I'll ask here rather than starting a new thread.

How fast are the servers for the App Store?
Reason I ask is because when ever I download a new 600MB iOS from iTunes, it takes atleast a day to download. That's when I try to download it within the first 24hrs of release.
So normally a wait a week before attempting it again.

Are the servers different for a paid app so they download quicker or should I wait for the buzz to settle?

Good question. We can at least take solace from the fact that there are many less Mac users than iOS users, and not all of those will upgrade on Day One (whereas most iOS users do), so the pressure on the App Store servers shouldn't be as bad.

Expect the worst--that way, every surprise will be a good one. So, no, I don't think it will come out tomorrow.

Won't stop me from checking the App Store all day, though.

no need to check the app store lol, all online sites and blogs will be blown with news headlines, trust me, if its OUT you will NOW whether u like it or not :)

Hey all, so as we all know, no show stopping bugs have been reported by the media in Lion , do u guys think Lion will come out Tomorrow?

I took the liberty of correcting that for you, since we have no idea what bugs have been reported to Apple that may exist in the GM.

My RSS feed count always goes through the roof when an OS X/iOS update comes out :D

i know right :D

good point there ;)

im still putting my bet on july 14, i knew it would be to good to be true for lion to come out today, oh well.

i hope it will be a new build afterall and NOT the byte by byte copy of the Golden master, what was the point of this long 2 week wait after the GM if they arent going to perfect the Golden master and make it more bug free.

I guess they need to give sufficiently long to devs to make sure that the code they've written against the DP's still works against the GM. Takes a little time to verify whether it's a bug in the OS or in your own code.

Is there a source for this rumor or did someone make it up? Most of the rumors I've seen are saying next week.

History seems to show a trend for a more weekend based release. I'd imagine this was so that people could get to the Apple store.

Snow Leopard - Friday August 28 2009
Leopard - Friday October 26 2007
Tiger - Friday April 29 2005
Panther - Friday October 24 2003
Jaguar - Saturday August 24 2003
Puma - Tuesday September 25 2001
Well, apple did have a trend for announcing iPhones at WWDC, but this yr they didn't......

I don't think "trend" means anything 2 apple.. they just wanna do it there way and make ppl want there products -_- :p

News about Lion seems to be running dry since the GM was released anyway... most sites are indeed pointing to a July 14th release - my birthday!

The wait is killing me though. I want it now!

It started off last week when Three Guys and a Podcast said Lion would launch on July 6th at 9.00am PST (http://t-gaap.com/2011/6/30/apples-lion-to-launch-on-wed-july-6th?site_locale=en).

Secondly, RazorianFly have reported the same date through information on Twitter (http://www.razorianfly.com/2011/07/...-lion-launch-free-copies-for-apple-employees/).

Finally, someone posted on a German website that an Apple Support person told them Lion was available for download on "07/06/2011" (http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=15912).

So there is some credibility to the rumours. It's whether they come true or not thats the question.

I wonder if the servers hold out when it releases :D. We all find out in about 30minutes if the rumors are true...
