I would like an iPhone Ultra that has all of this and Made in USA. 2.5x the price, and I would happily pay it. Bring high-tech manufacturing jobs back and a certain subset of the population would pay for it.

Just get rid of the notch/island situation. I just want a hole punch for a camera or better yet remove the front camera and put a small display on the back for FaceTime calls.

I can't wait for January 2024 when MacRumors will start talking about iPhone 19 rumors. Gotta keep things fresh and exciting. 😜

Screen on the back? Yuck. I always lay my phone face-down because I don't like the screen distracting me with whatever.

How about an iPhone Ultra that has the durability of an Apple Watch Ultra, including the waterproof rating and a raised bezel around the screen to protect it.

But i don't want a bigger phone.

Hear hear!

I'm still not used to the size of my 13 Pro. It's on the edge of being too big.

Absence of pro-motion is why I didn’t buy a new iPhone this year.

I really don’t understand why they are being so stubborn about this.

Given that these are all speculation, I am still wondering whether I should upgrade to the 16 Pro Max or wait another year for the 17 Pro Max. I currently own the 13 Pro Max.

Same and I feel no need to upgrade, Lightning port and all. I’ll probably hold out another three years.

"expect the entire iPhone 17 lineup to use a taller aspect ratio of 19.6:9, suggesting the devices will be slightly taller, rather than wider."

Why why why? Our pockets can accommodate wider, but they cannot accommodate taller!

That’s what she said. Seriously though, Steve was almost too stubborn about the size because he was right to want it to be usable one-handed. That one hand was his left hand of course but still better than these “mega phones” I can’t reach the entirety of even with “Reachability”

As a result, expect the entire iPhone 17 lineup to use a taller aspect ratio of 19.6:9, suggesting the devices will be slightly taller, rather than wider.

6 months on, this still doesn't make any sense. Either the bezel size has been significantly reduced to something unseen in other smartphones, ( 0.5mm on each side, or roughly 1.25mm ) or the 19.6:9 Ratio will make the phone wider at that diagonal display size.

Assuming all of this comes to pass, the only item that would be useful to me would be the WiFi 7 chip. I can skip the rest. Looks like my next iPhone may be an SE.
Next years iPhone 16 Pro is already getting WiFi 7. The 17 Pro will just be the first with an Apple made chip.

iPhone 17: Five Features Apple Plans to Save for 2025
Apple's in-house 5G modem didn't make the list. I guess MacRumors doesn't think Apple can get one out by then that can rival a Qualcomm modem.

The Cupertino company initially wanted to have an in-house modem chip ready to go by 2024, a goal that could not be met, and now Gurman says that Apple is also going to miss an extended spring 2025 launch timeline. As of now, the modem chip launch has been postponed until the end of 2025 or early 2026, and Apple is still planning to introduce the technology in a version of the low-cost iPhone SE.

I am more interested in seeing the Apple iPhone support the Apple Pencil.
