No case since day one and never dropped. I honestly don't mind the 'micro-abrasions' that Apple warned us about. It's only when i put my iPhone under direct light that i was even able to capture the phenomena on camera. People should use their iPhone in the best method that they feel comfortable with, and for me, that means caseless for life!

The red case on that site is exactly what I am looking for! Does anyone know of a place I can order that in the US?

I've ordered same case off eBay. I really liked that red too; but when it arrived it was too light of a red for me. Not sure if I have pics... let me see. Has the same design port cover etc. I actually REALLY the case in the black and dark blue.

Not bad at all, it still looks amazing to my eyes.

However, there is one thing I can't stand about the Jet Black (and is the reason I keep mine in a case) it's the nasty fingerprints all over the back after a minute of use. :(

Man the jet black is growing on me, but I don't want it to keep scratching when I take it off the case... I might exchange mine in for the Matte Black honestly bois... but I think resale value will be higher on Jet Black if I manage to keep it scratch free or minimal scratches.

Unless you carry it around without a case all the time, you should be fine. I keep mine in a case (absolutely recommend the Apple cases for this one, silicone and leather work well) because they are minimal and I've only covered it to avoid too many scratches and dealing with smudges, really.

The few microabrasions you'll get from occasional removal from a case or carrying minus a case now and then won't bother someone getting a sweet deal on resale.

Looks fine to me. They aren't supposed to look brand new after months of use. If people want to keep them new as possible for resale, a thin case is fine. Mine has been in an Apple Silicone or Apple Leather the entire time and it's damned near flawless. One tiny scratch on the back you can only see at JUST the right angle. Yeah... not gonna stop a buyer who wants one of these without paying top dollar. :)

Originally looked at the Red 7 plus but got the feeling I'd hate it after a few weeks so went with the jet black after much deliberation.

Went with the upgrade program so plan to go caseless and not worry about nursing the phone. After 2 days I've been happy apart from the smudges but a quick wipe it's as good as new.

If it starts looking tatty I'll put a skin on it and upgrade in 11 months.

Any place but here or there....
I baby my iPhones (when I trade in, the recipients are always stunned at how great they look); I keep this in a clear case and just wipe down the front with a microfiber cloth.

The JB 7+ feels somewhat slippery, but after 6 days it's fine. I am aware of the cosmetic wear this model will show, but I am not being anal about it. It's just a phone. As long as it does what I want it to do, that's all I ask.

I have all kinds of scratches on my JB iPhone, but especially the ones on the screen are bad (I can feel some of them). Granted, I bought the phone second hand with those scratches already on it, I wish I had taken a closer look at that screen (it had a glass screen protector which concealed the scratching).

Anyway, love the design and because it already had scratches when I bought it I can use it case less without breaking a sweat. It still looks and feels good, I like it better than the normal (slippery) aluminium casing.

I don't know what the big fuss is about, I just put a simple clear skin on the back and left the front glass alone.

It looks good and when it comes time to get the 8 and sell my 7+ JB, I'll have an advantage + possible higher price for the condition its in.

Managed to take pics, but not all micro-abrasions show through the lens of the iPad Air 2...

Some big scratches next to the home button, not that visible in this picture...

Looks pretty bad in person, but add a few fingerprints and it's all messed up anyway.

I don't even have a case on my white 3GS anymore. I use it in my car as an XM radio using the XM Skydock app. I downgraded to 4.1 because that was the OS version that was out when the app was released. I had 6.1.3 on the phone but the app kept crashing. It was jailbroken also at the time.

glad i went with regular black. I go caseless(have been since iPhone 4) and i resell my phones. I wonder how much less these will be going for just one year later for resell. My matte black is flawless still.

I've had mine since launch. It's finally in an Apple silicone case. I don't mind the small scratches, but the fingerprint smudges were starting to get to me. Still, it's a beautiful phone.

The deal with the jet black is that the back is alot like the screen with regards to scratches. You won't notice them in regular use or by just looking at it, but if you clean and polish it and look at it at an angle with the light hitting just right you'll see a ton.

I have a screen protector on the front and a clear screen on the back and love it. Looks great. When the iPhone 8 comes out I'll hand it down to one of my children.

I would say, from my own experience, that the jet black finish is much more prone to scratches than the screen.

More prone to scratches yes, but, like the screen, most scratches aren't visible unless looking at it at an angle while flashing a light at it.

You can't see the scratches in these first 2 pics, but if I turn the flash on, like I do in the 3rd pic, then my God there's a crap ton.

No scratches

Yeah that's true. Have you been using yours without a case since day one ? Because it doesn't look too bad I might say.

Mine has been case-less since day 1 and is still looking great.

Yes, there are "micro-abrasions" but honestly I can hardly see them even when I try very hard and I'm not able to photograph them without considerable effort. The only way I've found to photograph things like this is if you use manual focus because otherwise the camera focuses on the reflection in the glossy enclosure or screen rather then on the abrasions.

I've even dropped my phone once (a very, very rare occurrence for me) onto the road in a parking lot from chest height when I bumped my arm on my car door in just the right (wrong) place to cause me to lose my grip. It was sort of an involuntary reflex action cause by the impact on my arm a bit like when you tap under the knee cap to cause a reflex action. Anyway, the phone fell from my hand and hit the ground then skidded for maybe half a metre. Obviously I feared the worst but when I picked it up I was amazed to find almost no damage at all. I realise you may be thinking my definition of "damage" must be different to yours but I really am very pernickety and I doubt that anyone would believe from seeing my phone that it had been dropped on the road. I should add that I have AppleCare+ and have not felt the need to claim against it yet.

So, I for one am delighted in how the Jet Black finish has held up over the last 7/8 months and will have no hesitation to by another glossy finish phone in future.

Earned the first battle scar this morning, phone fell onto my work keyboard screen down, a little nick to the left of the home screen. It is visible in the light. As far as the finish, no worries here. I will happily buy another Jet Black iPhone.
