It has been a while since I posted any of the horrible "rewards" incentives that I get in the mail.

They keep getting worse, and the latest one I got in the mail is especially bad:
Horrible deal for SB Rewards.png

So, spend $20 in a single order, and get 35 stars for it....

While I haven't cut it out of my life completely, I have been going to Starbucks less and less. It seems like the less I go, the worse the rewards program incentives get.

And things are about to get even worse for Starbucks’ Rewards program:

Thanks for posting this, I had not heard about the upcoming change.

This really sucks. I used to only use my stars for bakery items, as it would give me the most bang-for-buck, or I guess stars in this case. With these changes, I will redeem half as often as I did before.

So, the reward incentives have gotten ridiculously stingy, and pretty soon the stars are going to be worth a lot less.

I wonder if a price increase is coming soon as well?

Already has.
I haven't noticed a price increase, but I don't go that often anymore, so it could easy have gone up without me noticing.

The thing is, I don't love SB, but sometimes when I am away from my house SB is the best option. I have tried other places, and their lattes are worse than SB.

Actually, I got a caramel Latte from McDonald's a little before Christmas, I had a digital coupon for any drink for $1 or something like that. The McDonald's latte stained my teeth, and I am not talking about a little bit, but a lot.

I had a dental cleaning about a month prior, on Veterans Day, and now after that McDonald's latte it looks like I haven't seen a dental hygienist in ten years.

Anyone else have a coffee do that to them?

My next cleaning isn't until April, but I might just pay out of pocket and see if I can get one sooner. It is really bad.

I still go to SB every once in a while, just because I want something other than drip coffee. Starbucks is the McDonalds of coffee shops now and consistency is primarily what they offer - not excellent coffee.

At some point I just began ignoring the rewards. It's not worth my time.

I'd heard about this new change. Since I was out in 2016 anyway, it doesn't affect me this time around. SB continues to devalue customers with this.

Here's a quick list of how the Starbucks Rewards Program will change on February 13th:

  • The tier levels that are changing:
    • 50 stars will be 100 stars.
    • 150 stars increases to 200 stars.
    • 200 stars will be 300 stars.
Yes, but: While a pastry goes from 50 to 100 stars and there is a 50-point difference for a handcrafted beverage, some stars shift down.
  • Iced coffee (not including cold brew beverages) and iced tea (not including iced tea lemonades) will be 100 stars, down from 150 stars.
  • Packaged coffee moves to 300 stars, down from 400 stars.
  • Select merchandise items will be 100 stars, down from 200 stars.

Ouch... that isn't good.

And yeah, that shipped sailed a while ago. Prices in my area have been slowly creeping up. We pretty much only go there now, if we do, once a week. I have invested in some nice equipment at the house and like making my own now.

They continue to devalue things.

The original rewards program gave you a free drink at 15 stars and that could be whatever drink you wanted. But you were only getting one star per visit. Fair would have been one star per item purchased.

SB tries to justify all this by saying you can get all these extra stars in different ways. Shrug.

Whatever SB, keep your rewards program - I was out in 2016.

Everyone seems to be doing this as the fourth thing after price portions quality. RR you have to pay part of your birthday reward. Slice you have to spend 2x. Would have rather have needed 16 points. It screws the singles and couples. A pizza and one other thing would cover the $15 before. Now it's $30. They just need to make them all spend so much within a time period to get a reward, not big chunks at a time.

Same for us. We really only go when we get our haircuts since it's in the same strip, so maybe every six weeks or so

😟Don't have any near me. I used to love their nut covered donuts, and the french crullers, but only once a year. I can't figure out why they were all closed. The Dunkin' Donuts was close to the mall, and the McDonald's in the mall closed, which surprised me.
Come here and you can't look in another direction without seeing one. Need to get a KK less than 50 miles away though. Their donuts destroy DD, especially when the hot sign is on.

KK sucks, so does DD. The best donuts are from mom and pop shops.
KK glazed are awesome! DD are ok, but only if you go right in the morning. I can't think of any smaller ones very close to us. There's one good one somewhat close, but can only make it on a weekend due to the hours, and you have to get there at the crack of dawn on a weekend to get a full selection

KK is just sugar, I never understood the hype over it.

I ended yesterday just one star shy of a last opportunity to grab free Frappuccino. Almost spent $1.25 for an avocado spread just to get enough points for a freebie frapp (150 yesterday), before my stars devalued today—but I said screw it………

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
