Forget Slickwraps, unless you don't mind getting zero response and waiting forever for your order to "process". I ordered from Sopiguard, and received the skin in less than a week. Their skins cover front, back, inside above the keyboard, to either side of the trackpad, and the trackpad itself if you want (I elected not to do so as I think it would take away from the tactility of the device).

Thank you for sharing! I’ve never heard of Sopiguard. I really like their color shifting ones, just placed an order!

There are two threads for MK skins, so I’ll post this here too.

I’m surprisingly happy with how the SopiGuard turned out. It was relatively easy to apply and didn’t really feel like the blow dryer made much of a difference. I wasn’t planning to install the pieces above and below the keyboard itself, but decided to go ahead and just remove them later if I don’t like them. They actually don’t look as tacky as I thought they would - maybe you guys feel differently? I do feel like the skin on the trackpad has slightly reduced its sensitivity, especially the tap to click function, so I may be removing that soon.

Do you feel like the Sopiguard will be difficult to remove? I worry about it pulling on the fabric of the MK and causing bubbling on removal, especially with using a blow dryer to seal it on there.

I don’t think so, as it’s not as thick as a Dbrand skin, but that said, I’ve never had an Apple keyboard with this material before, so I can’t really say for sure.

I just ordered a Sopiguard as well. Looking forward to having a skin on that keyboard. Gonna make it look SO much better. That rubbery feel just sucks. Takes a prime keyboard and makes it feel and look cheap, IMO.

Those Sopiguards look really good! I might go ahead and order one too. The Magic Keyboard literally gets smudges while you are not even touching it.

I disputed my Slickwraps charge with Chase and ordered from Sopiguard. Was sent out late last night. Can’t wait to see!

Do NOT order from Slickwraps!

To anyone who has applied the sopiguard skin but later removed it ie-(palm rest area) did you notice any residue left behind?

I haven't removed any part of my skin, but when I peeled it back to get at a stubborn bubble that would not leave and was offending my OCD, I did not see any residue on the material of the keyboard itself, and I noticed no pulling up of it either. However, I was very slow and deliberate, pulling at it with a steady pressure, and a small amount at a time. Just be careful, and it should be fine.

How long did you wait for Slickwraps before you disputed your charge?

Ordered on April 30. Decided to cancel on May 3. No response. Emailed again to cancel on May 8. No response.

Disputed with Chase on May 10 and they will investigate and they refunded the money. Ordered from Sopiguard that same day and they shipped the next day.

What a difference.

Good to know, i suppose for posterity’s sake I should probably email slickwraps and wait for them to ignore me, just so i can say that i tried to cancel the order and didn’t get anywhere. Their website still shows the order as “processing” 🙄

The prt that worries me most, as an ASK owner, is the palm rests - because they will be under constant contact and I expect they will become slick, wrinkled and torn very quickly.
I created a perfect skin template for mine and used my Cricut to cut out skin for the magic keyboard and palm rest! It looks great and protects great!

I got my Sopiguard today and I LOVE IT. Makes the case look much more professional, IMO. HOWEVER, it is now slippery. If I put it on an arm of a couch, it will slide off. The rubbery feel of the case is now gone on the outside.

The skin also came with some pieces for around the keyboard and to cover the trackpad, but I didn't put those on yet. Not sure I want those on. Maybe the pieces for the "hand rests" and under the iPad on the back of the keyboard...definitely not on the trackpad.

Anyway...I'm pleased and love the look!

Looks great. Is that the brushed black? If so, I just received the same one in the mail this afternoon. Planning on installing it this evening. Any tips for an easy install? Did you need a hair dryer or any type of heating element? I’m a bit worried about the slipperiness you mentioned. Is it “that” bad and does it cause the MK and iPad to slip while you’re using it on your lap?

I have not experienced it slipping off my lap...yet. I’ve been careful to make sure that doesn’t happen. It is definitely more slippery, but not so much that I’m going to take it off. I love the look...so much better. I did not need any hair dryer. It’s all flat surfaces, so no issues. EASY install. 😀

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!

Yes, was thinking about this also. With the vinyl covering bubbling up so easily, removing these seems risky.
