So the only bands I have are the sports bands (I have a few different colors). Ready to venture to the new ones!

For those who have (or tried) both the sports loop & woven nylon, which do you prefer? Are the materials the same? Any pros / cons? Thinking of picking one up over the Easter holiday.

Thanks.
The Woven Nylons are a lot stiffer. The Sport Loops are quite soft and very comfortable.

I prefer the Woven Nylon as I think they look a bit classier, but it's personal preference really. I'd recommend finding somewhere which lets you try them on!

I have both and prefer the sport loop because it’s comfier (not that the woven nylon is uncomfortable)— it’s good for workouts, sleeping, etc. It’s a nice sporty look. I save woven nylons for when I’m out and about and not going to the gym. Around the house or being active, I would choose a sport loop.
[doublepost=1522421604][/doublepost]If all you have are sport bands, you want might to try to leather or woven nylon to dress up your look. But I love the sport loops so much that I want you to try one out. Solution— one of each!

Haha! I was "planning" on just getting one, but will see how that goes. Seems like the woven nylon would be a good start & then follow that up with the sports loop.

However something tells me, when I'm in the store thats what's going to happen! Thinking the woven nylon should be the first!

I picked up the new Cargo Khaki and Black Platinum sport loops. Khaki is here and black should be delivered today. Just curious if anyone else has noticed the Khaki is shorter than the older sport loops? I dunno if it’s just the Khaki, all the new ones or if I got a defective one, but it’s about 1/2-3/4” shorter overall than the Dark Olive and reg Black loops I have.

I swear my marine is shorter! But I haven’t compared side by side yet.

The loop is much more comfortable.

The woven looks much nicer.

Beyond that its just preference.

Feel: They're both soft, though the loop is more so. The loop also can be adjusted infinitely to any size, while the nylon is a conventional buckle, which can lead to "this hole's too loose, the next is too tight". I've long had that problem with watch bands.

Length: I hadn't consciously noticed, but now that I'm looking for the difference, I think the khaki/olive drab is a little shorter than my black loop. Perhaps materials costs have gone up so it's a way to counter that and keep the price the same, but for people with thick arms that could make the strap too short to loop over properly.

Definitely true for both marine green and hot pink.

Got the black/platinum and it’s almost as long as the older ones. The Khaki is the shortest. Dunno if that’s normal or if it’s off a bit. The black/platinum is the best fitting one in the watch. The others (Khaki included) have one side that has a bit of play. Debating grabbing another Khaki to check.

Here's mine. Unfortunately I don't have the "normal" black loop with me so the only "old" one I can compare to is the spicy orange.

I miss the old gold.....
...straight from the Go gold, chop up the soul gold, set on its goals gold. I hate the new gold, the bad mood gold, the always rude gold... :D

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

In all seriousness thank you to everyone posting these pictures, making decide which band to maybe buy next a bit easier!

  • Both are very comfortable.
  • The Sport Loop is infinitely adjustable, while the Woven Nylon (like the normal Sports bands) has fixed steps where you can latch it, so you might find it to be a tiny bit looser or tighter than you really want.
  • Both are secure, but the Sport Loop could be more prone to catching the end on something and coming undone (but, then, it wouldn't fall, you'd just have a watch on a band sized for the Incredible Hulk).
  • The Woven Nylon bands can look quite classy, while the Sport Loop, to my mind, always has a little bit of a "wearing a bathrobe" look to it.
  • The Sports Loop folds a relatively thick fuzzy band back on itself as it goes through the, hmm, buckle (? more of a pulley, really), on one end - if you pull it really tight, it'll lay fairly flat, but then it's also a tourniquet. If you wear it looser, that fold sort of puffs out. Over many wearings, it should sort of crease there and lay a bit more flat, but you have to put up with it looking sort of bulky until that happens.
And, it should be noted all of these remarks are very much first-world-problems. Both bands are well made, look nice, and are comfortable. Mostly it comes down to personal preference (mine is for the Woven Nylon) - if you're anywhere near an Apple Store, I'd encourage you to go in and try both on at the watch table, and see which you prefer.

Close-up of this. It's not as noticeable from your usual viewing angle. This is a two-day-old band.

Ahah that “wearing a bathrobe” comment made me laugh - it’s true. That said To my mind, the striped woven nylon bands have a definite “wearing pajamas” look :)

Well said!
Personally, I find the woven nylons more beautiful. And especially the first versions and the check ones. I think you should really see the woven nylons in real life, the material is much nicer than the pictures show. I have 1 sportloop, but not yet worn .. I do not know about the sportloop. Does not look so nice to me, I find the loop to bulky and the material to 'cheap'. Maybe it's nice for a workout, but not for me for a daily wear. But as said, bands and taste is personal.

I think the woven nylon straps look great (they’re always my choice for less scruffy days) but I’m not at all keen on the striped ones (though the new stripes are a bit nicer than the previous ones). Day to day I love the sport loops even though I do think they’re a bit like sweat bands.

Picked up the denim blue sport band today, took some outdoor snaps.
Thanks for posting this - nice to see what it looks like "in real life" instead of in Apple's achingly-perfect-but-sometimes-misleading product photos. Thought it was close to Azure, now it seems a little darker and more saturated, partway in between Azure and Blue Cobalt. I might need this. Sigh. Wonder how it compares to Royal Blue (which I decided I wanted, too late).

(Next I want a purple with more red in it than Ultraviolet - which looks really good in the photos, but too close to a dark blue in real life. I need 50/50 mix of red & blue. C'mon Apple!)
