an important call. I actually enjoy taking showers and take two per day. I like to quickly glance at my calendar, check stocks, and plan my day while taking a shower. It only takes a few seconds so why not if I have a water resistant watch? I never bring my phone into the bathroom especially during showers because steam can cause water damage and I don't want to risk dropping the phone in water. Do you even have the Watch?

I understand both point of views. I would like to think I am the person who is in and out of the shower, but I "bask" in the heat haha.

With that, I do shower with my watch. It is a habit I formed with the pebble, and have been doing it for a few years now. It is a good time to clean the watch.

It's just a feeling of self importance. Nobody needs to be doing anything in the shower other than get clean.

A doctor on call, someone expecting an important call from a radio station competition, a runner with a sweaty watch, a mountain biker with a muddy watch, a parent or expecting parent waiting on an important call abut their child, someone waiting to hear about the result of a surgery on a loved one, someone having phone sex with a lover. These people might like the idea of showering with their watch occasionally (even just once), without having issues of self-importance.

So up until 3 weeks ago, you rushed out of the shower often to pick up the phone?

I'm trying to wrap my mind around this. Is this a thing?

The only reason I can see to showering with the Apple Watch is, well wait, no that isn't one. Ok. Guess not.

Nobody is so busy that they can't pause for an extra couple of seconds to pull their iPhone out of their pocket to see who is calling. Having an Watch is just a feeling of self importance. Nobody needs one.

How about that for imposing your values on others?

"Do I even have the Watch"? Where does that come from and why does it matter? Yes, I have one. But even if I didn't my comments would be the same.

You get tons of calls? So if you get these tons of calls during the shower and extrapolate to the entire day, your phone must ring constantly. Are you able to eat without talking on the phone? How about when taking care of special business? Does the world collapse if you don't check your calendar or stocks during the time you are in the shower? If you have the time to do all of these things while in the shower (talk, plan day, stocks, calendar) I fear you are wasting water and I find that unacceptable.

If you can't use your touchscreen, simply blow it. If Siri can't understand you, hold your mic closer. I did also give a command to open Pandora so I can play music in the shower, and that worked too.

Thanks Cyberpower! Blowing the water off the touchscreen helps tremendously. Also, my issue with Siri turned out to be a general flakiness issue that I solved by unpairing/repairing the Watch. I used the Watch in the shower this morning and asked her to play songs with 75% success rate (1 out of 4 song requests failed). I love how you can put your arm down before Siri prints out your speech and she will still complete your request. Now that Siri is working, a whole new world of use cases is open to me, such as shower music.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks, but I had a discussion with one of the folks in AppleCare+ Agreement Administration this afternoon and they confirmed that evidence of water ingress in the watch will not be covered by the standard warranty of the watch.

They agreed that the watch is designed to a higher standard than the IPX7 rating, so that water ingress would indicate that rating had been exceeded and would not be covered by warranty.

The watch has indicators inside that will show evidence of water ingress. As with the iPhone, employees at Apple's retail stores will be looking for these to show signs of water damage when they open the watch.

So those that choose to shower with it - I hope you have AppleCare+ for the likelihood that one of those high pressure sprays gets water into the watch.

Yes, but the point of a warranty is that the device is supposed to perform a certain way, but in the presence of a defect it doesn't. Therefore, it doesn't matter what the water indicator says, the product is warranted for IPX7 which means will be exposed to water, and therefore, may fail in the presence of a defective part or assembly. The iPhone on the other hand can not be exposed to water at all, therefore, the water indicator is proof of warranty use violation.

Good luck to Apple holding the line on this one. I'll bet if a customer makes enough of a stink, Apple will replace it no questions asked.

Make sure you have good, cushiony shoes on then when you take it in, so you can work up a really good tantrum. :)
