They are either... delaying to make hype more.

Fixing the wifi issues or attempting to do something about it...

Or theres generally an issue with supply...

It still doesnt alter the fact that they could have gave us the prices by now.

I would think they would need to wait till close to launch to get the price right with the exchange rate.

But Apple cocked up. They also give preference to Americans.

Marketing master plan to build appetite in you European suckers.....er consumers. Apple's stockpiling iPads by the millions in a snow cave at the base of a glacier in Iceland. Once the addicts.....er customers, reach the height of their hunger, Apple will start putting the drug on the streets. :D

All of the above maybe

And? American company, if they released to the UK first **** would hit the fan here.
Pretty much every company gives preference to their home country.
Exactly.

Frankly it could be bad press about attempted suicides due to overwhelming work conditions. Or supply and demand. Who knows? Filed under: who gives a ****?

Not impressed. I do have another option: HP Slate :)

Ah yes, the non-product with the HP touch interface layered over a full desktop version of Win7 from the masters of the tablet at Microsoft. Not to mention the complete lack of a content delivery system, zero content agreements with the publishers of anything at all, and an app developer base that numbers in the tens of tens. Good luck with that! But technically you are correct, if they ever build it, the slate will represent a choice.

Lets not forget that Microsoft has also had a history of the most tablet / slate failures of any company out there.

Funny, I was just reading this article a little while ago. http://technologizer.com/2010/01/27/the-long-fail-a-brief-history-of-unsuccessful-tablet-computers/

I think the single most reason that the 3G was delayed is because they aren't going to be able to achieve the same battery life as the wifi version.

Apple was smart enough to have a massive audience rave about the battery life of the wifi so that when the 3G is released we could all collectively sit back and say "hmm this iPad is only getting 7 hours but that's understandable because it's 3G"

This creates the ultimate trade off for early adopters... People who currently own the non-3G who were thinking about eventually ditching their wifi version for it will sit back and wait for the reviews to pour in. When they realize that the 3G version has lower battery performance the psyche will persuade them to keep their non-3G.

The delay has nothing to do with production caps...Apple is smarter than that.

Sent from my iPad ;-)

The OP was asking about global shipments, which I haven't tracked since I am in the U.S.

Others have diverted it to discussion of the "3g delay" ... what delay?

And, why do people keep theorizing that the 3g battery life is really short when the 3g battery life been posted on Apple's site for a while?

I actually think it's a discrimination issue. I've heard in the past Jobs has been known to make derogatory comments about people from overseas.

Sad, really but it's his company I guess!

So i have been thinking after todays world wide release delay and have been pondering the real reason behind it, i dont take the "due to overwhelming US demand" crap as by Apple's own figures they have only sold an extra 150k since launch day.

Correction - that was just over a week after the launch. So selling 150,000 per week is not overwhelming? Lets hope you never get into business ;)

To be honest, they would have probably started production in mid-November at the least, so they should have had plenty of time.

you wont have to wait for those. guarantee.

i have an idea...have your country come up with an amazing piece of technology and you can have it first.

We've had our time. Tea is an example of what is exported. Some oil is exported. Technology wise, Richard Arkwright. ARM. (Give back our John Ive). Telephone. Light Bulb. Radio. Jet propulsion.

Only time will tell is the price over here will be "unbelievable" becuase there are indicators suggesting that they won't be.

maybe the next thing you guys can invent is a time machine so you can go back to your prime.
or you could go forward and get an ipad whenever they decide to ship um over there.

dont tread on me.

Hmm, I'm actually talking about a time machine with someone here. We're both physics students. Unfortunately we can't publicly discuss the details, but I can assure you it is making me interesting in hyper-magnetism.

Yes. I hear that will also cure arthritis.
