Earned the first battle scar this morning, phone fell onto my work keyboard screen down, a little nick to the left of the home screen. It is visible in the light. As far as the finish, no worries here. I will happily buy another Jet Black iPhone.

Time to replace it with a iphone 7 RED!

No case since day one and never dropped. I honestly don't mind the 'micro-abrasions' that Apple warned us about. It's only when i put my iPhone under direct light that i was even able to capture the phenomena on camera. People should use their iPhone in the best method that they feel comfortable with, and for me, that means caseless for life!

Mine looks like this when clean, and I agree. I don't mind the micro scratches. What drives me insane, though, are the fingerprints.

Mine is holding up good. I keep it in a red leather apple case. I think jet black is the best colorway

I'm surprised how good my phone looks with me as the owner

I use a case, but only because of the rear camera protrusio, I am afraid it will get scared up from seing it down on the desk or table

To be honest, the jet black color option works fairly better than expected. Of course it takes op a lot of minor scratches and fingerprints as well, but it seems like it is not worse that this, and despite not looking in the bright sun the mini-scratches are not notable.
It reminds me a lot of the iPhone 3GS at the time. Holds up the same.

I've used a naked slickwrap and other than corner peel requiring replacement after a few months it's invisible and has actually saved it both from daily scratches and at least 5 major drops.

Any place but here or there....
My 7+ is holding up quite well. Apparently no damage from the tumble onto the work keyboard. :)

Whatever the smallest iPhone will be going forward, if they continue to make it in Jet Black I will buy.

Mine honestly has been as good as any other iPhone finish I've ever had. I use my careless most of the time and it still looks pristine except in very good light. Up close in good light there are plenty of "micro abrasions" but they are no worse than what I would expect after months without a case (usually).

I've had one since right after launch (swapped another color that I got on launch day for the JB) and I use a minimal case. I still don't have any real damage to it, even though the bottom is almost entirely exposed (Apple Leather case). It holds up just fine. If you're super rough on stuff, I guess you might have problems, but most people won't.

I am glad you mentioned the bottom of your device. I have toyed with buying an  case for mine since release lol but never pulled the trigger due to me worrying on how the bottom of my phone would hold up with being in my pocket and such. Figure with the new iPhone so close, there's no point in purchasing one now lol.

old thread, but this is my jb+ after a little over a year.

dropped it on its side on a glass table (beside bed), but that’s all, the back is really smudgey because i never wiped the back on anything like pants or a shirt

i think it looks great. i took the photos with the X, i might miss this phone a little, i really liked it

Put it this way, when giving back my jet black 7 Plus to apple and getting the new X (IUP) the apple employee said its the best condition jet black phone he had seen all day - my appointment was one of the last of the day.

I used it naked for roughly the last 5 months of its life.

My jet black was showing a lot of scratches on the back, a minor scratch on the front, and is smudged with fingerprints, but it still is my black beauty.

Im skipping this upgrade cycle and I still really like my jb 7+. Only problem is I have this one pair of athletic pants with weird pockets and it slipped out while I was kneeling down helping with my son’s fall festival a few weeks ago. It landed face down on pavement and I even stepped on it before I realized what had happened adding insult to injury. There are deep scratches on the screen (no crack at least). The back is protected by a skin and looks great. I can’t justify the price to replace the screen since it’s not hindering use in any way but man I hate looking at those scratches.
