Still no SD Card Adapter?

Its been a while since 3.0 came out... has anyone came out with an iPhone/iPod touch SD card reader? It would be perfect for short trips when you don't want to take your laptop but still want the ability to email photos taken with a still camera.

someone has to be able to consolidate these things.

My iPhone will be to busy in it's TomTom dock for this!

I'm thinking of canceling one of my two XM subs and just using this in the car when it is released. Nice device. Good thing I have three phones, one is already doing the CoPilot thing.

For me, this could be a good deal. I travel a lot, and this stalk would let me get XM wherever I am; which allows me to listen to what I want to hear, including sports. I am concerned, however about the "magnetic antenna" that comes with it - if all they've done is build a receiver into the mount and use the iPOD/Phone as a head unit then the portability is lessened to the point of becomeing a hassle to take it on business trips.

The second possible advantage is, assuming TomTom gets a good enough GPS signal to work in this stalk is I now have a single music / GPS unit that I can take with me. If Apple allowed background streaming it would be even better since the GPS could interrupt the music to give directions; become a real 2 in 1 device.

Sirus/XM could tap into a whole new market with teh right pricing on the stalk / subscription.

$120 for this is nuts. Now, if I could use my iPhone as my GPS AND listen to sat. radio at the same time, I might consider the price.

The reason they are making this "sky dock" is to open up their base to a new market. I see a lot of people saying that "if you want satelite radio, go and get a stand alone, why use your iphone". People now a days, don't want multiple devices. If they did, the iphone wouldn't exist!!! Remember iPHONE is a phone and mp3 player, people wanted to have a phone and mp3 player in one device. I personally use my phone only for talk and data, not music. I have a seperate portable music player (xmp3). That being said, that is why 3rd party devices want to integrate into the iphone along with the option of getting a seperate device. The iphone/ipod is a "cool" device, and people usually want to choose 1 device. I know of people that loved the content of satelite radio, but when it came down to it, they chose the ipod touch because of how "cool" it was. Now, they can have their "cool" ipod touch and satelite radio in one device. Most people would not get a ipod touch, and then spend for a seperate device. Too much to carry around.

any ipod touch users exist?

Another thing people miss, is that the ipod touch does not have 3g to get internet radio. you need wi-fi. You can not get wi-fi on a drive of any decent distance, or in most areas outside of your house. The ipod touch is obviously more than a music player as they don't even have super large storage capacity. A lot of posters don't realize that most working age people don't have time to constanly download songs to their ipod, nor they want to pay for each individual song. Add to that a mature person listens to more than just music. If you buy 1 album, that is the cost of your months subscription! illegal downloads is another story for teenagers to deal with. Now, for the first time, you can go to your electronic store buy an ipod touch with sky dock. And aside from downloading the software, your ipod touch is instantly a great audio entertainment device. All the music, talk, sports, etc instantly. You dont even have to go home to charge it. I think that will get some new ipod touch sales to those that aren't "techies" that download a bunch of songs from whatever site is popular now. And for those that aren't going to itunes to buy albums or singles. Now, the "soccer mom" who didnt have sirius xm pre installed can get an ipod touch and have satelite, and they can still put all their old favorite cds that they listen to at work or whenever they choose. They may need their kids to rip the cds's for them...

What you need-

wait, i can't see out of my windshield now.

Why attach something like this device or a GPS to your windshield? Thieves will break your window if they see a circular pattern on your windshield to look for something to steal, even if you take it into your home/office.

My iPod

If I want to listen to music, I will use my iPod. Start it and leave it while driving. In the past I have rented vehicles that have Sirius-XM for the radio. If I had not had a passenger to change the stations, I could / would not have used it because it is dangerous to be driving and changing the car stations and other controls.

If your going to listen to satilate radio make sure its the right thing, and not some app created by a little 15 year old

and changing the AC/heater, talking on a cell phone, texting, selecting a number/ccontact on the phone, talking to people in the car rolling down your window, and many, many others arn;t?

and I take it your you have an ipod adapter?

Most people who I know, don't change stations like crazy. (like you seem to think) They find one they like and leave it well enough alone. Hell, some cars even have the basic controls for the radio right on the stelling whell.

Who pays for radio? I've never heard of anyone doing that. Complete waste of money when the whole country is covered by FM and the majority (even the rural areas) get the 30+ DAB channels.

Seriously, that guy is on vacation so much it makes me sick. Plus only Monday thru Thursday!

I've got to assume that most people, if given the opportunity, would take as much vacation time as possible and work 4 days a week. I can't blame the guy because I know that if I was in a position that people were paying me more money to do less work I would take it.

