Hahaha I'd rather not have the hassle!

Reboot seemed to do the trick though :). It was not normal how much it was stuttering and lagging so hopefully it was just a little glitch. I haven't rebooted it since having it so maybe that's all it needed :)

Mine did it once also, rebooted and it did not happen again.

At the current price I doubt many will try this smartphone but other than that one hiccup it has performed admirably. Lots of folks here have the camera quality in the mix of what to lay money down on, that is not a concern of mine but the iPhones and Samsungs are tough to beat.

So what is everyone rocking case wise on their XZ Premiums? I'm guessing you're all using cases?

I've just took the case off mine and damn I just love the feel of this phone with no case. It's probably the nicest feel ever to a device in my opinion. Really does feel premium.

I could never use this phone without though it wouldn't last thirty seconds with no protection to that mirrored finish. Ahhh if only I had money to burn and didn't have to worry about selling this along the line to find another device in future!

Naked, the device is large to begin with and I would not like looking at it as much with a case. :)

Brave!

How's the device looking after using it nekkid for a while?! Also, what colour did you end up with? Can't remember if you said!

Still looks great, I am careful with my smartphones. Most mishaps that come with fumbling or dropping smartphones is because folks are trying to do something else besides using the smartphone (I dare say driving).

I have bought cases for smartphones in the past, even the one for the LG G3 which I thought I would always use cause it was unique and had nice features. Just wasted my money, I enjoyed using it with the case but not enough. :)

So my XZ Premium is playing up again.
Well I've rebooted so seems ok now, but once again the same issues as before. Really laggy at work earlier today with little to no apps open, and it just started freezing up.

It's done it three times now today and each time it freezes for up to two minutes then eventually springs back to life and asks me to enter my password to unlock. Fingerprint isn't an option.

This time though it removed my home screen picture and I was just left with a black background? I have no idea what it's playing at.

A reboot seems to have fixed it but I shouldn't really have to keep doing it. Might try and exchange it out for a replacement if I get chance tomorrow.

crazy!

I didn't have many issues with mine but also didn't use it much, so I don't have really any usage to compare it to yours. But, I ultimately sent it back to Amazon. It was just too large for me. Mainly the screen to body ratio. I understand it has front facing stereo speakers but it needs a larger screen in that body. Just too large for me. And that's coming from someone who used a iPhone 7+ for ~7 months before getting a S8. Great phone but just not enough to justify its price for me.

hope your issues get fixed or a software update comes out soon to sort out some of the issues.

Thanks man :).
Sad to hear you couldn't get along with it, but I sympathise with your reasoning.

I had a 7 Plus also, and find the size of the XZ Premium to be spot on, even the bezels don't actually bother me but it may be due to the chrome. If it was solid black maybe I'd feel differently? But I can understand why you feel like they're just a bit too much.

My problem now having had this phone, is that I don't think any devices screen will ever come close. Even though it doesn't output 4k all the time, I try believe their TV tech has made a huge difference to the colour and viewing. It's just a gorgeous screen. I looked at my KEYone the other day and was genuinely shocked at how bad it looked! And it's not even a bad screen it's pretty good!

I'm thinking there might be some issue with my device bit just don't want the hassle of swapping it out which is such a stupid mindset but im like . I have another week to swap it out so will go at the weekend if it continues. :)

I really like this phone! Here are some shots taken from my Deepsea Black (US variant) today. The camera has been a pretty solid shooter since I've used it and the overall performance and battery life are great so far. Say what you want about the bezels but I happen to love the design, Sony phones are always beautiful in my opinion! The screen could be a little brighter in sunlight and I can see the abnormal pixel arrangement on light colored backgrounds but it is still a gorgeous panel. (click for high res)

Bought the deepsea black from BB a few days back, and it was amazing until I used the speakers for music..

What a disappointment for an otherwise great device!

I never tried the speakers for music or videos, maybe I will for curiosity.

I have many sets of ear/headphones, that is the primary way of my listening with portable devices (where applicable). My audio and ht speaker systems take care of most listening otherwise with ear/headphones at night.

You certain it isn't the network and its connectivity that you are utilizing that is not bogging down the smartphone, a high percentage of the time it is in my case if I have a problem.

I really want this phone, however, whats holding me back is the price and the camera distortion issues.

The reason I bought mine from BB was the warranty in the US. I got screwed before buying a Samsung international version that had a screen defect. No one could help me, but sometimes it's worth it to gamble I guess. In that case it was the Exynos processor. In the case of the Sony, the finger print scanner isn't a huge deal to me as it's not my primary phone.

I had an Android update this evening on my XZ Premium. Is 7.1.2 even a thing? That's what I expected it to be as it took an age updating and installing.

Anyway it's now all done and I'm still stuck on 7.1.1? It wasn't a security update as that is showing as august date still but I'm wondering what was actually updated?

I'm not bothered as I have no issues with the phone I feel could benefit from an update, but just seemed odd that there was a big install and nothing has seemingly changed.

Android Oreo coming December for this device (for Japan, at least). Sources claim it could come sooner than that, or later in other areas.

Also, Japan exclusive (for the moment) red colour available.

Not sure about verizon. If you get the international unlocked one on Amazon, the FP does work. I had one for a little while. At the time, I just used a pre-paid T-Mobile sim to test.

Does the international unlocked version run LTE on the T-Mobile network?

I would literally drop everything and buy that immediately if it looked like those pics.
I love me a Sony phone.

I remember when Sony dropped the “Sony Ericsson Xperia” and just became “Sony Xperia.” I had their first phone from the change, the Xperia S and I really liked the design. I really like the look and feel of Sony Xperia phones, that new look it’s so simple but bold.
