Let’s speculate!

How much would the new M1X devices be?

Just curious, with 64g of ram an options… how much do you think apple will charge for the upcoming release?

I expect same prices as now (maybe ±$100 here and there), with the same $200 for 8GB extra RAM that Apple has been doing for years. The 14" starting at $1799 for a 16GB/512GB config, the 16" starting at $2399 for a 16GB/512GB config. Or maybe there would be some minor adjustments changes given that the 14" and the 16" will likely include the same hardware.. the 14" could start at $1999 and the 16" could start at $2399...

About the same as the product they replace.

So a 16" AS MBP will cost about the same as the Intel version it replaces.

If there’s miniLED I could see $200 increases in price to both sizes, otherwise they’ll probably start at the same prices for the same configs.

If that ends up being the case the 16" should come with 32 GPU cores for the base because if not it would be overpriced. How will the $600 price difference be justified if they come with the same configurations?

The iPad Pro is the same price with Mini LED isn’t it?

I’m sure the prices will be exactly the same, just as they were when the 15” MBP got replaced with the 16” version for exactly the same price despite wide speculation on here it was going to be a massively more expensive machine.

We could see a surprise in price, only because GPU options are no longer possible. A Maxed out 16 could be $5,600.

There pretty much for sure will be GPU binning of some sort. I expect the 14" will have an option of 14 or 16 core GPU and the 16" will have 28 and 32 core GPUs (or something along those lines)

That’s my expectation - the 14” is the 8/2/16 config and the 16” is the 8/2/32 config. However I really hope they do both configs for both sizes in a more iPad Pro relationship. In that case, I could see $1799/2199 for the 14” and $1999/2399 for the 16” (then add a $0/100/200 surcharge for miniLED depending on how optimistic/pessimistic you are). This would please me greatly.

No, the miniLED 12.9” is $100 more expensive.

Thanks, I did think I might have missed that but honestly couldn't remember. FWIW, I was in the Apple Store this week and that screen on the new miniLED 12.9 does look fantastic.

Yeah. What I meant by GPU options is what they have currently selectable. We're not going to have AMD GPU's, so that additional cost is subtracted.

I believe the ‘enhanced’ Mac mini (which may have been confused with the so-called Mac mini Pro) will start at 1,199. This is because if Apple is also going to release a more budget friendly external display - around 999 - they will want that Mac mini and display combo to be in the ballpark of a similarly specced iMac Pro.

Of course, it will come with a paltry 8/256gb spec…

Apple Silicon chips are significantly cheaper to produce than buying from Intel. Removing the touchbar will also decrease the cost. Both will be more than enough to offset any miniLED cost.

I also expect + or - $100.

Yes! The removing of the touch bar probably puts the mini led in the same ballpark as the current model. Who knows maybe without intel licensing and the minibar we might see a price decrease. I hope so, I really need to join the M1 band wagon for those performance jumps. I suppose I still can, because my MacBook Pro 2017 as of now has 16g of ram. Just would have to drop a screensize :(

No rush it will come in time.

Just make sure the software you need runs on Apple Silicon either natively or under Rosetta.

M1 kicks ass and I have no doubt that future iterations will be better, x86 is the stone age.

EDIT://Had to reformulate a sentance since I accidentaly fliped the meaning of what I wanted to say

I'd like Apple to include a minibar in the next release! 🍷

My official guesses for setups I'm interested in are:
  • MBP 14" 16/512: €2130
  • MBP 14" 32/2TB: €3280
  • MBP 16" 16/512: €2710
  • MBP 16" 32/2TB: €3860
I calculated this by taking the price deltas for several configurations and adding them to the M1 MBA price. Of course, it's all pure fantasy, rainbows and unicorns.

We’re getting close! I’m super excited to see what Apple comes up with in just under a day. Praying 🙏 the prices are good!

It's interesting as I think there's solid arguments for them going down (cheaper SoC replacing several components, no Touch Bar) up (MiniLED display, probably unprecedented power for the form factor) or staying the same. They really could move in any direction, or not at all!

Now just hoping they don't fail to put in an appearance tomorrow after all

Part of me thinks this as well but I feel like because this really going to be geared towards PROS they are going to wild out and PRICE like the MACPRO and if they do this they will PRICE ME OUT of a Mac mobile editing option! Just linked my CC to APPLEPAY and Im ready for tomorrow, fingers crossed they go up for sale after DUB DUB

It went from 1999 to 2399 when they added the smart bar... a $400 premium... which is now gone. I hope they drop the price.