I think there's about 20 million people in the US that do... compared to about 14 million subscribers to Time Warner basic cable. Sure that's only one cable company, but it's also much different than your claim. On top of that, remember when TV was free and then they had this crazy thing called cable tv which was still TV but just a little bit better but you had to pay for it! That's crazy!
If you put aside exclusive things like MLB/NHL/NFL play-by-play which you're not going to get on FM radio, or Howard Stern which you're not going to get on FM radio of HD radio, or Opie/Anthony which you'll only get a portion of on FM then we can start a rational discussion... because if you include those factors into the argument then the idea of it being a waste of money when you can get the same on FM radio is completely wrong.
What it comes down to is preferences. Again, excluding the exclusives, I prefer to pay 13$/month for better quality, more selection (and I'm not talking across all genres, I'm saying that for me there are 4 FM stations I would listen to, 3 all owned by the same company playing the same playlists and one classic rock station whereas there are about 7 Sirius channels with little to no overlap in playlists of rock-ish music that I can choose from), and best of all, no commercials.
If that doesn't seem worth it to you, that's fine you don' have to get it... but to not be able to understand that it isn't the same as FM radio and to no be able to grasp the fairly obvious reasons why someone would consider it to be worthwhile is very odd.

Either you are in Junior High School, live in a trailer park, or are just an idiot! Over 18 million people have "pay" radio. If you don't know anyone that has satelite radio, you must be a kid or you just have a lot of broke a$$ friends, family and neigbors..I hope you are a kid...I teach and none of my 6th graders heard of satelite radio ...they thought their ipod shuffles were the hottest thing in the world. They laughed at my xmp3 which costs more than twice as much and had 10 times the capabilities...lol...you keep listening to FM and AM in your little box you must live in. You don't even have an idea what sirius xm is, to compare to FM you are obviously ignorant to what SIRIUS XM offers. You can say it cost too much, but to say why have it because of FM is just dumb...

Oh! And condescending, too.

right on the stelling whell. ?

Nice invention. What is it really?

Ever been on a trip more than 50 miles? And I don't mean in a circle. Stations come and go, then the radio needs to be re-tuned to a station that will come in clearly. Setting my iPod to my playlist allows me to drive without worrying about tuning a radio.

As for everything else you mentioned, I don't need to take my eyes off the road to make those changes.

Cellphone? Don't be an idiot! Hands free is fine.

Whose car did you take a photo of ... or maybe I should have said which car ad did you use?

Maybe in the UK, but that's not the case in the US. Don't talk about things you don't know about.

I did some research, and out of 40 million ipone/ipod touch users. The ratio is close to 3:1 ipod touch. So, there are about 30 million Ipod touch users and 10 million iphone users. The significance of that is that the "pandora is a win, XM loses" is not valid. Ipod touch users have no audio options in their car , besides their playlists ,other than SIRIUS XM. Pandora or any other internet radio is not an option for Ipod touch users in their car. There are 3 times as many ipod touch users than iphone users. People seem to forget that the primary use of ipod was for audio entertainment, it still is. They integrated into a phone for people that wanted to be "cool" Not everyone that wants an ipod goes to AT&T and gets an overpriced, rip off iphone. Well, i think the data charges, text message charges are a total rape of customers who love APPLE. Now, the majority who have ipod touch can have nation wide music, sports, all types of unregulated unfiltered talk and comedy for $12.95 or less, compared to all these iphone people who pay $30.00 just for data to get these "free" pandora services that get cut when a call comes in. $12.95 is less than half of your data plan. Doesnt apple charge extra for a text message plan also? That is why iphone users keep talking about price, if i were getting raped by AT&T, I wouldnt spend any more money either.
So, if you have an iphone and AT&T and APPLE is taking all your money by charging more than any other phone does. Stop complaining about the price of the dock or service of SIRIUS XM..Complain to AT&T about their iphone service prices!..oh...i forget that apple/mac people enjoy being raped by APPLE as long as the cute apple logo is on it:eek: compare the service plan on an iphone to any other phone including blackbery and see if you don't get ripped off. But, your phone looks cool. Smart people got an affordable phone with unlimited data and unlimited text for probably half the price on a different phone and use the phone for talking and email, text, etc.., then they can get their ipod touch and get satelite radio and still be paying less or the same with a lot more functionality. lol...can you make a phone call while listening to Pandora or these other free only music services? If you have passengers, they have to wait until you finished talking to hear music? wtf? At& T have any 3g deadspots on the highway? This product will be a huge opportunity for SIRIUS XM, for the holidays. The MSRP is meaningless...When BLACK FRIDAY comes and when they put marketing behind it, the dock may be half the price it is now...or come with 3-6 month free service...Trust me, they want a HUGE boost in subscribers for the 4th quarter going into 2010. Many Iphone users are just APPLE zombies that waste their money on iphones and cant wait for the lates iphone to come out so they can be overcharged for service. Then anything not APPLE is garbage in their minds and anything apple makes is gold! Thankfully, most people get the ipod touch and tell AT&T no thanks, I don't want to be ripped off with your phone that I obviously can't afford cause after i get it I cant even pay for a $.99 app. I have to illegally download all my songs...etc...

Just plain rude.

Oh! And condescending, too.

Ok, but you have to admit it is the truth. I bet you I am right and this guy is a teenager. Who can say they never heard of satelite radio or anyone paying for it? Eveyone has at least heard of HOWARD STERN...

DAB is free, why pay for any more than it offers?
