Gotta be in it to win it
I couldn't find anything in the post you quoted that shouts hysterics that Apple is doomed either. As I said, a strawman. Peppered with a double standard.
It seems fashionable to post only negative opinions, whether warranted or not, and is very one sided. Yes a double standard all around. Thanks for pointing that out.

We all here have been saying this for years now. The tech world is saying it as well.

Yep. I post these links to show that it's not just some subforum of users nitpicking the iPhone and iOS.

Again, these two paragraphs are especially poignant and shouldn't be ignored:

Should Apple really be seen as a company that waits for the competition to perfect an idea before it decides to join the party, especially when it is working on the idea in its own labs? Or should Apple continue to take risks and look for more than a collection of small wins that will keep its product lines selling but hands control of ‘this is what an innovative smartphone looks like‘ to another manufacturer?

Any strong market works best when there are competing forces trying to be better than everyone else. The smartphone ecosystem is no different. The competition to design, to innovate, and to release cutting edge technology drives progress. For Apple to sit back and not fully engage may seem to be the best short-term move for Apple, but in the long-term it does the brand a disservice.

I agree...I think Apple has it in them to do great things. But they are so consumed with only releasing as much tech or ideas as they have to in product releases. They want to maximize profit from those ideas and technology. Which is some what understandable. They are in business to make money after all.

But they can only do this for a certain period of tine because the rest of the market space will move past them technology wise. This has happened to them already in the mobile phone market. They are no longer leading but following others in technology.
Apple has a track record of taking ideas and making great products from them. But as of late they have been following instead of leading. Kind of resting on their laurels so to speak.
The next couple of iPhone releases will be huge for them. Do they have ideas for the next generation iphones? Or did those ideas pass with SJ? We will see soon enough.

Its looking like the 2017 iPhone will be the big change with curved display and what not. But Samsung already has that and are looking into fold able displays as well.

I'm hoping 2017 also brings about an iOS 11 that'll complete some of the ideas that iOS 10 started, namely allowing users to set default apps, even more customization to 3D Touch, etc. Hopefully we'll also see improved features to the keyboard, and whatnot.

Pair that with the rumors of big hardware changes and features, it'll be very interesting.

I think the iPhone this year will be Apple's typical stellar update. But it definitely sounds like next year is when the fireworks might start.

Yup I will be getting the 7 Plus, currently on the 6 Plus. I want the 2017 OLED iPhone but I cant wait that long.

On another note I really dont get why apple is so against choosing your own defaults on IOS. On macOS you can pick defaults for everything...

Some developers get around this by setting a link in their app. Outlook for example gives me a choice of which browser to open when I use links in my mail.

As much as I want things improved in IOS, I dont like android. I only have had bad experiences.

Always? iOS 9 didn't introduce quite a few iPad-specific features? The Pro line of iPads that have newer and better features than iPhones doesn't exist? As usual, we are "always" going with the unnecessary and incorrect absolutes, extremes, and hyperbole.

Similar sentiments were made when Apple was releasing the iPod and "chasing" the MP3 player industry in the minds of many. The Apple is doomed concept has certainly been playing out extremely well for years and years now.
It took them how many years since Windows came up with the concept of split screen and multi tasking on tablets?Windows 8 supported split screen and Pip since it was released. They added those features once iPad LITERALLY started tanking and they needed to somehow cushion its free fall and they ripped off those features from Windows

Pro Line? The only Pro thing on it is the Apple Pencil.I can hook up a Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard to my iPad Air 2 (which is more comfortable than the Smart Keyboard btw) and it provided 90% of the functionality that the Pro 9.7 provides. The ONLY difference between the iOS on iPhone and the one on iPad is Split screen and Slideover.Almost all apps desktop Mac counterparts are superior in office workflows

Does it have a file manager?
Does it have a version of Office superior to the iPhone?
Are productivity apps any different featurewise to the iPhone?

I wouldn't touch a 1st generation overhaul like the rumours suggest it may be. Especially given the QC downward trend I've seen in Apple in the last few years.

I hope they sort out the yellow tint at the top issue once they shift to OLED.I must have exchanged my iPhone quite a few times till I got a serviceable version

So basically not "always" as you claimed. Got it.

you're lack of wanted to engage does not constitute my posts being a straw man.

The fact that the poster you quoted doesn't say nor imply "the sky is falling" is what constitutes your response to him as a strawman.

Unless you want to show me where his post says that.

I'm getting sick of this 'the 2017 iPhone needs to do this'. Apple need the big release this year, 2016. Those who get the first edition iPhones should not be forced to wait another 12 months for a phone that is due now IMO. We've had some really good phones so far this year and the bar has been raised so 2017 is far too lazy if that is really what Apple are planning.

This is assuming the rumours are correct. It wouldn't surprise me if they have been created deliberately by Apple, in order to keep people in the ecosystem.

Personally, I'm not waiting till September 2017 on some vague promise of a phone that may never be built. Even if it is, the tech industry will have moved onto something else by then.

Exactly. Apple is so far behind in the tech in the iPhone that it is becoming ridiculous. By the time they put current tech into a phone, the industry will have moved on to something else. It's a good thing though, because it pushes the leading companies to do even better.
