I hear there's some really tall and cool looking puddles in Iceland! That'd just be a short plane ride for you wouldn't it?Guess we need to go find a big puddle and try them....

Ken's dream link!
£2.5k for 5 days you say? Truth is I could do the money. Just would worry about Mrs AFB!lol...
I reckon I can do Iceland for £2,500 all in... maybe less. Depending on how long I am there. Minimum would be 5 days as it is bigger than I thought and the two main sites I hope to hit are at opposite ends - of course they are!
Dream link... lol you know me so well. Saw that the other day and thought ooo Zagato, nice.... thy did a good job on the Aston Martin DB4 of course... so I knew it would be silly money.... putting this into perspective, I could never use this... and for £2K less I could get a M10 AND the holy grail Noctilux!!!! now there is a sentence you wont read often... one with both Noctilux and less included in it... alas no, they are both on the dream list right now.... work is a bit volatile shall we say so I am in save as much as possible mode again.

I hear that Ken knows a bloke with luxury camper-vans! Can they fit on the Chunnel train? Could possibly do an extended road trip up and back again in one or two of them as a small group and share the costs.I’d like to do Iceland some time, but man it’s expensive.
Pretty sure its a long way to drive! I'm assuming a fly drive.I hear that Ken knows a bloke with luxury camper-vans! Can they fit on the Chunnel train? Could possibly do an extended road trip up and back again in one or two of them as a small group and share the costs.
Where's your spirit of adventure! I was imagining a leisurely drive from France, up through Denmark to Norway and then a jet across to Iceland! Imagine all the opportunities along the way! You'd probably want a good ten days to two weeks though.Pretty sure its a long way to drive! I'm assuming a fly drive.
Not so bad if you rent a camper van, share the cost with a couple other photographers, shop in the local markets and cook your own food or keep it simple and eat sandwiches every day.I’d like to do Iceland some time, but man it’s expensive.

Camper vans are the only way to go as accommodations can be few and, more importantly, far between. The van thing also means you're on sight when you want to be as you can stop for the night just about anywhere.

I like to take my time when travelling, can't stand the fly in, fly out thing! The ability to have plenty of time and go where you want when you want is a magical thing. If it's made to be an epic trip, the women folk may even want to come along. Well that works for my partner. We are closer to Iceland in Scotland than people are in Norway. So wouldnt burn time on getting to the volcanic island by going through France. I do like the sound of a road trip mind you

I'm lucky that mine likes an adventure and a bit of an escape from the day-to-day stuff. Fortunately, she doesn't make me go camping! I'm the one in this relationship that doesn't do the roughing it!Not for mine!
I prefer the 5 star option to! We've not been on holiday together in about nine years.I'm lucky that mine likes an adventure and a bit of an escape from the day-to-day stuff. Fortunately, she doesn't make me go camping! I'm the one in this relationship that doesn't do the roughing it!

I keep trying but she prefers to be at home.
I'd rather have the holiday than the money! Gets difficult breaking up the routine.Thats a good thing! Our annual pilgrimage to the sun and see is getting ridiculous. The cost of holidays are a joke now. I dont know how we can afford it.
My clan like comfort. I prefer comfort of course but I am prepared to rough it if it achieves my goal.
I can get them to go places but we all know what its like having a non-photographer in tow.
Thankfully my kids are getting to the stage now where I can leave the boss on her own with them and go take a time out for myself.
This year we are trying somewhere new it looks to have an interesting bay front location but I dont know whether to just pack light i.e. one camera 1-2 lenses, or whether to go large and bring tripod and filters and some "just in case" lenses. I am leaning towards the minimalist approach but the thought of the decision is making me nervous... Thoughts welcome.

Regarding the packing light, I think I've always regretted not having a tripod with me than taking it and not using it.
I bought one of those 6 inch ones when I went to Amsterdam for work. It was okay with a 50 mm. But I found I could use it with a long Swiss acre mount and my 24-70 by counterbalancing it. Way over it's recommended weight, but worked fine.
If you've got it with you, you have the option. If it's at home not so much.So i have 2 small tripod options. The little 6 inch manfrotto pixi or a mefoto daytrip tiny but folds out to reasonable size. Kit will fit on it fine. But do I take the heavy artillery or just a rangefinder and a couple lenses. What do you think?
Not from that link.Briefly coming back to the polarizer discussion.
Check out this video:
He's using it on a 15-30mm Tamron. You can see it work pretty good when he's turning it while shooting video.

This is wrecking my head now i dont know if it will or wont affect it. It is to do with the angles of light passing through the polariser and hitting the lens relative to the sun, the different angles cause the polariser effect to change. Logic tells me that as it is a lens and filter combo issue then the sensor is irrelevant. Sorry...
