The card I have is a real x850xt PE. I have the X800XT reduced rom flashed to it since it was the most stable rom I could find so far. I tried the X850XT reduced rom previously but it had issues with resolution . It was stuck at 1024x768. I couldn't change the resolution then when i cleared the pram. It really messed up.

thats because the Reduced rom is missing the NDRV witch the ATI drivers don't provide for the X850XT. to get it working solder on a 128KB ROM chip to your X850XT PE and flash it with the full sized X850XT ROM (DVI will still be dead tho)

Interesting, then probably will need to solder on a larger rom chip, and use a real apple x850xt rom. The apple version thats online is 108, but mine has 112, newer than any other I have seen. I suspect that rom, combined with larger rom chip, and tweaked speed, could replicate a mac xtpe

Played with it a little bit more this evening with another ROM and was able to get it to this in Tiger: X850XT PE - 18874

I can get the Processor up to stock but can't get the memory up to X850XT PE stock.

What Mac are you running this card in, just out of curiosity? I don't recall you mentioning it. I just ordered a FireGL x3 for my DAG4 and I'm praying it works.

Edit: Just saw that it's a 1.8 G5. Never mind!

Tried this with a couple flashed 6200's in a cube:

5807 low profile black card (I think theses are the common ones on fleabay)

7008 blue BFG card with faster ram/gpu

Wow, I had no idea the 6200's were that fast !

I thought they were nearly the same as the slow poke 5200.

I might be looking for one, they both beat my PC/Mac 9600 in my Xserve G4. Can you link any ebay auctions of the 2 cards you benchmarked? especially the faster one.

alright so I fitted my ATI Radeon 9200 AGP to my PowerMac G5 and ran Open mark. Enjoy

Looking at your "still needed" list, I do have a Radeon 7000 but can not, for the life of me, get it to benchmark. The display blanks every time I try to do it. I've tried it in several computers, including both a B&W G3 and Yikes! G4, both of which have a dedicated 66mhz PCI slot for the graphics card.

I'm a bit at a loss on why I'm having trouble, but if I ever get it to work will happily post the results.

I'm also still desperately seeking a GEForce 3, but it's also eluding me, or at least at a reasonable price.

Updated: This is new updated score for the x850xt PE. I think this is as close as I can get to the stock memory still not to 590. I also upped the core a little bit as well since this does not seem to cause any artifacts. This is a different rom and it is again reduced but there are some issues. Like the fan control does not seem to work. The fan runs at full speed and only has 1 resolution all the time unlike the x800xt rom that I used previously. Probably the result of the missing NDRV. Anways , here it is:

ATI Radeon X800 XT OpenGL Engine ( X850XT PE flashed )
1280x1024x32
19170

I think sometime this weekend I might take the fan off and put new heat sink compound on it. See if heat has anything to do with the memory not able to be upped to stock x850xt-pe specs.

Oh cool I see you made this a wiki now. I'll test my DA G4 with Rage128Pro graphics very soon and add it.

Rage 128 VR

Thanks for making this thread a Wiki OP.

I went ahead and added the result from the Rage 128 VR in my 400 MHz iMac G3. Not pretty, definitely the lowest scoring GPU on this thread (so far).

I've wondered all through this thread whether or not slot speed matters for GPU performance. I've tested several cards where it didn't seem to, but others where it did.

My initially reported numbers for the Radeon 7500 were in a Cube, which has a 2x AGP slot. I just recently acquired a rackmount G4 Digital Audio, which has a 4x AGP slot and came with a Radeon 7500 installed.

Here are the results-it seems as though at least with this card that moving to a faster slot does indeed make a difference.

Rage 128 Pro

Rage 128 -----------------------259

I don't know where this crazy score for the Rage 128 came from, but I have tested two Rage 128 Pros in two Sawtooths and both matched up with bunnspecial's at 225 on the second test.

Edit: Added the Rage 128 Pro to to the list.

I reported the 259 score. It was a PCI Rage 128 in my Xserve.

I'll try it again in a B&W or Yikes!.

Does anyone else have a Radeon 7000 they can try? I have one, but for the life of me can't get it to successfully run OpenGL. I've tried it in a couple of different computers-most recently in a Yikes! which has the dedicated 66mhz graphics bus, but it won't benchmark in anything.

I'm wondering if it's some peculiarity in the card I have. It otherwise works great.

Where do I download OpenMark? I want to test this on the DAG4 but I cannot find a download link anywhere!!

Nevermind; found one at macpowerpc.com
(for some reason I cannot paste here anymore! And right-clicking does a left click (only here though) )

Really great to see all the benchmarks guys!

This has turned into a fantastic OpenGL speed comparison for the powerpc mac video cards.

The reason I was so interested in it, is core-image in Leopard. It uses OpenGL to show the user interface, meaning these benchmarks, at least in Leopard, are all that matter for video performance.
