I hope the Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow is updated soon to be compatible. My MacBook relies on Wi-Fi so if I suddenly needed to do something with that, I'd be out of luck right now. =/

(ironic that it has Snow in its name and yet isn't compatible... XP)

We are talking about Sierra Watcher

Installed now on my MacBook Air. The reports of the USB 881B not working with Snow Leopard are wrong. It works but you do have to reconfigure it. Install on the laptop went smooth no problems.

Now to play with it for a while and see what does and doesn't work...

Cynicalone,

Are we talking about Sierra Watcher 2.0.6, that's the app that works the USB 881B card? And by reconfigure, what are we talking about now?

No one has said anything about OpenOffice.org or NeoOffice. I would suppose those two open source office suites should be compatible with SL.

Nary a problem running 4.0

Mike from Parallels here,

Good news, I just wanted to let everyone know that Parallels 4 is working for the new OS X Snow Leopard.

If you want to know more head over to our blog post on the subject.

http://bit.ly/5B7PI

Thanks

In fact, it ran better than it did in 10.5.6. Copying a VMM is tricky business and problems that didn't exist b/f may be the result of minor changes/corruption in/of VM files. I try to clone VMs to whatever external drive I'm going to run them from. Also, be sure that your permissions are set appropriately.

Hey, Mike... when will we see 64-bit Parallels (not 64-bit compatible or 32-bit able to run in 64-bit kernel mode -- I'm talking about a 64-bbit app)?

You're complaining about Xmarks? I just had a look then at what it was, I thought you were referring to something that was of great strategic importance but in reality it is pointless hackware crap that adds nothing productive to the computer. its almost as bad as the last person on here whining because this dinky little widget that moved the cursor to a button was no longer working.

I swear sometimes as if there were legions of people who are up till the early hours of the morning searching the internet for more crap to install on their Mac.

Thanks for the helpful response. Sounds like you're just kind of sore that Apple botched the NZ release of Snow Leopard and you haven't been able to realize that some of the software you use might not have been kept up to date with the new OS. I'm not blaming Apple; I'm blaming the developers.

Also, I wouldn't call Xmarks hackware; it simply takes info on the computer, uploads it to a server, and from there it keeps all computers synced up with bookmarks. It works really great for those of us who use both Safari and Firefox on multiple machines.

Again, though, thanks for the helpful and constructive response.

I'm uneffected because I ordered it online rather than going into a store as the person over at ( http://www.tuaw.com/2009/08/29/failure-to-launch-apple-bungles-snow-leopard-distribution-in-ne ) tried to do.

I replied in such a tone because I've seen people on here for the last 3 days whine about software not working from vendors who should be supporting their own software instead of expecting Apple to bend over to accommodate badly written code.

The vendor of XMarks isn't going to fess up because they hope through their silence their customers will complain to Apple instead of accepting that they'll have to come up with a new array of products to generate cash instead of milking the same crap over and over again.

Has Apple changed the list of incompatible products? Neither Aperture nor iWork 08 is on the list anymore. Does that mean they ARE compatible?

I have Aperture 1.x academic so there's no upgrade path except purchase of Aperture 2. It works just fine so I'm not really interested in doing that if I can avoid it.

AT&T USB 881 compatibility

I received an email from SierraWireless, promptly I might add, that Sierra Wireless 2.0.6, the driver for the 881 aircard, is not compatible with SL (10.6.0). It pointed me to Build 2160 which is the update that will allow you to use the 881 with SL. It was a ~5 mB down load. BTW, it is still compatible with 10.5.8. Build 2160 is free of charge to registered users.
:D

Cyberduck too

IDK if anyone mentioned this earlier but the ftp client Cyberduck is also incompatible with SL, however fugu still works.

More Crashing Apps in Snow Leopard

For me this is the WORST update ever. Few programs run better, most run worse.

1. Firefox 3.0.6 crashes constantly. Up to 5 times in a row.
2. Quicktime Player fails to recognize WMV if I click on video.
3. Video Monkey doesn't work
4. Leopard Cache Cleaner fails.

There are countless others but this is way beyond frustrating. Forcing me to go back to Safari.

Um, isn't this just premature upgraditis? (that is, Qucktime/WMV depends on a codec which is system dependent...and expecting something called Leopard Cache Cleaner to work under Snow Leopard may be asking for a bit too much...)

?

I was wondering if these applications work on Snow Leopard:

Microsoft Word for Mac 2008 version 12.2.0
You Control Tunes version 1.7.2 (3694)
Tweetie version 1.2.2 (1.2.2)

:apple: Thx! :apple:

I use Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2008 12.2.0 and 12.2.1 and they're all happy campers. I expect Entourage and Messenger work, as well.

Yeah, I just replaced my last Snow AirPort base station as being 'primary' about a month ago. Good thing. I still use it to share my 'public' WiFi network. Good thing I have a PPC around that can still run it.

Progress is good. But what did they possibly do to break that utility? I know multiple people with only an Intel Mac; but with an old Snow base station. I will have to advise them not to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
