Wow it is so much fun on safari on the ipad. I am posting this from my iPad. The Internet in your hands is so cool.

No, no it's not. It's the majority of video out there currently.

It's starting to be the minority of video sites even. Because the major players either have or are in the process of having iPad friendly versions.

html5 only is 10% more efficient....but that's still 10% better.

but aside from flash, is it a better browsing experience?

For single window browsing, it is the best browsing experience. If you like to have multiple things open and use stuff from each window it obviously isn't as nice.

Absolutely no way. My CPU usage goes down from 95-100% with Flash to only 40% on HTML5 video. The site I've used is Youtube. :)

I was going by a side to side comparison on youtube that someone did. I may have remembered it wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was around 10%.

.....actual experiences my vary :D

Yes I would say that it is by far the best and most immersive browsing experience you can find.

Not having flash sucks :/ Aside from that though the browsing experience is pretty neat. It's alot more fun/inuitive browsing with your fingers vs a mouse or trackpad. This is definitely alot nicer than web browsing on a laptop. I think if Apple eventually supports flash or if another device similiar to this comes out with flash support then I won't need a laptop anymore! Looking forward to that day.

that's the reason i didn't buy one for my mom.....all of her asian websites use flash

Yea a bunch of my websites have empty squares saying flash player required, I don't visit any asian websites though. Others seem to remove the flash content and rearrange the webpage without the square so it's not as noticeable but still the content is missing.

Just wondering, when you visit a website, does it default to the mobile version or the full version (i.e. flickr)?

Amen!

It's going to depend on how each site interprets the iPad's user agent string, and in the case of Flickr, it defaults to the full site. So does Facebook, in case you were wondering.

So far, browsing is pretty awesome on the iPad. The worst part is having to give it back to the hubby and wait for my 3G version. :(
