Preordered it a month ago 'cause I just recently got around to finishing the first one around that time, which was quite delightful but incredulously short. I'll be getting it on the 22nd. Why they didn't mail it to me earlier so I could have it on the day of release I don't know, since I'm sure Gamestop gets it like, at least a week before at all their locations. Oh well, it's not too terribly important and I'm still getting the bonus co-op skin. Not sure if I'll actually redeem it or just keep it on hand as a bargaining chip. I wonder if it expires....

I am VERY impressed thus far! Some of these "chambers" are difficult to a satisfying degree - I feel very proud of myself when I have them beaten!

I've been taking a LOT of time to stop and simply look around at everything. The environment is absolutely amazing to look at it, even though it's so run down and destructed.

There's a reason that I loved the original Portal so much, and Valve by extension. This only reaffirms that!

so has anyone tried it yet with the new 13inch MBP? I'm interested in how it runs w/ the Integrated card

Got it for my birthday today( PS3 version which includes free pc/mac copy), played the co-op only. Amazing that I can play on my computer and play co-op with someone on console.
FINALLY some one did this. I <3 valve.

I'd buy it, but I'm not really sure what it's about. I'm a complete chicken so I'm not going to buy a game that may or may not be scary :p

The IGN review:

"Makes the original look like the prototype it was. It's filled with a larger cast of characters vividly brought to life through brilliant writing and some of the best voice acting in video games...From the beginning of the single-player story to the end of the co-op mode, Portal 2 is a novel, unforgettable experience. "

Averaging 95/100 on Metacritic:

Lol its not scary. Its essentially a first person puzzle platformer. Its very fun and FWIW I don't know anyone who has played it who doesn't love it.

I'll give it a try then, it does look fun I just didn't want it to be a puzzle/murder 5000 evil creatures thing

No there is actually only one type of enemy and they aren't scary, they don't move (but they say funny things when you are near them). The game is absolutely fantastic.

Stephen Merchant is a bloody genius. Hilarious stuff. I wonder how much of his lines are scripted, and if he improvised anything himself. In any case, the dialogue is so good it makes me more depressed at the quality of writing in the games industry in general. (I'm looking at you, Blizzard.)

My only complaint with the game is that it is too easy, even compared to Portal 1's normal levels. Anyone else feel this way? Granted, I am only on Chapter 6, so there's still time for the game to get hard.

^ Maybe you're just too smart cougar haha. I never super struggled in the first portal, but a lot made me think. And thinking is what makes me feel good, rewarding. If you're just plowing through it without much thought, you are a baller. =D

Oh, don't get me wrong, the game requires plenty of thought...I've been stumped in a few places only to have a nice "Aha!" moment a few minutes later...I was just expecting the game to be on par with the difficulty of the last chambers of Portal 1, and it's nowhere near that, at least not yet.

I thought the puzzles were much more difficult in this one, especially once you get the gel. They aren't Braid difficult but they are a descent challenge.

On a mac?

Which of you were running on a Mac? I've had slideshow-like framerates from Portal 2 since I downloaded it this afternoon. I've submitted a problem ticket to Steam and will wait for their reply, but in the meantime is anyone else having Portal 2 problems on the Mac?

Try re-installing it? Back it up and restore it.

Smooth as silk with my 2.8 i5 and ATI 5850, max settings, in 10.6.7.

Bought it yesterday on my way home, played for about 1,5 hours, so far it's really nice. I smiled a lot at the sarcastic comments of the artificial intelligence. :)

I play it in OS X. Always smooth as silk with every single setting maxed out @ 2560x1440 on my ATI 5870 Mac Pro.

Beat it in 5 hours. Loved it, especially the new gels; but the puzzles were still rather weak in my opinion. The plot seemed rather rambling at times, but the voice acting as brilliantly done.

I'm glad my Portal 2 issue isn't widespread. When you say re-install do you mean re-download as well? Thanks.

I was thinking using steam's back up utility. and then restore using steam as well to save on the download part. But yeah you should also verify it and see if things are good.

Great, popped Portal 2 in to my PS3 and was very nicely told that the PlayStation Network is down, and hence I can't link to my Steam account.

Ran up to the computer, input the code from the voucher in to Steam and was promptly told that because I haven't linked my Steam account with my PS3 I can't use the code. So I can't have Portal 2, because the PSN is being DDoS'd.

Thanks Anonymous, you childish pricks.
