Looong wait, and assume it'll be sold out initially.Sounds good could be along wait though
Just sold my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro I got on release day, so 1 week short of a year old. Only cost me $200AUD to own for a year.
Was mainly used as a TV in my office which I can do on my 24" iMac anyway, and for browsing crap at night on the lounge while watching TV so could use my 13 max for that or just don't lol.
My home office is central so easy to come in here, have had 1 holiday in 2 years, don't travel for work anymore only do day trips and my 13 max is all I need for that.
Tried a mini was good for books/apps not much diff than my 13 max for browsing, but also have a 11th gen kindle. Was thinking about a 13" MB Air or 14" pro but it's doubling up with macOS, i like my 24" in my office.
So what's next? I dunno? maybe nothing!!
Ive already got the 12.3” 120hz OLED Samsung Tab S8+ Tim Cook is a supply chain genius he’ll just buy these off SamsungSounds good could be along wait though

Wrong, I have had every iPad since the beginning. I know full well what a iPad is for me.If you don't know what to do with your iPad its just because you bought one without knowing what you'll do with it and expected to act as a full computer replacement or something when its not.
…so I got a MBP 16” as an iPad replacement. It has ProMotion/XDR, insane battery life, and a bigger screen so with the best thing about the iPad Pro 12.9” (display) gone then what’s the advantage of the iPad?
yea if you want a tablet like experience with a desktop mode a chrome tablet could be good. Also samsung with dex or surface pro. I feel a desktop like experience with an ipad would make it the perfect tablet but yea i agree with way you sayThe problem wirth the iPad is there's too many people expected to use it as a laptop replacement and then they regret their purchase and said the iPad is trash. I have a 27' iMac, a 13 pro max and a M1 iPad pro and each devices have their own needs.. I like playing some mobile games on a bigger screen so the iPad is perfect for this. I also prefer the iPad for casual web browsing or watching some TV shows sometimes.
I use my iMac for almost anything. But sometime I just want to be comfortable so that's why I love the iPad on the couch and I use my phone for well..phone related stuff and as a portable device when I'm on the go,

My Surface Pro 7 is a mediocre tablet but a great laptop. My 2021 12.9 is a great tablet but a mediocre laptop replacement (for me). I can live without a great tablet but I need the laptop capabilities. Push comes to shove, the iPP would go and I'd keep the SP7.
If I can only keep 2 devices (phone + desktop/laptop/tablet), I'd say I'll have to give up the iPad as well.
That said, I'm not a fan of the Surface at all so I'll likely go for a proper laptop (ThinkPad with matte display preferred).
Same, I started with the Surface pro 3 in 2014, then with a cellular equipped clone of the surface pro 4 from the HP business line (Elite), but I realized that while I love the pen input, I was never using it as a tablet. The iPad pro was larger, lighter, cooler, better sounding and fanless (well my HP was also fanless, but run hot). Cellular was important for me, but lappability of surface devices is poor and I was using my cellular iPad pro as my on the go laptop with remote desktop. But now I finally moved to a 4G Thinkpad Nano. Lighter than even the 11in iPad pro with magic keyboard, let alone the surface pro and type cover, matte high res screen, great keyboard, double biometrics (touch id + face id), good battery life and battery health protection. What can you ask for more?Yeah, I went for the SP7 out of curiosity, but the next update will be another standard laptop; I just don't use the laptop mode much. I've had the Dell XPS-13 in the past and liked it and would likely go that way again.
I think everyone wouldn't chose the iPad if we could only have two devices because as of right now, iOS /iPadOS is too limited for some tasks that only a computer can do and in the other hand, everyone need a mobile phone these days so the choice is simple. There's some scenario when someone could be perfectly happy with an iPad as their main device, but I imagine those people are the one who only used their computer for browsing the web/mail or simple light things like this before and never needed more.If I can only keep 2 devices (phone + desktop/laptop/tablet), I'd say I'll have to give up the iPad as well.

For the majority of people I think the iPad is a luxury accessory for entertainment more than anything else, but I think its awesome in that specific category and its one of my favorite tech device since the iPad Pros. I prefer my iPad way more than my iPhone.
Note that If I have to chose for ONE tech device, my iMac is still the most useful of them all and I couldn't live without it.
There is no rule to say you can't enjoy or use an iPad. Use what suits your needs the best.At least for personal/home use, the iPad covers my usage around 90% of the time. The problem is that other 10%.
Meanwhile, iPhone + laptop can cover pretty much everything I use my iPad for. They’re just not as ideal/comfortable to use as the iPad.
