To the OP it could be worse. At The Photography Show this week I saw a guy drop his 300mm Nikon lens at the urinals. It bounced across the (rather dirty) floor. I would have been horrified if it was mine.
To be honest I couldn't quite work out why people had their cameras around their necks (no lens cover) whilst using the urinal. Yuk!

Another viable question is: "Why would you need a telephoto lens in a washroom?"

You know AFB, it's because of people like you & me that this thread has gone on for three pages and hasn't died a natural death. :) :(

That's what you were talking about? I thought it was the mark on the lens mount.

How else would you aim the lens at the mark to take a picture of it? :D

all in all im just happy my second camera that i exchanged it with one with no marks.

if i had to be picky, i black glossy plastic shutter button that canon uses scratches so easily, but thats pretty much inevitable for anyone who actually enjoy and use the camera. i remember my nikon d5200 had a chrome button and their higher end models have a nice matte finished buttons. not sure why canon cheaped out on a shutter button lol

spec wise is the 7D better then the 70D?

They're fairly similar. The 70D will be better for video but the 7D is a bit more resilient - metal body instead of plastic, and no flip-out screen. 7D is slightly bigger and heavier.

RETURN it ! It will bother you every time you look at it! PERIOD! Get one that is PERFECT! You paid good $$ and it should be 100% Perfect in every way!

Do you have any DUST in your view finder ? Take the lens off look up at the sky and see if there any dust specs in the VF ??????? Just curious..

the white is jsut a reflection, its a worn mark from manufacturing or abuse or something. no it doesnt fffect anything but i stil spent 1500 on a new camera an expect it to be flawless all the way around.

whihc i finally got.

I'm obviously looking at the wrong thing then, would you mind pointing it out as I can't see it? The most important thing is you're happy with it though. I take products back if they're blemished, even if I think I'll blemish it more in my ownership. If you pay good money for things you expect it to be perfect.

already exchanged it ad got one thats perfect. even found a better deal, the 70D plus an canon kit that included a canon bag, an extra canon batttery and neck strap.

Whenever problems threaten to spoil my day, this thread is oddly reassuring...

its right the letter A you can see a glossy blemish. and i did, got a nice new canon wtihout any marks.

OP - 2 suggestions:
1) you need to post some pictures in this thread
2) you need to edit your 1st post - adding "resolved" to thread title and stating on date x/x/xx you exchanged for a new one

that will bring closure and end all the "fun" here ... till the next thread pops up.

Hey - it's been a long winter here in USA, so this thread is a welcome relief from 3 months straight of snow ....

If these details really bother you, you might want to consider moving to Leica as your platform. All metal German construction. None of that crappy plastic that will scratch over time.

As an added bonus, Leicas can also be used to take pictures!

Did you get the above deal for $1459 Cdn at Future Shop / BestBuy? That's only $60 more than the best price during Boxing Day week. I dithered about it back then and the deal went away, so this time I wasted no time in ordering. That price was a one day deal, yesterday, but it's still on for $1499 today.
