Been searching for a backup iPod classic, as I worry my current one won't last forever. Amazon is very highly priced. £314.99 is way overpriced. So I try ebay and came someone selling it for £999

If you are still after one I managed to get one from Wakefield Argos on Friday, paid £199, maybe some more available around the country - maybe phone customer services?

I'm not sure on keeping the one I got as I have a reservation for an iPhone 6 128GB due to pick up tomorrow. I'd love to keep the classic as well for history sake, but doubt the Other half will allow that!

Try your local ASDA - don't bother with the online sites but individual stores may still have some in stock.

With the way carriers charge for data and the way streaming hiccups, these services are a far cry from having a massive library and the quickness of local access.

I am actually dissappointed in the general population; they have allowed these streaming services to become successful which will only lead to less rights and less control of the information you're paying for. The idea I have to depend on a companies server that has no promise that x video/music will be available at any time and that they can terminate my membership for any reason doesn't sit well for me. Nor does the idea of them being able to just delete what they please.

I think consumers are being foolish, this gives more control to the companies than it does the consumers. Not to mention the potential security issues, privacy issues that comes with steaming/cloud services.

Its unfortunate that many don't realize the kinds of freedoms they are giving up with these services. In fact these are the services that have essentially halted the expansion of local capacity because these hardware developers want you to pay monthly for their services to get space. If it weren't for these streaming services and cloud services I would guarentee you phones would be at 128/256 GB capacities. These cloud/streaming services are hurting advancement in technology in my opinion.

As for the classic, I am having a hard time moving from the classic to other devices. I have started to use my Note 3 with an external 64GB + Internal 64GB card for music but its cumbersome and touch interface is annoying for music having to look at it all the time.

I agree with you 100%. I do not subscribe to any of the services I mentioned for that reason. I do purchase movies from itunes occasionaly so I'll have access to them in the cloud, but I also download a physically copy and back it up because I still have a hard time trusting it will be there in the future.

2 reasons why I have an iPod classic and just bought another as a reserve:

1) Streaming via cellular is not always reliable on road trips in the car. Even major metropolitan areas can have areas of weak signal strength etc.

2) Classical music streaming is currently terrible. Most music services (iTunes Radio, Spotify, Pandora etc) will only play a single movement of a classical piece. That's fine for rock/pop music (songs as opposed to entire album) but it is completely out of context for classical music.

Wish I had gotten an iPod Classic before they were all gone. :( I have an iPod Nano (4th gen) and a couple lines of pixels are dead/dying. I've used it almost everyday since I bought it in 2008. Still works great except for the pixel issue.

My 80GB Classic is still going strong, I've seen a few ipod/phone repair companies on the web that'll put a 240GB drive in my ipod for £110, so I'm going to go down that route. I'm sure these people are capable of sticking a card or SSD in it too. I simply haven't the confidence to do it myself..

I ain't paying £300 for what is basically a hard drive now the price has gone up.

spares and ipod upgrade kits on ebay have tripled price. should of bought last month :(. sitll managed to get it all separately all fairly cheap. but get it while you can.

a ipod 160gb hdd, new battery and back casing all one package was 49.99 now its 149.99!

I managed to snag an iPod Classic today at a Walmart that had its grand opening today.......it was its last one and it was only for $245!!!

I bought one and still haven't opened it and don't plan on doing so for awhile. I have a silver one I am using now, and when it dies I want to convert to flash and install a new battery. Price is up to $500 on Amazon, solid investment by me
