Just installed El Capitan on my 2015 Retina MacBook, but I can't seem to get Split View to work at all. I held the full screen zoom (green button) down with my trackpad in Safari, but the Split View mode from the WWDC Keynote never showed up.

Anyone else having this issue, or am I just missing something?

Using the trackpad, click the green button (fullscreen toggle) by pressing down harder on the trackpad. Don't lightly tap it or lightly click. Since you have the 2015 model, you have ForceTouch. It will be that second, deeper, vibration that will toggle the split view.

I have a Force Touch trackpad and this doesn't work for me. Can you maybe post screenshots of your System Preferences > Trackpad settings (in each of the three tabs)? Maybe there's a default configuration you have set that's causing it to work for you and not for others.

I'm interested to know whether you can trigger split screen without a force-touch pad?
I was hoping for a window snapping.... So it seems the split screen is nothing like the window snapping in Windows or BetterTouch Tools app or is that a separate feature?

You can watch the video here: http://www.apple.com/live/2015-june-event/ at 17:30. He clearly demonstrated clicking on the green button to start splitting it onto a full screen view with another app. He was also using a regular trackpad.

He also showed dragging one app onto another app in mission control where it started showing the + button.

Neither is possible on my rMBP with trackpad.

It's working fine for me on a mid-2011 11" MBA. I swiped up for Mission Control, dragged the Safari (or Airmail or Mail or any app) *between* desktops and it will become full screen. Then take a second app and drag it up to that full screen desktop in Mission Control and it should become a split screen. It doesn't work w/ all apps though. I tried to drop Tweetbot into a split screen w/ Safari and it wouldn't allow it. But messages, notes, worked fine.

I get a blocked cursor when trying to attempt that.

What is that? Photos? Some apps won't work in split screen. I think that is one of them. Try dropping messages or mail into split screen w/ Safari just to make sure it works for you.

Guys, this feature is exclusive to certain Macs at the moment. It has nothing to do with the apps you're using. I was able to confirm with another developer that on two different Macs with the same apps, he sees completely different behavior. The iMac works fine but 15" rMBP doesn't.

I filed a radar and we'll see what Apple says. It is probably going to be improved and expanded to include more Macs in the next DP.

Just to be clear, is there anyone here that sees this feature working on '12 15" rMBP?

If you are already in full-screen, it might not work. So leave full-screen and then try to hold the green button.

Works on Late 2013 15" rMBP by holding the green button. This was a fresh install onto an empty partition.

Works on a 13" mid-2013 Air. Opened two Chrome windows, held the green button on one. The UI is actually very reminiscent of the new system on Windows 10, where once you snap a window, the other windows float in the empty space, and you pick the one to snap there.

I'll file something as well but split screen only works on some of my apps, not apps, not all. I can split screen safari & mail, mail & notes, etc. I can not split screen safari and Tweetbot or Photos w/ anything. Can you split screen Photos? If there is inconsistent behavior then that is most definitely something to report.

Got Chrome and Safari split. I don't use the Mail app, so I can't try that. I don't think Photos can be resized to half the screen, I think it has to have a wider-than-tall window size, so it won't be able to snap to half the screen.
