I can't for the life of me figure out how to make a creature skinny or fat using my MacBook Pro trackpad. Can someone clue me in? Thanks!

the two fingered scroll DOES work. hover over a vertebrae and scroll and it'll make that section bigger or smaller.

MBP Crash?

I've downloaded the trial, and it is not working on my Macbook Pro (2.0 Ghz, 2gb ram, I think 8600M GT graphics. Not sure.) I get a black screen, adjustment of screen resolution, then a white screen with a cursor, then a crash and return to original screen resolution. Help?

LOL.. it had to be done

Having to wait for the mac version, while the PC version is up and running is not instilling very much confidence in me.

The trial version works on the mac, so why the delay on releasing the full CC download?

EA's "official Spore partner" Gametree has an ad on the EA store page saying it is available today, yet when clicked it takes you to the "coming soon" page.

I wonder what would happen if you took the full Windows version and put it in Cider wrapper for the trial...

The PC version was delayed until the 18th as well. if you check EA's page for the download, it still says "Status: Pre-Release Wed Jun 18 12:00:00 CDT 2008" and the button to order says "preorder." hopefully, the mac client will be available for download at the same time today. if not, i'm heading out to gamestop or walmart and picking it up. the retail box is a hybrid disc.

So the folks who are posting critters from the full version are doing so from the store-purchased CCs?

i would imagine so, unless they found a less scrupulous method of obtaining it. i called gamestop yesterday and they said they'd have it today, the 18th. walmart is advertising the 19th.

hopefully, when they say 12:00 CDT, they mean it. i'm excited. one more hour!

Wow.. EA Store website is down (I paid for the "full PC version"), so I can't download it. <pout>

My guess? Sorely underestimated the amount of traffic they'd get :)

Maybe I'll compress it and upload it somewhere :\. Oh nevermind, I guess it will be up soon anyway.

Hrm. So far I've encountered:

  • No Response from Application Web Server.
  • Been allowed in, but the download doesn't show up as available as it should.
  • Been told my password is incorrect.
  • Been allowed in, only to be kicked out.

Wheeee! :)

The website is up and the game can be downloaded now.

But of course the mac version is not up yet. I just called apple and they are expecting it by noon Pacific time in stores

Something I have been wondering. Both the Mac and PC versions will run on my Mac Pro Octo (Vista via Bootcamp). The question is which will run better, the mac native or the PC version?

I run Crysis on my MP, so I doubt that Spore will have issues if I went the PC version route. The price is of course the same (for now), but if they cannot get the CC mac version up and ready (and are having issues with the PC one) is this a clue how things will go down the line?

Better to be safe and get the PC version? Or will the full Spore game be a hybrid?

Wirelessly posted (BB-8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

The packaging seemed to indicate hybrid dvd. And since it runs on the mac via cider, I think hybrid is probably valid assumption.

Damn now my password is being denied again.

it's 2:30 eastern and the gametreeonline site still says "coming soon." i might have to run to a local games store and pick up the boxed copy.

*sigh*

OK, now it shows as available for purchase, yet no download option.

What the hell? Do they or do they not intend to make the mac version downloadable?

Becoming convinced that they really don't want my money.

Or maybe you need to exercise a little patience for ***'s sake?

runs better on windows, apparently. System requirements are lower for windows rigs, which implies that the same machine will run the game better under windows than os x. if you don't mind rebooting to play, then i'd get windows version.

although they may put both on the same disc when the full game is released, you never know.

Haven't checked WalMart in my area but I know the gamestop near my office doesn't have it and the guy looked at me funny when I asked.

I'm going to try to newly built one that's closer to my house.

i called on the 17th and they said that it had shipped and they'd have it today (18th). i might head over in a bit, since it still isnt available for download. walmart should have it tomorrow. walmart also has a free 5$ gift card offer online, but i'm not sure about in-store.

The gamestop website has it for download and has for a while today but unsure if it's the Mac version. If the disk is hybrid I want it instead so I'm hoping the new gamestop near my home has it.
