Looks interesting, especially for the Apple Watch. Too bad there's no free version to test it and it's a shame the app isn't available in the Dutch language, perhaps any plans for this ?

I agree that a trial version would be very helpful for new customers and I'm currently looking into ways to make this possible. I've answered your other question in the Apple Watch thread.

please add WEBdav sync!
thank you.

Integrations with third-party cloud services (or other services via WebDAV) are on my road map, but not for the near future. That's because SnipNotes does currently only support Apple platforms, where iCloud synchronization is sufficient and most convenient for the majority of users. Also, most other cloud services would require a different synchronization technology, because they use a file system instead of a database.

while i understand this, icloud sync is for some absolutely no option.

is there any workaround possible? like importing/ exporting to WEBdav via share sheet? and not just one note, but many at the same time?

Yes, the next update (available in just a few days) will allow you to export notes as text files via the share sheet. You should see a lot more apps appearing in the share sheet, e.g. file managers. This feature will also work with multiple notes, which get exported as individual files.

Imports can also be performed via the share sheet. The availability of this feature depends on the type of content that the source app provides. SnipNotes currently accepts text, URLs, and images.

Please give the export feature a try as soon as it becomes available and let me know what you think. This is just a first step and I want to continuously expand the capabilities of SnipNotes in this area.

Two new updates have arrived for both iOS and macOS. These updates improve stability, fix a lot of issues and add the following new features:

iOS
  • Notes now save automatically as you type. The disk icon has been replaced with a checkmark, which ends the current edit and re-enables content detection. Tapping this button is optional, you can also return to the list of notes right away
  • You can now protect individual categories with a passcode. There is a new section in settings that lets you switch between the old global protection at launch and the new mode
  • There is a second new setting that lets you configure the launch view of the app. In addition to returning to the last category, you can now always begin in the inbox or open the category picker right away
  • The share dialog supports a lot of new apps, including file managers. This way you can, for example, select multiple notes and export them as text files to a cloud storage of your choice
macOS
  • The share sheet now works with multiple notes too. Sharing will now also generate a text file, so you can send notes as email attachments for example
  • You can print your text and image notes or save them as PDF files
  • SnipNotes for macOS now supports an URL scheme. Please take a look at snipnotes.de/url-scheme for further information
  • There is new section in settings which allows you to reset the iCloud synchronization

You can download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store and SnipNotes for macOS on the Mac App Store.

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to answer to this thread.

I'm happy to introduce the SnipNotes Productivity Update for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch! This update is all about making your work with SnipNotes more efficient and enjoyable.

teaser.jpg

Enhanced search: SnipNotes will now highlight search results both in the list of notes and inside notes. In addition, the search feature is now available on Apple Watch too.

Siri for SnipNotes (iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch): You can now control SnipNotes with Siri on your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch! This allows you to create new notes on the go with your voice, add text to existing notes and search for notes.

Drag and Drop: Text and images can now be imported and exported with Drag and Drop on iPad and Mac. Drag and Drop can also be used within SnipNotes to move notes between categories or into the trash.

Safari Integration: You can use the share sheet in Safari to create a new note that contains a link to the current webpage. SnipNotes will now also save the website's title as well as any text you have selected beforehand.

This update also includes a number of smaller, but very useful improvements. These include:

iPhone and iPad

  • You can now edit notes by tapping directly into the text. No need to press the pencil button first anymore
  • Added a new section „Troubleshooting“ to the settings menu. From here you can reset the synchronization with iCloud and Apple Watch
Apple Watch

  • You can now configure which categories are synchronized with Apple Watch directly in the settings menu
  • The complication will now show the configured action with a little icon (dictate a new note, save location etc.)
Mac

  • You can click on images to open them in Preview
  • There are new settings available:
    • The number of notes in your inbox can be displayed on the dock icon
    • You can hide the main window on app launch. This is particularly useful in combination with the „Launch SnipNotes automatically on login“ functionality
    • Exporting notes as text files is now an option and disabled by default

Download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store and SnipNotes for macOS on the Mac App Store. Both apps are 30% off for a limited time!

You can learn more about the new features in this blog post. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to answer to this thread.

@FelixII Is there any way of editing the notes via web portal? Asking as my main machine is still a PC at the moment.

Currently not, unfortunately. I consider creating a web app, similar to Apple Notes on the iCloud website. But my current focus is on the existing platforms.

