The band is quite nice, but what is under it, preventing the sensors from touching skin?
There is nothing covering the sensor when you wear it. The band does not open into two pieces, the clasp just makes the band wider to get over your wrist, so when you lay it down the band lays across the back. If you look at the pick that shows the 3 colors here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZIMK1TA/ you can see the gold one is open and the others are closed.

By the way, it appears they have updated the pics on that link, and they no longer look exactly like what I got (see my earlier post for pics of what I got). Mine matched the pics at the time I ordered it. Now the pics look more like the ones that others are getting like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZOR2GTC/ or this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YOLUBEG/ so now it seems the only advantage to the link I provided is the price. Save money, but wait longer for it to ship from China (assuming updated pics are accurate).

Need to track down some 24mm straps. 22's aren't cutting it.

Not sure how, but the space gray body got scratched, now there is a shiny bare metal spot on my watch :( I'll be getting a silver watch next year, because the scratch wouldn't be so obvious against the silver... But anyhow, I finally got my thick leather strap & black lugs from China (had to order from a diff seller, since my 1st order of lugs got lost in mail & had to file eBay dispute)
My boss has a space black SS watch with white sport band looks great!! I'm still not sure if I like white band on gray watch, but looks perfect on the black watch, but sucks that the black SS (space black) cost $1100 :(

This may be rare, but does anyone have the modern buckle with their space gray?

Really like the modern buckle but I know they are not available

I'm rocking with a monowear band right now, though my favorite is currently the green sports band
It may look like the band s too tight on my wrist but that's not the case, there is some play there :)

I also have the Luvvitt Ultra Armor case, given the abuse I take in karate, I opted for a case to keep the body of the watch from getting marked up.

i'm itching to pull the trigger on this. gorgeous. how does it feel? can you give a quick rundown of what you think?
It really feels good, it's very sturdy, not to heavy but you can tell it's there. It is quite comfortable. It gave my watch a whole new look too, I think it really classes it up. The only time it has been uncomfortable is when I was holding my baby with that arm. He pressed the band against my skin and the steel kinda cut in and made it uncomfortable. Probably would happen with any stainless Steele band though.

How close would you say the "Black" color matches the "Space Gray" in real life. It looks really nice and matched in the photos, but I know sometimes those can be deceiving.
It's very close. The band is shiny and the watch is more of a matte but it looks just like the photos. Looks like it was meant for the watch to me.
