I feel bad for Samsung that they have to focus so much of their advertisements on Apple. It's odd.

Did you say the same thing about the "I'm Mac, I'm a PC" ad campaign that Apple used a few years ago?

Indeed I did.

However, I don't know if it's just me but I find all of Samsung's advertisements seem so bitter towards Apple. At least those "I'm a Mac" ads were kind of funny and more "jokey" than anything. Regardless, I wasn't a fan of them beyond the humour.

Touchwiz adds lots of good features in the S3 actually. I would question if you've actually used it when you make a statement like that.

Touchwiz adds the "smart" features: -

Smart stay (screen stays on while you're looking at it)
Smart alert (phone vibrates when you pick it up and it has notifications)
Smart call (lift the phone to your ear when viewing a contact or message to call that person)

It works with Samsung Dive, a service which lets you locate your lost phone, remote lock/wipe it, flash a message on the screen, play an audible alert, etc.

You can use voice commands to control certain apps, for example "snooze" and "stop" when the alarm is going off, "answer" and "reject" when the phone is ringing, "shoot," / "cheese" and "smile" in the camera. "smile" takes a photo when the subject smiles. Then there's "play," "stop," "pause," "next" etc in the music player and fm radio apps (which the iPhone incidentally doesn't have ;)).

The learning curve with Android is most definitely a little more difficult than iOS, but for all the customisation and power Android gives its worth it imo. Some people would disagree, you're probably one of them. Once you actually learn how to use Android it becomes easier to use on a day to day basis because you can customise it to your very liking. If you're constantly on Facebook, put a widget on your home screen. If you're constantly turning wifi and blue tooth off/on, you can do so from the notification bar or by putting widgets on your home screen.

Also, with a little bit of learning and setting up an app called Tasker, you can completely automate nearly everything your phone does. I've set mine up so that when I connect to my cars blue tooth it turns volume up to max and starts Spotify for me. You don't have the power to do things like that on iOS.

Question, does the Smart features drain a lot of battery? I've had them turned off because I assumed they would kill battery life.

No and dont know why you would think they would. It isnt something running in the background. They are functions that work when you motion them to work. For instance, if you have your contacts open on your wife or girlfriend and hold the phone up to your face, it will call her. Same as if you tried to call her any other way.

I dont use the motion with the hand to make a screen shot(though it is turned on). I prefer to just use the power and home button at the same time but again, ...it isnt using power if it is dormat.

Maybe its just you. They both do the same thing. My phone/computer does this and your dont. My phone/computer has a bigger screen and yours dont.....etc, etc.

Apples Mac vs PC ads werent any better. Go look at them on Youtube. The Mac puts down the PC and the PC guys keeps repeating things like "wait til next year, things will be different" over and over while they obviously mean it hasnt gotten any better. All those commercials pretty much do the same thing which is to say Apple is better.

Good luck...
Hmmm I guess I did say that once. Still, I suppose some people would consider the biggest exodus to date to be a mass exodus but I wouldn't consider it "mass" since that would be a debilitating amount of people leaving, in my opinion.

It's not like Samsung is stalking Apple. Apple is their biggest competition. Why is it "odd" to focus on your competition?

For me, there is no need to put the S3 to shame. I won't have a look at it, because i hate Samsung. Every phone they make is crap by default, because that company will screw you over. They do it to apple, they will do it to you.

I like Nokia and even the windows phones coming (well, i don't like MS, but the OS I like). I like HTC (owned 12 of them). Android is ok (except for fragmentation). But nothing beats the integration and philosophy apple puts in their producs.

I've been an iPhone user since day 1, updated to each model each time, and will so now. The only thing I dislike is people that aren't much into the tech having one (using it as mirrors, godawful cases, etc., and the android-is-better-I-am-leaving crowd (really, don't threaten to go, threats are for kids, just, leave already!)

Thank you for proving to me that some Android fans have the capacity to co-mingle with iOS users. I really had lost hope there.

Just as some people can hate Apple as a company for its practices and like its designs, some people can be Android users and recognize why Apple does so well. If you look at my posts, you'll find that I am very critical of Apple having exclusive rights to some things, but I have to discredit stupid arguments from my side as well. If I didn't, it might look like I'm alright with such arguments.

No. I'd gladly take the S3 form factor running iOS but since it doesnt then its not better or worse. Just different.

This x100. When I first got the s3, all I kept saying was: "I wish I could run ios on this". I have been slowly getting used to the android platform, still like iOS (have multiple iOS devices). It's just a different experience.

Is there a reason one phone has to put another to shame? Just buy what you like and don't care what anyone else buys. :)

I gotta admit, i'm an Apple-IPhone user in ever respect, but I would be more than happy to glady trade it for a Galaxy S3 anyday... Because the specs are better in every way, even with iPhone 5, i was shocked that apple kept the same 'chunky' form factor.

They could have shaved it down by making the round buttns on the side, thin, just like on the Galaxy S3.....removing all that extra space.

I'm beginning to wonder weather Apple will ever get it right.

This is one key where Apple 'claim to fame" with "the iPhone 5 is impessive".

Well.. Not to me, its not.

FYI... And i'm all for that Samsung ad :)

Agreed. iOS on a Galaxy S3 would be the best smartphone experience I could imagine. Sure, the build quality isn't perfect but everything else would rock.

Um, it would just be a bigger iPhone with iOS and missing features that Android has so i dont agree and dont see how that makes sense at all.
That is a big reason why i liked Android over the iPhone. Because the OS does more.

I guess your trying to say you wish the new iPhone was bigger? Now i do agree with that.

I think we're in for another "Mac vs PC" campain?.. But with mobiles?

I think its even more "odd" the same company who makes displays for Apple, is the same one who's getting sued.

How ironic ..!!

Apple should have made a. "peace-treaty" with Samsung, like they did with Microsoft.

The iPhone 5 is a full millimeter thinner than the S3. Do you mean you wish it was more curved?

Its all business. Samsung doesn't want to lose Apple as a customer as Apple doesn't want Samsung parts. However to the best of my knowledge iPhone 5 uses less Samsung parts then previous iPhones....
