Don't you mean right handers? Explain yourself.

No, left-handers.
Look at your design in stand up mode...slot load drive and power are on the wrong side...and in the lying-down mode...everything else is on the wrong side.

>If you looked at the design of the current iMac or iMac G5, you would see all of that paraphernalia is on one side, the RIGHT side :)

What does that mean? Be clear about what part would make you weep.

I was trying to be more kind/subtle in my approach but evidently you can't handle this...i meant, like everyone ^above^, "Those designs are furchtbar, dégoutant...disgusting!"

I bet you'll change your mind in a few years. ;)

Or not ;)

I think that when Apple make a touchscreen desktop it will be a bit like the iMac G4 as the screen was so adjustable...I would hate to crane my neck downwards towards my desk for a wedge...

I accidentally my whole location.
How many times are you going t post the same wedge design? The first one is was blocky, the next time it was rounded and now you've added a screen and ports. Its still the same ****ing gawd awful design.

Do you have everybody on ignore or are you just trolling? You're not listening to a single thing anyone is saying.

I don't like the design either, it reminds me of a commodore VIC20 or C64 (both of which I owned).

However, godbless is either real dumb, just persistent, or very brave to keep posting in the face of such negativity. I don't know if i will ever know which one it is, but in any case I do have to give him a little credit for his stubbornness.

^You're making a rather grand assumption that someone would actually buy such a product.
Yeah you are right. I know it would be a hassle for me to switch the position and I'd probably do it about twice a day but I have an idea of a better design using a hinge that would also lock the screen in place for touch use.

Honestly, it's ****ing terrible. Not only is it aesthetically displeasing but it also offers little in the way of ergonomics. How would I tilt the screen to best suit me or to avoid reflection from overhead lighting?
That's a good point I never thought about overhead lighting--but I don't have any trouble with my laptop even though the screen is tilted back at an angle.

Stand it on another wedge? How would I use the iSight if it's at the bottom of the screen? Am I supposed to sit hunched over it giving me neck ache?
People do paperwork for many hours by looking at a worse angle (looking at a flat table) and don't complain too much. Plus it is the same angle as a keyboard so it is good for the wrists, the fingers and the hands. It is also at a good angle for drawing on--most drawing boards are angled.

The beauty of the current iMac is the super slim design and very small footprint. Who would want a monstrosity like this on their desk? And do I really want a bunch of cables hanging out of the side with no way of masking them?
Well my next design will allow either one or the other (but not both). I think I will still have the cords out of the side though. The more I think about my next design the more I think of it having laptop-like features.

Please, please, don't give up your day job... unless you work in product design...
Yes these designs took me hours and hours of work considering I haven't had much experience with engineering and Solidworks. If people on this forum liked wedges and focused on the strengths of my design (instead of their disliking of wedges) then I probably would be getting a lot better feedback. ;)

It's obviously inspired by Isaiah 13:12
Except the colour's all wrong.
Wow--I like Isaiah but I haven't come across that passage yet. That's a neat find but I certainly wouldn't want a golden wedge idol of another religion. :)

You might want to take a look at your poll numbers.

It appears that the wedge design is not a popular one.

Quite frankly, I don't see any benefits to your design and see a lot of negative ones.

What's the point of these polls?

So what if people on MR all voted for your design?

Do you seriously think Apple cares about giving us what we want, rather than what they want to give us?

The trouble is, your design has very few "strengths". What is your design brief? If, like all previous iMacs, it is to use laptop components, why on earth should it end up being many times bulkier than a laptop?
I personally am opposed to it having laptop components because it is a desktop computer. It certainly could be as flat as a laptop (or as flat as the current iMac let's say since that would be better for my design anyway) and held up at an angle by two glass beams where papers could be (saving desk space). I'll try this with my next design anyway. This will take my design away from having a wedge form.

There's a reason why Apple uses laptop components in the iMac...think about it.

I think its spot on, and its highly likely this is exactly what the next iMac will look like. Keep up the good work chum!

I thinks its awful but theres no need to be so harsh on the guy. He putting effort in and we should appreciate his ideas. My coplaint is that it is far to fat, im expecting something thinner then a cinema display not a wedge of cheese.

By the way wenger has the best accent in the premiership.

Too Fat, too bulky

Never in a million years, would I buy this design, it reminds me a little of the original CRT iMac, in a newer housing.

Apple's design, IF they do one, will be much sleaker. Besides , have you ever visited an Apple store, they use the current iMacs, modified with a touch screen as their cash registers. Touch screen Macs have been available for quite a long time now, usually by a 3rd party, but I recall seing the G4 iMac as a touch screen computer already.

It could very well be , that the next gen iMac, could put these companies out of business, or at least reduce their Mac modification options...:apple:

iMac variation

your design and ideas have some valid points, although I don't like the bulkyness of the original.
Here is my take on your design. , making it appear sleeker and modern.
The back could actually be adjustable to vary the slope/ angle, etc to deal with overhead lighting, etc.
Also , perhaps building in an iSight at top and bottom of the screen, and depending on it's position (autosensing of course), always the top one is in use. All moving parts, (HD and DVD drive) could be in the back portion.

What do you think of that?:apple:

I am actually impressed. Not with the design. But, the fact that GodBless is taking all the bashing rather well. Most people come in, ask for opinions, and then get really pissy when no one likes their idea.

Kudos to you GodBless, you have a great attitude and drive. I would suggest scrapping this idea, but don't stop thinking of new ones!

This is what I was thinking, too. My God, he takes things in his stride. I liked it when he asked someone to be more specific about what they didn't like. :p That's about as constructive as you can get.
