Had mine for a while now, no scratches anywhere but I did get a nice leather flip case.

I just got the z3 compact. So far I am loving it. The size is great. I was pretty shocked to see it has its own version of multi window.

After 24 hours of use, I noticed a few scratches on the rear glass.

I already bought a case for it now. Guess Sony should forgo the glass back.
eek. sorry to hear that.

I had my Z2 for about a day and found a hairline scratch on the back myself, it drove me mental. No way should a phone scratch as easy, even when being babied/minded.

This is my initial impression.

having owned the 2013 moto x and now the z3c, I much prefer the ergonomics of the moto x. The z3c is a good size, but almost is awkward to hold. I have very small hands, and it still feels almost too small for some reason. I love the size of the iphone 5s, and this feels less premium which could have something to do with the feel in hand. I hate putting cases on my phones, but this is a phone that may actually need one. It feels like it could just slide right out of your hands.

It is very close to stock andoird, which is a really good thing. On the moto and nexus phone you can slide up from the home button and get to google now. You can do the same thing with the compact, but there is an extra shortcut to a built in sony app that cannot be removed. I know that may sound picky, but it is pretty annoying.

Early impression is that battery life will be completely insane. My nexus 5 actually feels "faster" in terms of smoothness and that is with both running nova launcher. I know some have concerns with the screen quality. It is "decent." I personally immediately noticed the difference in screen quality compared to the nexus 5.

The glass on the back seems weak in several ways then, my gf's Z3 recently slid off a stack of books (10 cm high max) onto the floor and landed precisely on the corner that Sony brags is reinforced with some kind of vinyl to absorb shocks. The glass back shattered into a web of cracks just around the corner and three deep, longer ones that span the entire back. The floor is polished stone to be fair, but the force of the impact was minimal given the small distance and the gradual slip into the fall. Later on she accidentally tapped the phone very lightly against something hard and now the back looks like it's had a 200 km/h drive into a brick wall.

Glass back phones always need a case. Why I hate them. But sorry that happened to your GF...............

Ya thanks, and don't tell her but I told her s...... xD (you should see her 4s).

Still though, that impact was really nothing, esp. with those special corners that Sony brag about, the back should have held together even though it's glass. But I know I know......... :p

Z2 is still good

Do you guys think getting a Z2 is worthless this days?

Although now, it is the same price as the Z3 compact... but not the Z3.

The reason I joined macrumors was to learn more about the coming iPhone6...lol. Waited until it was released thinking it'd be the phone for me... but now I am thinking Z3 Compact... well more than thinking now.

Lollipop V5 Android will be ready for it in January which is another goodie. Only Sony had the unlocked Orange (looks red to me). Most carriers sell only black/white Z3 in Canada... only Bell has the Compact and still only white/black. Telus only has the black Z3.

I really want a Z3 Compact Tablet and possibly even a Z3 Compact phone. I love the design, it actually reminds me of the iPhone 4 in black or white. A sexy brick for sure!

Z3 compact battery

I just got my Z3 on last Friday shipped from Sony Canada. (Orange color). My previous phone was a Google Galaxy Nexus and I had to recharge it at least every two days (after 3 years of use). The Z3 Compact I use the same amount... I charged it on Sunday, and now after two days of my typical use I am down to 80% battery so it says. Hollleeee crap it is doing better I must say. Lets see how it holds up after a few years.
Feels good in the hand, and looks real nice. 4.6" screen which is very close to the old galaxy nexus (4.65"). HiRez audio, very good camera... I am happy so far. Gonna pick up a magnetic dock when I can.

Enjoy the phone, but clearly you are a very lite user.

Using the stock camera app, the iPhone 6 is near the bottom in quality out of most phone cameras I had, right off the top of my head only the HTC One and iPhone 3GS were worse. Apple cranked up the noise reduction way too far on the iPhone 6. I've had every iPhone since the 3GS. The iPhone 4 to 5s did not exhibit the smearing as the 6 does (never mind that the 4-5 were much slower, I'm just strictly talking about picture quality). Every photo even in bright daylight looks like a water painting, although it can be worked around using a 3rd party camera app. See this pic for the severe smearing of details on the iPhone 6.

I currently own an iPhone 5s. Would you recommend sticking with ios 7.1.2, if I want to take good pictures? Is the excessive noise reduction you're talking about here part of ios 8?

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I got a lovely Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, it's my Christmas present so I had a good play in the store, the design is just stunning and I MEAN stunning. It's sooooooo thin and very light it's also a VERY smooth tablet and I love how Sony has given Android just a really light tune, now where near what Samsung and LG do.
It's a great design anyway and a great tablet, the ports are easy to access and speakers are surprisingly loud and clear considering their waterproof design.

So overall a great tablet.

Received the Z3C today and returning it tomorrow. Speaker is noticeably worse than my Moto X, much to my surprise.

It's a shame because I like everything else a great deal. Well, aside from the USB placement.

Glad someone else here is into this tablet. I'm hoping to get it in the next couple months but I can't find it online anywhere to buy for folks in the US. Have they mentioned a release date?
