Really? Any photos of the plastic puck?

I don't know of any but it has been reported by several including Mark Gurman. Here is a link to the 9to5 Mac article.

...The company has developed both plastic and stainless steel versions of the circular charger, potentially one for the $349 aluminum and plastic Apple Watch Sport, and the other for the higher-end models. It’s unclear at this point whether the company will sell multiple versions of the charger, as Apple has only shown the metal variant, though the Apple Watch Edition is said to ship with a special box and charging dock that may incorporate the stainless steel MagSafe connector...

Also here is what David Pogue who attended special viewing at the Event said about the Edition.

...The fanciest model, the gold Apple [Watch] Edition, comes in a gorgeous jewelry box — which doubles as a charger. The back of the box has a Lightning connector, and the inside of the box has the watch’s magnetic round charger pad, standing vertically. So as you retire each night, you can just lay your gold watch into its case and let it charge...

Mark Gurman also said he doesn't think one watch will charge slower than the others. Of course that's just a guess on his part but I would be surprised if Apple did that. They'd have a lot of pissed off customers as there doesn't appear to be any technical reason for doing so. Even if there is a cosg difference you'd think it would be something Apple could eat and not pass on to consumers.

You stated that both versions were at the Apple event.... I haven't heard anyone else mention this.

I remember reading an article claiming that Apple initially was going to use plastic charger but then switched to the stainless steel version (much like how they initially decided on plastic screens for the original iPhone but eventually switched to glass after further testing). However, it's all speculative at this point.

The Edition is KNOWN to have a case based charger. So there will be at least 2. Also at the event Apple had plastic and SS back charger pucks. So if the plastic is used then there will be at least 3.

Isnt the Edition thing just a case of using a standard charger with the box it comes in so its not really a different charger just a way of setting it up?
