Did not know this. Thanks for the suggestion. Won’t help me since my devices have plenty of space but it will help my mom and others who have 64GB models.
I still recommend using iCloud for photos, even if you have the space. It syncs across devices, and is an automatic backup. It will only optimize photos if it needs to. You can also select not to optimize photos. Families can also share an iCloud plan (which does not mean sharing photos). I suggest look into it. Some people just don't like the idea of cloud storage, but there are many side benefits, and the world is going that way. For example, you can log in from any computer and see your photos

32 and 64GB cards may be perfectly fine for a standalone camera/Camcorder but it’s not enough anymore for iPhones and iPad users that wish to shoot media. Sure some can get away with this low of disk space but not many. My iPhone 12 has 128GB and my iPad 256GB. APPLE no longer produces iPhones with 64GB if anyone has not noticed. So if you are using a device with 32 or 64GB it’s time for the bad news that you need to upgrade.
People will upgrade when they can afford too. Based on the poll I made its every 2 years for MacRumors users. In the outside world its 3 years or longer

Use case differs from person to person as the amount of video and photos varies.

From 2007-2019 I'd be perfectly fine with 32GB storage but the base storage of the 2019 iPhone 11 Pro Max is 64GB.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max starts with 128GB so I have no choice but to accept that.

When I get my 2023 or 2025 iPhone I expect it to have 256GB.

But how?? I ask something I do not know. How can you view all that media on a 32GB device? What if you are on a plane away from the internet?
yeah
how can anyones film the passengers roughing up the flight attendants
and posting that on the Metafacebooks with only 32GB!?!?!?

couple references to Denver here
on a autumn Sunday
Yep, the Broncos are losing!

People upgrade to new devices for all sorts of reasons but typically when a need arises, not when apple stops selling a particular storage tier.

If you are running a recent version of iPadOS, you should be able to copy files to and from a flash drive using the lightning adapter.
However, generally you cannot work on files unless they are in the iPad.
This may vary from app to app and iPad to iPad. I suggest try it out.

I do not recommend storing files on flash drives or SD cards for long term, at least not without a resilient backup in some other form. Flash drives and SD cards are notoriously unreliable. I have had many corruptions and failures. You need to assume it will fail.

Monterey now has a iCloud desktop something were that overtakes the file folder one, like Mojave has.

that is why the WD 128 GB flash drives goes into the Dell or MBair and then the date into a WD HD
the comics are intently saved were a solar flare might ruin the digital copies
and digital world

thanks for the tip!

Actually print books are still alive and kicking. Perhaps most would rather have a actual book over a ebook.

So is shooting film and listening to vinyl records, but that doesn’t mean that more than a minority of users actually have that media anymore.

If you sync Desktop and Documents folders to iCloud, the Desktop (and Documents) will be listed under iCloud in the Finder sidebar, instead of under Favorites, like this:

At least, I think that is what is meant. Differing languages may be a factor.

Comparing print books to film and vinyl records is quite a leap.

It’s not a comparison but simply other examples of things that most people do not purchase on a regular basis anymore.

Cameras are digital, pictures are viewed mostly on smartphones and records are streamed - the above products are rarities compared to these market trends.

The last time I was in Walmart, it wouldn't surprise me if I'd found more vinyl records for sale than books...

Of course film is a different story. When I first got into photography in the mid-2000s and only used film, I bought a whole, whole lot at Wal-Mart. As long as I didn't want slide film, the selection was actually decent-the full range of consumer Kodak and Fuji, along with Polaroid branded film that I'm pretty sure was rebranded Agfa. They also sometimes carried Tri-X. They even strayed into the Portra range a little bit with BW400CN, a Chromogenic B&W film and Kodak 400UC, the high saturation version of the boring Portra 400NC and slightly less boring 400VC.

I read the OP and read the rest of the thread and I still have no idea what you're asking. What are you asking? Or was your OP just a statement? Because yes, 32 and 64 are quite small for this day and age, especially with the increasing size of pictures, videos, and apps.

Do you think people buy books at Walmart? No way. Many buy them online.