A big new update for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch is now available:

snipnotes-v29-teaser-en.jpg

  • The swipe gestures have been totally overhauled. You can now swipe both left and right on a note to access various actions. Actions integrate SnipNotes with many third-party apps like Bear, Drafts 5, Todoist and Ulysses. You can customize the swipe buttons in the settings menu
  • You can now change the icon of your notes! Over 50 new icons have been added, which you can use both for your notes and your categories
  • There is a new archive for your completed notes. Notes in the archive disappear from your main list but are still synchronized with iCloud
  • You gain more control over the order of your notes. While there is no manual sorting yet, you can now change the creation date and modification date of a note. In addition, notes will only get marked as modified when you change their contents or the title
  • Various note actions like delete, move, merge and archive will now display a status bar at the bottom of the screen, which you can tap to undo the action
  • Last but not least, there is now a tip jar in the settings menu. If you enjoy the app and want to support the future development of SnipNotes, I would appreciate a small tip. Thank you!

Download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store. You can try the app free of charge for 7 days!

Hi,

I'm finishing up a major new version of SnipNotes and am looking for new beta testers:

teaser_v30_beta.jpg

SnipNotes 3 adds support for iOS 13, iPadOS, watchOS 6 and macOS 10.15 Catalina. The update offers the following new features:
  • Text notes can now contain multiple images. Previously images could only be stored as separate notes. Images can be selected from the image picker, added with drag and drop or imported from the clipboard
  • The list of notes has been redesigned. You will see both the title and the first two lines of your notes. Notes with images will also display a thumbnail on the right side of the screen
  • SnipNotes adds supports for iOS 13 features like automatic dark mode and multiple windows on iPad
I'm looking for new beta testers to iron out the remaining bugs before the final release. If you're interested in giving SnipNotes a try, please click here to download the latest beta onto your device.

SnipNotes 3 will be available as a free update later this month. You can learn more about SnipNotes and the new features at https://www.snipnotes.de/preview/

Please feel free to ask any questions and provide feedback. Thanks a lot! :)

I would love to expand SnipNotes to other platforms, but don't have the time capacity at the moment. I'm considering a web application for easy access on other devices.

Hi,

I'm happy to introduce the next major version of my note-taking app SnipNotes:

snipnotes-3.jpg

SnipNotes is a clever notebook on all your devices. Capture new ideas with Siri and quickly add new content with Drag & Drop. Synchronize notes between your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. SnipNotes saves you time with its intelligent actions: Create new calendar events from within your notes, navigate to an address or call phone numbers. Stay organized with your own categories and flexible search functionality.

SnipNotes 3 is a major update with the following new features:
  • Text notes can now contain multiple images. Previously, images could only be stored as separate notes. Images can be selected from the image picker, added with drag and drop or imported from the clipboard
  • The list of notes has been redesigned. You will see both the title and the first few lines of your notes. Notes with images will also display a thumbnail on the right side of the screen

SnipNotes 3 also adds support for iOS 13, iPadOS, watchOS 6 and macOS Catalina. The following new features are available on iOS 13 and/or iPadOS:
  • You can open multiple windows on iPad and view your notes side-by-side
  • The dark mode has been improved. SnipNotes can automatically adapt to the light or dark appearance of your device
  • When you add an URL via the clipboard or the share sheet, SnipNotes will automatically fetch and save the title of the website

Download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store and SnipNotes for macOS on the Mac App Store.

You can learn more about the new features in this blog post. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to answer to this thread.

Hi,

one of the most frequently requested features in SnipNotes is the creation of checklists, e.g. for shopping. I am happy to release this feature today as a free update.

checkboxes-ios-en.png

Similar to bullet point lists, checkboxes can be inserted into any existing note. Place the cursor at the beginning of a line and use the corresponding symbol in the formatting bar to add a new checkbox. Alternatively, you can also select existing text and convert (several) lines into a checklist.

SnipNotes assists you with creating checklists. After each line break, a new checkbox is automatically added. Press Enter a second time to exit this logic.

You can create and edit checkboxes on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Checkboxes are also displayed on Apple Watch, but cannot be switched. This is a limitation of the watchOS technology that SnipNotes is currently using. I plan to rewrite the Watch app in an upcoming update to work around this limitation.

You can download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store and SnipNotes for macOS on the Mac App Store.

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reply to this thread.

Really like how you 'cleaned up' the UI. Looks fresher and less busy.
