Really like it. It's faster and smoother than Catalina on my MacBook. Zero issues so far apart from a heart-stopper when I clicked on Documents to see it empty (it unchecked syncing in iCloud settings and created a "local" Documents folder for some reason, iCloud Documents was still there and full of all my files).
If you didn’t make a back up before installing a beta, that’s just asking for trouble. If you don’t have a backup in general, you simply just don’t care about data. Backups are extremely important.

Of course I made backups. Time Machine, CCC bootable, BackBlaze.

Making backups doesn’t mean resolving iCloud sync issues across multiple devices is any less of a nightmare.

This includes iCloud backups in case of bad juju. Been down this road before and I agree that it is heart-stopping. I’m glad you have backups.

I'm running the Public Beta on a separate partition on my 10th gen. MacBook Pro 13". I find it both busy and cartoonish. Right now I much prefer the stable and understated Catalina.

The Big Sur dynamic wallpaper (not that neon one that comes installed with the beta, but the real one) is quite neat, it has some added eye candy (clouds/mist) and really goes quite well with the translucent menu bar (hey, I like it!)

I like it for the most part. It feels very stable so far. I guess that I will get used to the rounded square icons in the Dock eventually, I rather liked the varying shapes for easy identification.

There are a couple of things that I don't like about the changes to the Mail app: being able to click above the list of messages to jump to the top after having scrolled; seeing the Junk folders for all of my email accounts under a grouping called Junk like Inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc like in previous versions of the OS.

After using it for few days - I can say that I am enjoying this public beta; The only issue I am facing right now is Safari crashes and takes down the entire system. I hope that it will be fixed in next beta update when that happens.

I am not too fixated on the icons and its design; I loved the old icons and I kinda like the new icons as well.

I was hoping that preview could have got few more features, its such a great tool.
Menu bar is bit hard to pick if the background is light but for now, I have put the default wallpaper and it looks very good on it.

so far, I give 👍

I love how Big Sur looks. Looks pretty neat to me.
This beta has been surprisingly rock solid on my 2019 Mac Pro. Only thing that doesn’t work for me is google drive but other than that, it’s become my daily driver.

I still love the color tones, the dynamic wallpaper, the icons are miles ahead of Yosemite-->Catalina IMO, and I have not experienced any crashes. In my case (MacBook Pro 13"/Intel i5/Intel Iris Plus Graphics/8GB RAM/250GB SSD) it's far more stable than Catalina. Catalina had a ton of broken/inconsistent features (random CPU usage over 99% on all four cores, dark mode was completely broken in auto mode, it took a minute or two to wake from sleep, etc) and Big Sur Beta is a huge improvement. If not for seeing screenshots of the update I wouild have never installed it. I'm not big on updates as they often break stuff or make things look awful (ever since flat UI became a standard, I've hated it--not to say there aren't excellent flat designs, such as the modern Hulu app, the Apple TV interface, Apple Watch, but most are tons of whitespace, and an interface that resembles Windows 1.x or Amiga Workbench 1.5, or Tandy DeskMate from the 80s) so I thank the forums for keeping us informed. First time in a long time I've actually liked an update--last time was probably iOS 6 on my iPad 3.

I’m really loving it. Despite the performance being horrible on my MacBook Pro (13” Late 2013), it runs better and more stable than Cataclisma. I’m looking forward to see how it runs on the new Apple Silicon Macs

Its OK. The desktop is a mess as there isn't a lot of contrast between what's on top and the background windows. Since it adopts the iOS look, which is one app (mostly)at a time, this doesn't translate well to a desktop analogy.

try a different wallpaper. honestly, i think the menubar is where it should be, have wanted this more-transparent bar for a long time...

I have following issues on 2017 MBA,

Very high temps on CPU which causes system failure if I don't run Mac Fan Control at 100% speed on the fan. Without the fan control the MacBook sits at 95 deg idle and 105 with safari open. I've double checked heatsink/fan/thermal paste and all are good. In Catalina the MacBook was sat about 35 degrees on automatic default fan and 60'ish on load.

Other than the stupid high temps it's pretty good for other than the loss of TOR which I use for torrents has stopped working.

just wondering if mac fan control is part of the problem, ie... is it fully compatible with big sur? those temps are unusual...

Love it. Modern. Sleek. Something you enjoy sitting down to and using. Safari IS way faster than Catalina as well.

All my Design programs run flawlessly on PB1 as well. Icons look great.

if they take away the overuse of dropshadows it on some icons the design become perfect.. But like always with betas some software runs alot slower. Like lightroom photoshop and some problems with audio software like logic and the soundcards control program annd plugins

i had to revert to catalina on my imac, as 9 of my essential logic x plugins were not seen by the app... at all. the developers confirmed that they will have to update their AU plugins for mac os 11 & logic. just mentioning!
