So... is there one person that thinks this is a good idea?!
It think it would be a good idea for iPhone/Touch owners, who do not already subscribe and hence do not have a receiver, and who would like to subscribe.
So... is there one person that thinks this is a good idea?!
and you have to have the additional internet plan right, on top of your regular subscription?
I was about to slam this as being a complete waste, but if you've got an iPod Touch, this actually makes sense. Since you can't get wi-fi on the road, it's an easy way to convert the iTouch into a satellite radio receiver for the car. Still, $120 is a little steep considering there are full receivers that cost well below that. And I'd say the benefit for iPhone owners is a little shaky for that money.
No, this is Sat Radio using Sat transmissions not over 3g or Wifi. The iphone/ipod is just the head displaying song information and changing the channels.
I've found through renting cars that the in dash solution not only looks better, but for some reason sounds better than a out of band sat radio solution.
Isn't easier just to change the head on your indash stereo than to go through the fuglyness of this? plus you have to take the iphone/ipod down and out of sight every time you park your car.
Like posted earlier, things like wunderadio make the need for XM useless. I just canceled yesterday. And no Pandora is not the same as wunderadio or XM if you are a fan of radio.
Hmm... Maybe this is the answer to my earlier question.who listen to radio?
who listen to radio?
So is it going to transmit the signal to your speakers via FM like those other cigarette lighter adaptors? If so that's going to completely suck and discounts a major point of having clear sat. radio in the first place.
I'm still trying to gigure that out as well.
There has got to be a headphone jack...if there isn't, this is more of a fail than the price.
I had Satellite radio in my car back in 2006, and 2007. I didn't renew my subscription because the stations I was listening to started getting bombarded more and more by advertising. If you remember, they first started out touting "commercial free radio".
It's sad to see Sirius and XM dying a slow death. Howard Stern alone would not be able to save them. This is what happens when technology evolves and advances so fast. I recently stopped someone from installing a satellite radio in their car and told them to instead get an iphone because of apps like Pandora, Wunderadio, iheart radio, etc.. (contract was up anyway). He later called and thanked me for helping him save his money.
Next in line will be the traditional cable companies and television. We are on the brink of everything being streamed over the internet. Once they optimize content for total delivery over the internet, for all movies, news, ABC, CBS, FOX, etc.... bye bye traditional cable t.v.
By the way I believe all of the above is why Google is so aggressive in positioning itself into every aspect of our lives. Be careful. If I were you I would also be slowly weening myself off of Google. Sorry for the digression.
