I get the impression the new range was kinda rushed through ..... new keyboard but still the same plastic mouse and remote ..... WTF ?!

Does Apple have an official policy to ignore certain sections of the market like gamers and TV watchers ??!!

Will there ever be an iMac with a kick ass Graphics Card and built in TV card ?? :(:mad:
No, and I doubt we'll see a cheaper towermodell either :(.

Would be awesome with a "mac gamer" variant of the mini, with better cooling and a free pci-expresslot which took bios-gfxcards.

But I guess the hacks will have all the fun.

Sigh....some of you here are just a bunch of moaners. Funny thing is the next revision you're all waiting for STILL WON"T have an SLI Graphics card, 56" LCD, 60GB of RAM or a 3TB RAID nor will it make you breakfast and give your car an oil check.

True only about 50% use their computers for games .....

agree and at least 1/2 of them will be happy with the gaming ability of the new imac.

Hard core gamers will stay clear due to lack of titles, lack of user swappable parts and the fact that imac uses mobile hardware in the main.

Apple will be very happy with having 75% of all computer buyers as their addressable market. :)

There must be a thread running on a PC forum somewhere on the net about why PCs aren't perfect yet for graphic designers ;)

If this was true then it would reflect in sales ..... which it doesn't !! Apple is a niche player despite having the far better computer !!

Hardcore gamers will stay clear of anything less than a Cray !! :D The Mass Market for gaming would be satisfied with simply an Option to upgrade the Graphics card

Now if Apple put a decent Graphics card in the iMac they might actually SELL to 75% of the market instead of errrr 5% ?? ;)

Very True ..... but the iMac's crappy gaming ability is making people who would love an Apple ..... go buy a crappy Dell .....

The fact that Apple switched over to Intel and so made Windows far easier to run ..... was a great move by Apple and pushed up sales with marketing along the lines of "why buy 2 computers" and "more reasons to buy Mac" ..... surely making an iMac a decent gaming PC would be the same !!

Yeah .... I'm sure that having only a tiny percentage of the market is the best they can do ....

Going after the gaming market is obviously not a priority and frankly i cant blame them, the market isn't that large so for a company with finite resources it wont be a priority.

There are simply bigger fish to fry. The card in the iMac is perfect for its form factor. Quiet, low power consuming and decent power....not high end power which the iMac essentially.

If your a gamer or rely on Motion or something look elsewhere. It's that simple. The iMac won't be a gaming machine anytime soon.....people should realise that by now.

You cannot be more wrong my friend. The gaming industry recently surpassed the movie industry in sales. I really wouldn't call that a small market.

What part is computer and what part is console? At any rate the iMacs graphics card is midrange and will suit most gamers just fine. Very few will need the power of Crossfire XTX or Ultra SLI cards although it would be nice if Apple offered a BTO of the 8700m GT (I hear the 8800m is delayed, again).
