Holy hell. This changes the game from SC2 into SC2 + almost anything. I can't wait to play a 3rd person shooter in the SC2 universe! Been waiting for that about as long as SC2 itself :). This looks AWESOME.

True the edditing tools look power full, They say that it was made way more powerful and easyer to use, but they all say the same thing. I hugly curious about what is't gona look like for the customised games. I still have a liddle hope that this tool can be used by random people, but i fear it is not going to be the case...

I still haven't got the hang of the one in wc3, well it's been a wile since I tried to do something with it.

So, can anyone who's provided Blizzard their Mac specs under OS X confirm that they got a key? I can't wait for the mac wave to start!

You guys know you can download the beta and a crack off of torrent sites. It's only for windows, so you'll have to have bootcamp loaded. Just can't play online. Check for StarCrack...

That would be illegal and honestly pretty boring.

How is it boring? AI works and it's actually fun!
Of course it's illegal. That's obvious
Most everything on the torrent sites is illegal.
So just load it up, see if it runs well on your computer, then immediately delete it and wait until it comes out in stores so you can buy it (many months from now).

Yeah, I'm sure they talk it up, but at the very least you can see lots of potential here. I have faith that there are enough people out there with lots of skills and not much time on their hands that good maps will be made.

I tried to think for a bit about how to get you to realize what type of person you are, but I didn't think anything would actually get through to you. Then I was frustrated and thought to just insult you with an amusing picture, but I ultimately just decided to say I dislike people like you.

Well, since the suggested logic was to be able to install a free demo early... Ethics are gray there. Also, since the suggested use was only to see if system specs were high enough, I'd say ethically that's fine. Most stores don't take returns of games. If he had gone out and bought the game and then found it didn't work well he'd be SOL.

BUT... The reason he'd be SOL is because of DRM which is there to prevent cracking of the game in the first place!!! It's a vicious cycle. :)

Some people make a distinction between legality and morality. Do you believe beer should be illegal? Do you believe it is moral to consume it, in moderation? Was it any more or less moral during prohibition? There was a time when slavery was legal. Driving one mile per hour over the speed limit is illegal, but is it immoral? A speed limit sign in a school zone near me states that it is in force every time the light above it is blinking, but the light doesn't know about holidays or late open days -- what does that say about morality? Personally, I don't allow the government's view of legality to influence my idea of morality, nor do I impose my view of morality on others, nor do I talk down on those who accept the law without question. But I do like it when people question the law.

Just to be clear, I'll jump in if Blizzard sends me a beta key and a Mac client. Either way, I'm pre-ordering SC2 the first day I can, likely from Amazon. I won't download or install it until then.

I provided Mac specs several months ago. I got a first wave invite. Invites are completely random and have nothing to do with specs.

I know it is a random cycle - just curious what your system specs are?

I'm disappointed that you need to already have a Blizzard game to be in the Beta :(. I actually own 5 (plus some expansions). However, I got a new computer and since I don't play them anymore I didn't bother to put them on. It wouldn't be an issue, I have the discs still, except I moved from the States to Austria and the discs are back there. Sigh. Guess I'm stuck waiting for the release, here's to hoping it's soon!

As for the other things, those are completely separate ideas. If someone has a product and you take it against their wishes, that is wrong. You can make up whatever excuses you want (I'll buy it eventually, it's their fault for putting DRM on it, other things are illegal and people do those things, etc), but they're just excuses. And not even good ones. That's all I have to say on the topic.

I'm confused, I tried logging in on the battle.net account login but it says my username or password is incorrect?
I then went into Warcraft 3 and logged onto my BNet account and it worked? How come I can't get into this same place?

Can anyone help, I'd like to try and get the Beta?

EDIT: NVM, had created the account a while ago and forgot... used a different password.

LOL, true true let´s hope together, but I´ve always like to make maps my self, you could say I´m a creative mind. For example, If I play wow, I´ve always watched that my stuf was nice on the outside, even if the specs were trashy (that was at the beggining, before the first add on, wen you could own people with crapy stuf :) haaa good times) or if i play like need for speed stuf I´m not gona drive a car, i´m gona customise one, like for 2 two ours, make two laps and quit the game. If i play the sims, well you get the idea. So I am gona creat maps, my only hope is that I wont be too limited by the complexity of the tools...

I can understand what you mean, if it's just too unwieldy, no one is going to want to deal with it to create maps (or even be able to). I don't suppose they have it in the Beta, do they? My guess is not. So, we'll see. If it's easy I'll be making them along with you :D, maybe we can swap maps. I'm definitely going to be doing some 3rd person shooters along with normal maps, ESPECIALLY if you can be controlling a protoss or zerg in the 3rd person shooter!

I just read on the front page of Digg that someone has broken the protection on the beta and it is now available for download on the internet. There seems to be a lot of maps available for it as well.

Now, I don't condone doing this, it isn't very nice, but if you're one of those who want to take a peek, go check it out.

I've never been a StarCraft fan, so I have zero desire to play SC2.

My god I just saw HD replays on youtube.....my god it looks georgous!

When is this damn game going to come out, come out.
In fact, I'm going to get the new MBP's in preparation. oh wait. that hasn't been released either.

Wait, so does that mean that the Mac Beta is out? Because everyone's been saying that it's not!

Im very excited about how this game will play on my standard 13" uMBP with C2D 2.2 ghz, 4gigs ram and 9400M. Im hoping it will be smooth on medium setting, but I just dont know much about the 9400Ms capabilities. I guess its the weakest link in my system by far though.

What is so good about Starcraft 2 when Supreme Commander 2 has just been released? The original Starcraft was not as good as Total Annihilation and the Supreme Commander series is basically just a modern version of that.
