You have the most common problem of an average ssd user. Too small and cost too much.

If I had a single HD with average performance, I would notice a big improvement with the SSD. But coming from RAID-0 with WD Caviar Black drives, the performance bump was not huge and not worth the expense. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I was also a bit spoiled coming from RAID-0. Now I also have a future pain to migrate the system. For instance, what if my next desktop Mac is an iMac with Sandy Bridge. Uncertain whether I'd create two partitions for that configuration. It can be done, but it will be more complicated than simply cloning a single partition.

If they would stop making little ssds go to 128 or 160 as the smallest and 1tb as the biggest cut the price a bit they could still get rich and people would buy.

If Dec. of this year no one made any ssd under 160gb and a 160gb was 200 bucks the public would buy it.

I believe hdd makers put a lot of pressure on ssd makers to hold us up thus little 40gb 60gb 80gb drives..

We need to see an Intel/WD joint venture NOW!!!!

Better yet last week! I pick WD because they make ssd's as a stand alone product.

SSD vs hdd is like Solar/wind energy vs oil. The newer tech is fighting rich giants to get established.

Yeah I know Intel is also rich, but GE pushs solar and wind and they are rich. I like to think the analogy holds up.

This is either a troll or someone without a grip on reality. Today, high-capacity SSD is unaffordable for most people. Even those considering SSD need to consider splitting data (audio, video, virtual machines) from the boot drive.

I use a 40GB intel SSD in my macpro 2008 for the os boot and applications only. I do not save files or anything to it. Just the app and OS. It boots from off to ready to go in 28 seconds.
I love it.

SSD while still expensive is the best and safest way to go for OS's.
