I really wanted a new Mini because I need to get another computer. I guess Apple is only leaving me one option, buy a Windows based machine :-(

Oh, please. Surely the only reason you would like a Mac is so that you can run Mac-OS, Logic, Final Cut, etc...
Well, guess what, you ain't going to get any of that on a Windows machine.

On the other side, if Windows is an acceptable OS for your needs/wants then why are you even thinking about getting a Mac? Windows boxes are way, way, cheaper.

No need to acknowledge those who feel that current Mac Mini offerings are not suited / inadequate for the needs of of the self professed "power users", who make their desires for state of the art and higher specs abundantly apparent here.

You seem to be happy with what you have and this thread. I don't see why you want to even reply in this thread, filled with people who want more. By more I don't mean state of the art - not at all - with me at least I just want something using the current generation of hardware. Like for example, Nvidia's current graphics cards are the 10 series right? State of the art would be something like their 1080 model, or SLI. Nvidia's 1040-1050 card is current but not state of the art.

None of us are asking for graphics cards in our minis, its just an example. I want a Mini with current hardware.

So you are happy with your Mini - ok well keep it! :) We're just asking for an update to the product and frustrated that there is none to be had.

I personally thought my 2014 base model was satisfactory, and then I gave it to a family member in June 2016 thinking an update was coming soon. That is the root of my frustration. I refuse to rebuy the same computer a year later.

Can only blame yourself really…. Why get rid of something that's functioning fine to chase a fantasy?

Given that my own Mac Mini is used for work, it will be replaced or repaired in short order (a couple or three days) if is ceases to function, or proves inadequate for changing needs.
