I happen to be the boss at my branch too....and my boss is 250 miles away. Just means I need to lead by example. if it's okay for me to screw off at work....must be okay for my employees too....right?

Just giving you a hard time. I get 4 weeks of PTO....I can afford a play day.

There are times I really love my work schedule. Instead of 8-hour days M-F, I work an extra hour Monday through Thursday and alternate between an 8 hour day and a day off on Fridays. This week is my Friday off. No vacation time needed.

I took the day off so that I can get my housework done in the early am before my Ipad arrives. I ordered a 16GB, but plan to go to the mall to see if I can acquire a 32GB and return the 16GB. We'll see how that works. I was planning to get in line at about 3:00, is that too late? Both Apple stores near me said that they had plenty of the wifi's available on 4/3 after the reserves were handled, so I'm thinking 2 hours should be plenty? Any thoughts or past experiences.

Uh if you called in "sick" or take "vacation" days, you still get paid so... Unless you have exhausted all your vacation/sick days then you really have nothing to lose

I took the day off for a couple reasons. It's supposed to be nice out and since I didn't ship the iPad to my work, I'll have to be home to sign for it. Also, I have 1 personal day left that I have to burn by May 1st or I lose it, so it just seemed fitting.

I have all sorts of vacation time (185+ hours), and am more than happy to find a good reason to take a day off. Waiting for my 3G iPad to be delivered by FedEX is as good a reason as any.

You guys do know you can print out the presign form and leave it on your door and theyll leave the package at your door or wherever you want right? No need to miss work or call them to hold it at the hub. Just print out the form and tape it to your door.

Uhhh or unless you are Salaried and have time off to take. I am actully doing the same thing I have been at my company for 6 years and have 7 weeks of paid time off I have to take this 4 weeks off this year or I will lose half of it. Seems like as good a reason as any.

Not that I give a rat's azz what you do, but taking 2 entire days off work to get an iPad? Unless you work for like $1 an hour, that makes for a pretty expensive iPad.

I may take the day off, I will decide tomorrow. Just cause its getting delivered to my mother house, the doorman will hold it until 5pm when he leaves, I work from 4 to 12 on fridays which sucks.

Are you crazy, and have them leave that little gem on the front porch for any jerk to come steal, no thank you. I think id rather wait until Monday to pick it up at the hub rather than leave it on the front porch.


Now in a perfect world, Fed Ex would call you 30 min prior to delivery do that you could meet them at the house. I think id have trouble going back to work though.

But in that so-called perfect world the delivery would cost twice as much. They would have to hire a person to call all customers prior to delivery.
