Another feature request, for both mac and iOS: search everywhere. Sometimes I don't know which category the note I am looking for is. I'd love for an option to search within a category, or search everywhere.

Yes, this is a popular feature request. I have already scheduled it for one of the next updates. In the current version, you can search everywhere by opening the "All Notes" view.

Maybe I have missed seeing how to do the following.....
I would like to see A B C D etc so I can tap on the letter and it takes me to all notes that start with that letter. So if I have 400 notes I don't have to scroll all the way down to those notes that start with W for example.
Does that make sense?

Thanks for your suggestion! I believe you mean an index list like in the contacts app? That's an interesting idea, but I am not sure if it is possible in SnipNotes. As far as I know, these indices don't support the indented list style that SnipNotes is using. It would also cause issues with pinned notes, which always appear at the top of the list.

I plan to support subcategories in an upcoming update. That should facilitate the organization of large note collections.

iOS feature suggestion:

When viewing a note, if you tap and hold on the back arrow, you can quickly jump back to Category view (love this!). My suggestion is to enhance this. Right below this current Category view menu item, list the last 2 or 3 most recently viewed categories, to make it easier to jump to them as well.

A couple of feature requests...

Allow you to insert a table into a note would be a nice feature.

Also, would love the ability to be able to add a link to a PDF file in a note where the file is either on your device or saved in a cloud service such as Dropbox or OneDrive.

App is coming along nicely!

Hi,

thank you very much for your suggestions! :)

This is a built-in iOS feature, which lets you quickly jump to any point in the navigation stack. Apple does not provide an interface (yet) to customize this list, unfortunately.

I will add support for file attachments in one of the next major updates. Tables are a long-term goal on my roadmap.

Minor feature request, but would love a per widget option to choose to use dark mode, light mode, or auto (system).

Thanks for your suggestion! Would you like to control the appearance of the widgets or the main app with this setting?

Hi,

I'm happy to introduce one of the most frequently requested features for SnipNotes: You can now create reminders for your notes!

snipnotes-reminders-en.png

  • You can create multiple reminders for each note and repeat them automatically as needed. You can also enter a short notice, which will be visible in the notification.
  • SnipNotes will send you a push notification when a reminder is due. Long-press the notification to reveal reminder actions. From here you can open the associated note, complete the reminder or snooze it.
  • You can manage all your active reminders in settings. Here you can also configure how reminders should work on your device. For example, SnipNotes can show reminders on the app icon and automatically repeat them if you don’t interact with the notification.
  • Note reminders synchronize between your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. They are currently not available on the Mac.
You can download SnipNotes for iOS on the App Store and SnipNotes for macOS on the Mac App Store. The iOS app offers a 7-day free trial. There is no subscription required.

I'm happy to answer any questions or suggestions. Please feel free to reply to this thread.

Hi,

I’ve released a major new SnipNotes update for iOS 16 today. 😊

lock-screen-shortcuts-en.png

  • Lock Screen Widgets: You can pin notes onto your lock screen for instant access. A shortcuts widget is also available, which lets you quickly create a new note, dictate text, and more.
  • App Shortcuts: SnipNotes provides rich integration with the Shortcuts app. You can create or open notes and categories, append text to notes and search for notes. These actions can be automated and integrate with other apps.
  • Barcode and QR-Code Scanner: SnipNotes already allows you to add images and scanned documents to your notes. With this new update, you will also be able to scan barcodes & QR codes and save the contained text into your note.
  • Search Suggestions: The search field will show suggestions while you type. You can tap on a suggestion to open the note directly.
  • Find & Replace: In addition to the global search field, you can now also find and replace text within a single note.
I’ve collected a few more details and screenshots about this update in a new blog post.

The update is now available for download on the App Store. The new features require iOS 16 and are therefore currently only available on the iPhone. iPadOS 16 is expected to be released in October. SnipNotes will also continue to work on all devices with iOS 15.

As always, I'm happy to answer questions and provide feedback. Just post a message in this thread.
